Itt music where the influence greatly precedes the quality

starting with an obvious one

Both Stockhausen and Harry Partch

TVU&N
Sgt Peppers
Pet Sounds
Trout Mask Replica
The list goes on...

what does that even mean

more influential than they are great works of music

What constitutes a "great work of music"?

You're coming at these albums with the gift of hindsight and all the music that came after. NMTB was not all that great, even at the time; it was just shocking and different. The albums you listed (never heard trout mask) are actually good records and were among the best music of their time.

80's hip hop in general.

Beastie Boys's first two albums are still great

TVU&N

dont be a fag

Imagine having this shitty of a take. Hip hop peaked in the late 80s before it became too costly to use samples heavily. Groups like Public Enemy, De La Soul, BDP, Eric B & Rakim, and ATCQ are the best that Hip Hop has to offer. If you think otherwise then I'd like to hear what you think are the best hip hop albums

MUH MUSIC IS SUBJECTIVE REEEEEEEEE

That Sex Pistols were shit but had influence on bands that ended up being much better.

thanks now i know what great music is. i was wrong all along i cant believe it

cope

NMTB is great, fags.

It may not be the most experimental album but they do what they do extremely well. Every song is memorable
I'm not sure that this record influenced all that much but it certainly is overrated by fans

The obvious answer.

>Sex Pistols were shit
not at all, they're quite catchy

leo delibes' ballets

No album influenced by TVU&N and Sgt. Pepper's is better than TVU&N and Sgt. Pepper's.

>Sex Pistols were shit
Return to Reddit and take your garbage taste with you

the singles from it alone means it can't be overrated

The fundamental issue with Who's Next. Half of it is fantastic, and the other half is utterly forgettable.

Pretty much what said. Outside of Baba O'riley, Won't Get Fooled Again and Behind Blue Eyes it's all filler. An album where 2/3rds of its tracks are mediocre shouldn't be regarded as an all time great.

Based

I hate when people base their reviews of an album on a few songs instead of all of the songs

>Has only heard the hit singles off the album

Get a load of this pleb.

The first 3 Bathory albums. I do actually like Under The Sign a lot, but self titled and The Return are total fucking anus and sound like they were recorded with a lego and there is nothing special or noteworthy about them besides their place in black metal history.
