the return was such a massive letdown. not terrible by any stretch, probably would be a good show if it wasn't connected to the original. But it was way to unfocused and aimless. the original had a clear murder mystery and the small town drama that ensued as a nice focal point for all the surrealist more "out there" moments to spin out from. now all the bizzaro stuff feels random and chaotic and like it's building to nothing. i did like the bomb episode though. just wished it had more payoff

My one criticism of it is that the plot completly changes in the last 2 eps and none of the slow build up has any real relevance.
All the things going on in the town? Mr. C's plan and the coordinates? 16 hours of plotting and mysterious events? All irelevant and solved with a capeshit fight from some random guy, cooper doesn't even face his doppleganger. And then Cooper is back for like 5 minutes of screentime before he goes into judyworld.
I'll say that the last episode is really compelling. But it feels like the beginning of a new story instead of a ending.

It was perfect. Lynch knew the fans were rabid for Cooper's return and deliberately withheld that moment for as long as possible. He made us earn it. As tedious as the Dougie scenes might seem to get after a certain point, it ultimately served to make Cooper's return more of a journey and less of a gratuitous cameo. There's actual catharsis when he gets his mind back.
