Pretty good price but unless you can see yourself playing live and you actually want to learn the acoustic, not just use it as a stepping stone to electric, you might as well get one without a pickup.

I’m not a fan of Taylor guitars, I find the sound a bit sterile.
I just wanted to post in favour of Martin before the Taylor or Gibson fags stepped in, truth is there are many excellent acoustic guitar makes and models, I’d say as minimum for a top acoustic you are looking for an all solid wood construction but beyond good craftsmanship it’s all down to personal preference on shape, wood, sound and playability.
Ryder Nelson

Gibsons are not expensive guitars. Shitloads of other companies make guitars that equal or exceed gibson quality and like gibson. And gibson's prices aren't unusual either - $3000 for a high end electric guitar is pretty much the standard. Fender custom shop*, ESP, Ibanez, Strandberg, Mayones, you name it.
*Unlike the gibson "custom shop" fender actually makes guitars to customer specifications

Selmer style guitars with 'o' sound holes. Looks good man. I suggest you head down to your local music shop and test a few different models though. Acoustics are extremely finicky.
Christian Ward
play along to your favorite albums to train your ear and understanding of how music is composed, plus its fun :)
Connor Moore
You should start studying music theory as soon as possibly. You don't know what you're talking about. I know nothing about the courses on justinguitar but reading sheet music is something anyone can learn in an afternoon but there are almost no situations where a hobby guitarist, or even professional, will need to read sheet music (besides, there is no such thing as pure sheet music for guitar)

Well gibson is good in a vintage context where your other option is a fender boat paddle with a 7.25" radius or some random custom shop piece of shit. So say you travel back in time and must order a gutiar from the nearest catalog - your best bet is a gibson. The superstrat hasn't been invented yet and fender has yet to figure out how to make a good guitar. And they're overpriced relative to gibsons, which have yet to inflate due to jewish management.
On the other hand dean was never good
Blake James
Caring about electric guitar brands is kind of a fucking meme, man. If they can stay in tune and have decent parts inside they're as good as any other electric guitar. Barring personal preference for dimensions, finishes and fretboard material, of course.

Angel Carter
Some brands tend to be more consistent quality-wise. I honestly wouldn't gamble spending $1000+ on an instrument with the risk of it being poorly constructed.
Kayden Hughes
well some people think it's smart to pay twice as much for the same quality as a $500 dean
some people think only a gibson is good enough and unironically buy the cheap tribute, faded, and studio models
James Nelson
>Then why cant you make any listenable music with your superior gear? You are yet to do that LMFAO, you couldn't even figure out how to record your amp.. get a fucking life you loser
Pedals are for fahs with no gain and no skill so they need to cover it up with time based effects. Its like how basketball dropouts buy jordans and pretend they play pro basketball.

Pedals were only created because amps used to suck. Now amps are good and you'd be better off buying a good amp than something that says "fender" or "vox" on it.
Connor Murphy
>When should I start caring about getting a pedal?
When you're a competent player. Give it like 5 more years.
Jonathan Rivera
Get a decent multifx and forget about it
Aaron Reed
But Fender makes good amps
Parker Bennett
Pedals are worthless shit for people trying to be "unique" >no one else has my "rig"! i might not be good but i'm special!
They don't make very versatile amps. Owning a fender amp is correlated with wanting an overdrive pedal like owning EMG pickups is correlated with wanting an EQ pedal.
Landon Myers

Pedals are used as band aids for shitty players that early. Get good on acoustic first because acoustic makes you play much much tighter than electric.
Get a multi to start so you know what everything is, then get individual pedals with tbp.
Also build your own clone is really fun if you have a soldering iron.

You're such a fucking tool, man.

