What are some good albums to get into Black Metal? Burzum in general didn't do it for me and that's what most people recommend.
What are some good albums to get into Black Metal...
Burzum
why would you WANT to get into it
Pure holocaust
Lots of material there that gets praised by many. I don't wanna miss out on good music.
Darkthrone
listen to Drawing Down the Moon until you like it
Depends on what you want from it. Maybe check out the other big Norwegian bands, like Mayhem, Emperor, Darkthrone, Thorns, Old Funeral, Immortal, Satyricon, ect. Check out Bathory as well.
De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Transilvanian Hunger
A Blaze in the Northern Sky
Under the Sign of the Black Mark
these guys are right
in the more atmo black /depressive realm, gris is pretty good aswell
If the first track of this album won't get you, you should consider trying other genre.
A bit cleaner than most stuff
Emperor - In the nightside eclipse
WEAKLING
Transilvanian Hunger is pretty inaccessible for someone just getting into black metal. In The Nightside Eclipse is a great starting point
stick to rap tourist retard
Just say fuck it and listen to Venom, Bathory, et al
Sarcófago - INRI
Beherit - Drawing Down the Moon
Blasphemy - Fallen Angel of Doom
If you don't like the real stuff then leave it at that, but don't "get into" it through the pussy poseur shit.
Mayhem De Mysteriis
Immortal Pure Holocaust
Darkthrone blaze
Enslaved Frost
Satyricon Dark Medieval Times
if you cant into any of these then just give up.
lmao, let's all laugh at the klvt-nerd. Burnt down any churches lately bruh?
I didn't even mention any of the church burning bands you fucking faggot. Why would you get into any genre through its watered down version as opposed through to its purest exponents? It just doesn't make sense.
The point is to enjoy music, not to be as trve as possible.
If people can enjoy Dimmu Borgis synthpop but not Beherit then they should listen to Borgir. Stop treating music as a competition, it just makes you look dumb.
Everything is a competition
take a blaze off this list
Listen to this. If you don't like it just give up and listen to flower metal.
I've listened to power/prog metal and classic stuff for the longest time and i was looking for something new and just started looking on Yea Forums, so far i've really liked darkthrone - transylvanian hunger and panzerfaust, celtic frost - into mega therion, bathory - bathory, hammerheart, and blood fire death, to name a few but it's been pretty mind blowing because theres so much stuff i've never heard or knew existed (like goregrind) and so many sub-genres that i didn't know about because i've always stayed within the same couple genres for so long. good stuff.
MAY motherfucking HAM
Even Pandora.com is smarter than you.
No one would give a fuck about that album if it wasn't from San Francisco. USBM has been traditionally overrated, except Xasthur and perhaps Leviathan.
Posted a great primer, I'd just add Emperor-Nightside to it.
Halmstad - shining
Deathcade - nocturnal depression
Portal of Sorrow - Xasthur
mayhem without dead is not something people wanna hear
That is probably the greatest black metal song ever recorded.
Black metal is a really diverse genre. I'd start with something resembling music you already like; e.g. I came from a symphonic/power metal background so Dimmu Borgir was a good starting point. What music are you into right now?
Dead wasn't that great a vocalist. Attila is 100 times better. Better showman, too.
Pure Holocaust is incredible. By far the best album with Demonaz on guitar.
Attila is shit, both Dead and Maniac were better vocalists, and how would you know Attila is a better showman? Is your comment just bait cause Attila is so obviously shit?
Maniac is a squealing little faggot. Attila has a great stage presence, a wide array of vocal styles and an overall better studio performance. Just listen to Dead's recordings with Morbid.. it sounds just weak.
I actually wouldn't recommend starting with the 90s shit. Pick something modern that doesn't sound like complete ass and then work your way backwards to see the influence. If you don't mind that they're Nazis, Mgla is bretty good.
