>Lennon & McCartney said it's a revolutionary and innovative album
>Keith Moon said there's nothing revolutionary about it and Beach Boys' previous albums were better
Who was in the wrong here?

Keith Moon literally couldn't see his own fucking fingers he was on so much drugs. He likely didn't even know he was being interviewed and was just talking to himself.
The vocal harmonies is what distinguishes this album. If that’s not your thing, it kind of sounds like light classical movie soundtrack filler.
both were wrong, the entirety of the beach boys' work is corny shit
Bringe and purplepilled.
Why don't you make up your own mind you fucking tool
This.
Haha, boy are you guys gonna like this...
but regardless of anything, fuck Keith Moon. Great drummer but he finally gave meaning to the term punchable face for me
This is true, but especially true here.
Need I remind anyone of this song?
youtube.com
I literally can't think of a more autistic song
>I'm so special and such a genius but no one wants to help me, guess I'm too good for them!
**Forgot the fucking link
His whole solo album was a disaster though.

Keith Moon was a delusional schizophrenic drug freak. A talented delusional schizophrenic drug freak, but still a delusional schizophrenic drug freak. He was absolutely obsessed with the Beach Boys' Don't Worry Baby, like Brian was obsessed with Be My Baby.

It's pretty well known that it was an influence for Sgt Peppers. But Rubber Soul was an influence for Pet Sounds.
The difference was that Brian was inspired by Rubber Soul in that he wanted to make an album that was all good songs, no filler, and that's what he did with Pet Sounds. The Beatles heard it and were inspired in such a way that they wanted to make a revolutionary album with strange instrumentation just like Pet Sounds. Songs like A Day in the Life or She's Leaving Home probably wouldn't have existed without Pet Sounds, and Sgt. Pepper might have taken on a far more distinctively rock flavor. They might have even carried on with the Sgt. Pepper concept.
Actually I'm pretty sure "Revolver" was the one inspired by Pet Sounds (Good Day Sunshine, Here There And Everywhere).
And don't for ONE SECOND kid yourself that Wilson wasn't influenced by their actual music.
>"Moon attended Alperton Secondary Modern School after failing his eleven plus exam, which precluded his attending a grammar school.[5] His art teacher said in a report: 'Retarded artistically. Idiotic in other respects'"

Nothing in the lyrics indicates that the singer thinks highly of himself, he's just saying he can't find where he belongs, and if anything there's actually a disconnect between how people view him and how he views himself ("they say I've got brains but they ain't doing me no good")
More to the point, you can put literally every song into a box by greentext memeing it. I could write a book on the incredible yuppie narcissism of "Imagine"
Then please do. Every second thread here is Lennon-bashing,
and every third is how "Smile" is a masterpiece, and Brian is such a genius.
It's getting kind of old.
now:
>Nothing in the lyrics indicates that the singer thinks highly of himself
Let's see:
>"I've been trying hard to find the people
That I won't leave behind"
translation: because he's so far ahead, obviously
>"Every time I get the inspiration
To go change things around
No one wants to help me look for places
Where new things might be found"
translation: I'm surrounded by plebs
Mike Love is mean. Woe is me.
>I guess I just wasn't made for these times
translation: I belong in the future!
(in case you think he means he belongs in 16th century Italy, a theremin solo makes absolutely clear he wasn't)
Lennon may have been a dick in many ways, but THIS, this is the kinda shit that almost begs for some bullying.
If someone (anyone) on the Internet expressed such sentiments in those words, they would be memed and laughed till suicide.
>Keith Moon
Bonham has him beat in technique and Ginger Baker has him beat in innovation and influence
>all this armchair psychology
get a grip
Implying that Lemon doesn't deserve the bashing
I don't think he does, though