Go with tele. Bridge is harder to fuck up. I'd just be embarrassed at the headstock. That said, I spent 500 dollars on my first guitar because the sunk cost fallacy forces you to play it if you spend a bunch of money on it. If you are concerned about whether you will actually learn then spend more money.
Austin Hill
Ace Frehley did the same in the 80s with his 59 burst

>he cant afford 4g lte Literal peasant lmfao What a cope post. Yes and youre right i can play something.
>implying 99% of acoustic players don't just learn chord changes and strumming patterns and call it a day
it has it worse than electric guitar and all the kids who just learn that you can make a fifth chord on any two of the lower three strings, get their palm muting down and stop progressing after that
though between the two electric is more difficult and demanding to play due to amplification and the narrower neck >accidental pull-off on acoustic: not there >accidental pull-off on electric: major fuck up >accidentally muting adjacent strings on an acoustic: how did you manage to do that? >accidentally muting adjacent strings on an electric: arch your fingers more fag
in the vain hope that somebody will notice the bassist
Dominic Peterson

Another day, another sambo dollar
Samuel Reed
That's not true at all. You play more cleanly and tight because you don't have effects covering up your mistakes and you aren't just chugging power chords like a retard.
Play acoustic, learn your standard maj, min and 7th chords then move into more jazz and r&b to continue learning more chords like diminished and half diminished, maj and min 7, maj and min 9.
Early electric players don't learn full barring because all you have to do for mehdull and bunk is chug power chords and do pinch harmonics.
I can play cleanly on a tele into a clean amp like a fender and the only difference is it's it's much much easier to play faster.
Thomas Rivera
And another warm tranny load up his ass
Josiah Robinson
Yeah you're manically sturmming first position chords like a retard and the cacophony combined with your shitty singing covers up any mistakes. Learning acoustic rarely progresses into learning fucking jazz.
Play electric guitar with light gain and compression but not enough for full on metalhead distortion and you'll learn all that but better.
Easton Long
>electric guitar can only be played with effects and the gain on 11 >acoustic guitar is exclusively played by fingerstyle jazz pros

But you can't deny that acoustic is the more forgiving instrument of everything but finger strength (because it's that one case where light strings do actually sound worse)

I play all over the neck because I've actually learned barring and caged. D for example sounds much better when barred with c form. You can also play acoustic while watching tv or doing anything and it doesn't require a rig.
I'm also and I distain people who can't just play and only play open chords. Also I'm probably the best singer in thread.
Caleb Foster
wtf is a sambo?
Matthew Torres
You must be that poor brazillian. Here in the first world we have "long cables" and "headphone amps" like this. A "rig"? It's a guitar, a cable, and box. Maybe a guitar, a box, and headphones. I have no respect for people who need pedals.
And if you're not catching on to what the open chord strummer comment was meant to convey you're hopeless
>electric guitarists don't into barre chords >a dramatic fretboard radius of 9.5" is common for the sole purpose of making barre chords easier to play
/gg/ is retarded

Anyone who is even a little bit interested in becoming decent at guitar will stumble into jazz. The fact that so few electric exclusive players ever do is honestly very very telling.
Nolan Morris
One of the first things I do to gauge people's skill level is play Minor Swing with them.

electric players are the only ones moving jazz forward instead of staying planted in the 20th century because "that aint real jazz"
the most progress in jazz has actually been made without any instruments at all

That's because Jazz is the new classical. In another 100 years it'll just be a bunch of wankers playing the same repertoire over and over again and analyzing it to death.
Composers will have moved on to something else.

>when I find a new thing to learn, love playing my guitar for a few days >get bored and either put guitar down or move on to the next thing before I even get close to mastering the last thing How to overcome bad practice habits? During the first few days of finding a new thing, I become noticeably better at it fast enough that it stays fun. Once it gets to that point where I'm just grinding to the point of mastery I lose all enthusiasm. It sucks that I have basically nothing to show for all of my guitar practice because I can do little bits of songs crappily.
Sebastian Lewis
Gear doesn't matter. Everyone who argues over gear is an asshole.
You can even play metal on an acoustic if you want, just add the effects later.
Jaxon Garcia
If you aren't using the chord forms you learn from jazz to write r&b you're doing acoustic guitar wrong lol.
When it comes to songwriting, having more stylish and colorful chords allows you to write better and more technicql melodies. Plus playing C am G em D songs on acoustic is something me and metal guy actually agree is fucking lame. Yesterday I put some chords togeter and it was em7, cmaj7, am7, dm9 then bm7 to am7 with a chromatic walk and resolving to gmaj7.
Admittedly I lean too much on 7ths and need to learn to use more 7-5s and 9s in writing. I also want to put a diminished chord in the hook just as a challenge. Jamiroquai did it in Virtual insanity. They went bmaj7 to db diminished in the fucking hook.