Man you don’t know what you’re talking about. Mgla aren’t nazis
Just start with Bathory, Darkthrone, and other classics. Also good newer bands like Gjendod. If you can’t get into these bands and similar then it’s probably not for you
It's pretty well known...
its very melodic and beautiful
It’s not. They aren’t nazis. Where’s your proof? No sieg heiling, swastikas or anything like that. Nothing remotely nazi related in their lyrics
Uh, the guitarist dude has collaborated with Mikko Aspa who's a pretty well known Nazi. When I saw them in Poland, their openers did the Hitler salute at the end of their set. They're not in your face about it, but they definitely are.
Yes this is probably the most formally perfect black metal record but I don't want fags like OP memeing it
So you assume they are based on association? In that case every metal band is guilty of something.
Considering they're working with Nazis and taking them on as support, yeah pretty much. I mean, maybe you just like to go to gay bars and hang around gay guys, HEY DON'T ASSUME BRO, but come on.
Then like I said, nearly every band is guilty by association for something. Your band is influenced by Burzum? That means you listen to him and are therefore guilty of having similar views. Your band played with another band that played with a potentially national socialist band? Must be guilty. Also bands don’t always choose their support acts or know of every other bands political views
And your point doesn’t make sense. If an individual goes to a gay bar and is not gay yet you assume he is, that still doesn’t make him gay.
Now this is just dumb. Personal associations matter a fuckton more than just liking an album.
People aren't going to like this but the album that got me into black metal was "hate them" by Darkthrone
Yep, I listened to this for the first time at 14 and I remember three minutes into it I knew it was totally special that was gonna stay with me forever, even though I didn't quite "get it"
11 years on it's still probably my favourite piece of music
What didn't you like about Burzum?
Fine but it makes sense to me. You are willing to tolerate the views of a band and take influence from them despite disagreeing with their ideology. And what about my other points? Your points are only based on assumptions. You haven’t spoken to the band members nor shown me any outright proof that makes them nazis
All of rap.
this is like that album but better
Just listen to Mayhem then stop listening to black metal and listen to hardcore punk and noise rock instead.
they could just like that band, i mean, does you having interest in mgla make you a nazi
And when you win the Black Metal competition what do you gain? You walk around frustrated at normal people who actually get enjoyment out of music, and you look like a retard.
Win at school or at the gym instead, don't spend energy on useless shit like this.
I AM THE BLACK WIZARDS
>not understanding the spiritual gainz of true BM
If you can't get into black metal without being spoonfed recs, its not gonna be for you. Fuck off tourist.
Most of it is edgelord shit for neckbeards and closet nazis but there are a few gems.
Quorthon from Bathory was a fantastic songwriter. Immortal don't take themselves too seriously but are still super talented at what they do. Macabre Omen is a great newer band if you like those. Xasthur has more of a psychedelic, druggie, homeless in LA feel to it, very uniquely North American and resonates with me more than most of the other lo-fi/atmospheric stuff that comes out of the US
Ok, listening to again, I really do enjoy the first track. Awesome shit, thanks for the rec.
This was surprisingly enjoyable.
I really like Bathory, although it makes sense since it's pretty thrashy and it's one of my favorite genres.
I seem to enjoy the more atmospheric shit as well.
This was some great shit, thanks man.
Eat shit, faggots.
based
Really unorthodox for black metal, but Mesarthim has grown on me over the past few weeks.
youtube.com
>Uh, the guitarist dude has collaborated with Mikko Aspa who's a pretty well known Nazi. When I saw them in Poland, their openers did the Hitler salute at the end of their set. They're not in your face about it, but they definitely are.
>closet nazis
We're all pretty open about it mate
contrary to popular belief most people don't want their music to be made by neckbeards who want to rape children and think the jews control everything
both r kelly and mel gibson are in pretty low public opinion, that does not make their detractors irl equivalents of onions wojak faces
>hanging out with faggots is just as corrosive to the character as hanging out with nazis
>equating faggots to national socialists
based and redpilled
Sell me on death metal.
darkthrone and the mayhem demos
>listening to a band vaguely connected to a band with one member that doesn't believe europe should become islamo-communist means you listen to music made by "neckbeards" who rape children and other lefty strawman and projections
>"contrary to popular belief"
