ITT: Modern classics
ITT: Modern classics
That term is an oxymoron
Mirror to mirror is, not so much yours
Based, I'm just gonna post my favourite from the last 10 years.
Based
Everything posted so far has been pure shit.
post your choice
thats not even macs or alexs best album but ok
The test determined that was a lie.
Debating modern "classics" is like choosing the prettiest looking shit out of a sewer. Nothing made in the past 30 years even comes close to true classics like Revolver, Abbey Road, Bitches Brew, The Velvet Underground's debut, Pop Group's Y, and Trout Mask Replica. Music as a medium hasn't been pushed or innovated for decades and the fact that twee shit like Mac Demarco and CSH is even posted in these threads is embarrassing.
not even the best viper album faggot faggot you absolute faggot
Is This It, Funeral, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, To Pimp a Butterfly
All albums that have innovated and will certainly be called classics by even the general public
>Is This It
>Funeral
>My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
>To Pimp a Butterfly
>innovative
oof you just posted cringe bro
Is This It is the safest alternative rock album I've ever seen praised as something more. Funeral is a fine album, but ultimately baroque pop; not innovative at all. MBDTF isn't even the most innovative Kanye West album. To Pimp a Butterfly... what?
that isn't the best one either, tardo
Nothing posted in this thread will be remembered in 50 years.
post albums that will be remembered in 50 years then retard
>not even posting the good version of the album
I cant, everything from this generation of music is garbage and deserves to be forgotten
aight enjoy your blues music boomer
do you deny they will be considered classics? no? then stfu
nawf
I do, except for MBDTF. The rest are garbage.
based
garbage or not they will be deemed classics.
Rolling Stone practically creams itself for Is This It and loves to give pretend its varied by throwing in albums that aren't straight up rock. The general public will definitely remember TPAB and MBDTF.
You zoomers will live to see your favorite music become irrelevant just like every other generation. Except it will be much worse for you because rap is objectively abhorrent.
boomers mad
I can agree with this one. A rock solid classic rock record.
I love this album and listen to it more often than the others, but I think Salad Days is more of a modern classic
Agree
mirror to mirror fucking blows, i enjoyed the numbered albums wayy more
Is This It is most certainly not innovative, it sounds no different from garage rock being made decades before
I just don't understand how someone who enjoys music enough to frequent a music board can just disregard an entire genre, especially a genre with so much versatility.
None of these are good
pic related; I also think that someday, we'll look at a lot of odd future's stuff, and live.love.asap, and remember them a lot, not necessarily because they're such high quality but because they're representative of some very significant moments/changes in hip hop
Absolutely
not even top 3 demarco records. still a decent effort from Mac
best album
sound of silver is a definitely a better album but this does have some undeniably great songs on it. 45:33 seems to be always overlooked and is probably my personal favourite of theirs
probably 2000s aotd
Yes to all these
gud opener
the rest is low-velocity dogshit
Probably one of the worst opinions I've ever seen on this entire website
because ive only ever listened to the opener! ha ha ha!
NOT MODERN. That sound was classic in 1967
>Locust Valley and Eyesore
mmmmmmmmmmm yeah i think thats it
Well listen to the rest already, you silly billy
eh, sure. If this thread's still up in 45 I'll give you my take :)
Opener is still 10/10
Riding with the Ghost and Just Be Simple are songs that I've heard before a million times w/o knowing it. concisely written; beri gud
Almost Was Good Enough and Lunch Box Blues dont stand out at all, though I'm sure I could come to love the female vocals on the latter.
The way John Henry Split My Heart picks up where Farewell Transmission left off with the Long Dark Bluuuuuuues refrain was pretty much immaculate.
Still don't know what to feel about Hold On Magnolia.
You'd have to get me at gunpoint to say it's a modern classic, though. The lyrics certainly stand out immensely, and the production overall is top shelf. On first listen it remains a very much standard-issue alt-country affair.
One day you'll understand, kid. Especially if you're lonely and drink too much...
Yeah, I was gonna say. Maybe once I'm older I'll be able to zone in on those delicious rural American feels.
I take back my inital post, though, for sure.
loved it tho but, dont think its a classic
2016 best year for music this decade t b h
YES
protip: its because hes white and hates that the genre is headed by black people
If we're talking about striking a balance between quality and lasting popularity...
whoops accidentally posted the single cover lol
