A few decades ago, people would actually go deaf and develop tinnitus.
These days, as long as you have good stage monitoring, where you don't need to constantly turn yourself up to hear what you're playing, you'll be fine.
Some bands just use in-ear monitors and silently plug their gear into the house PA system.
In a modern day gig, the crowd mostly hears the PA, not your amps. Being on stage doesn't sound the same as being on the crowd.
A lot of them do, or did.
But, stage volumes aren't that loud, as they're behind the PA, so most of the damage came from the amps right in back of them. In-ear monitors and ear plugs can reduce the risk of damage. If you're playing live and not using ear plugs, you're dumb. Don't get tinnitus like I did, it really fucking sucks.

If you're talking about the cheap low end Epis then yes they are shit compared to a Gibson. They higher end Epis are much better and if set up right are very good for the money. But to be fair, you'd probably be better off getting a used LP Studio for the same price as a new high end Epi.

I've tried the Boss Kaka and it's totally shit. I believe most of the hype around it is created by Boss's marketing team (read shills) and by beginners who don't really know good tone from a bad one, they just look at the specs like its 1x12 speaker, all the built in effects, all the effects you can add to it with your computer and also its USB recording feature so they see all that and its price and they think it's the best thing ever when you can't even find an amp with a 12 inch speaker in that price range let alone all the other features it offers. I've heard the THR10 and it's infinitely better sounding than the Boss Kaka but I don't like the high gain version as it's geared towards metal.

Haven't tried the other models but the C is the one for 'blues, jazz and cleans'. The original is the allrounder model I guess with an option for clean, crunch, gain. There's only two settings that yield a decent gain tone on the C but none of them I would use for metal. The crunch and cleans are superb though. I would assume it sounds as dry as the other models without any effects. Every amp does without reverb in my opinion. Also keep in mind that these things don't take pedals well. The tone at about 12:40 is probably the most metal you can get out of the thing. You really have to play them in person though, the youtube demos sound really boxy but those amps all have stereo effects.

EVH just announced 5150 iiiS combos, 1x12 and 2x12 but I can't find any differences between them and the head or old head combos. Also, they cost more than the iiiS head + 2x12 cab separately.

most "rosewood" is dyed anyways, since the naturally dark stuff is protected. there's no practical difference but it's cheaper and you can't brag about having "REAL rosewood"

as it would happen, when you use up all the furniture-grade wood for making fancy furniture, you can no longer make fancy furniture, and that includes guitars that are made to double as wall art and conversation pieces. thankfully it does not affect the tone at all.

I play the bottom E vs the middle E so that the Bass and Mids are the same volume, adjust the presence by making the top E the same volume as the middle E. I try to get the gain just past breakup so it doesn't sound like note soup and then boost the treble a little more for a more aggressive bite. Not too much!

As for the color. It's kind of a chameleon color. Depending on the light it can have green/blue/purple/red tones to it.
