Holy shit this is an awesome album. Especially with either good headphones or sound system. Not a bad song on here

Is this the greatest rap album of all time?

probably close to it
it's also ridiculously fun to listen to while avin a smoke with your pals

Yeah it is.

yep

i hate you fucking tourists so much

Attached: 1440322959261.gif (428x587, 350K)

you're a fucking idiot

maybe try listening to hip hop for more than a week before heralding the most entry level old school album as the greatest ever, you fucking 12 year old

But it is probably the best hiphop album of the 90s atleast. Does everything have to be underground and obscure for you to love it
Do you inherently stay away from these masterpieces because youre afraid to be called a newfag, entry-level, pleb or tourist? And you express these insecurities on to others to make you feel superior. PATHETIC
Its popular for a reason

AGAIN AND AGAIN

A) I'm not OP
B) I've been listening to hip hop for years
C) There is nothing wrong with heralding this classic as the best hip hop album, despite how entry-level it is, the fact of the matter is that there aren't many hip hop albums I can name that deserve classic status like this one, if you disagree then fucking name some instead of crying about it you weeb scum

Almost as good.

Can I enjoy this if I can't understand the lyrics?

Liquid Swords is a contender. Iron Man ('96) too

Attached: R-3536944-1334341450.jpeg.jpg (300x292, 18K)

Not even close

Attached: 20190722_060237.jpg (720x719, 343K)

You don't think an album heralded as a classic is in the running for best in the genre? Absolute fucking pseud. I'd rather have tourists than contrarian fuckwits.

Thug Mentality by Krayzie Bone is better
So is Art of war by Bone Thugs. N that's coming from someone who was A Wu Tang fan before I even heard of Bone Thugs

>you fucking 12 year old
12yr olds listen to wu-tang?

Attached: CjcQBE6.jpg (362x346, 38K)

but OP this exists

imo Illmatic > 36 Chambers > Lost Tapes > Liquid Swords > It Was Written > Cuban Links > Ironman

>Is this the greatest rap album of all time?
Nope.

Attached: 400degreez.jpg (600x600, 154K)

It's unique- I'd say it's a very strong contender. Illmatic, The Low End Theory, Mecca & The Soul Brother, It Takes a Nation of Millions, Ready to Die, Buhloone Mindstate, MBDTF, A Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde are all gr8

Fuck you

op here my bad i meant to post pic related

Attached: Three_6_Mafia_-_Mystic_Stylez.jpg (300x300, 18K)

Not the best IMO.

Madlib beats and Doom’s flow on this album is so sick!

Borderline
schizo,
sort of fine tits
though
Pour the wine, whore to grind, quarter to nine,
let's go
Ever since ten eleven, glad she made a brethren
Then it's last down,
seven alligator
seven,
at the gates of heaven
Knocking, no answer, slow dancer, hopeless romancer,
dopest flow stanzas
Yes, no? Villain, Metal face to Destro
Guess so,
still incredible in escrow
Just say Ho!
I'll test the yayo
Wild West style fest,
y'all best to lay low

good pick, every song is so different but so consistently good

doom is shit white boi

Attached: acidrap.jpg (500x500, 62K)

Kanye is overrated trash. MF doom is overrated also

Doom is rap for white people desu.

>if you're not talking about some shitty soundcloud nobody rapper you're not a REAL music fan

fuck off. genre tourism is a bullshit concept.

>MF Doom is overrated
This is the worst take I've ever had the misfortune of reading.

not that guy but you can't post acidrap and then call somebody else a whiteboi

Not quite

Attached: 220px-OriginalPirateMaterial.jpg (220x220, 26K)

It definitely is. 7th Chamber part 2 is peak rap

t. listened to 5 hip hop albums

Attached: 1444687592554.jpg (568x724, 66K)

I don't think so. Album came out the day I was born.

Boom bap just sounds shitty, the samples of 90's hiphop are incredibly abrasive and rarely sound good at an objective level. It was like everyone was trying to make the bare minimum for a beat.

I can't listen to the entire album from front to back, and I've never been able to. I think the album is incredibly overrated. Also every single member that isn't Method Man has awful delivery.

>Kanye is overrated trash. MF doom is overrated also

Who do you like faggot?

not even the best 3-6, that's Smoked Out Loced Out

Not bad OP but this is the best rap album of the 90s

Lol Kanye fan calling someone A fag.... I like Krayzie Bone the artist with the most talented flow of all time.

Wrong! This album is the best of the 90s

This is how you look

I gotta disagree. I was born in 95 and for the longest time I thought boom bap was super dated. When I was first developing an interest in music, chiefly during highschool, I always saw boom bap instrumentals as too minimal and musically unrefined in comparison to the trap style that was, and still is, largely omnipresent. As time went on though, I've come to realize that minimalism is exactly what makes it so good. The instrumentals aren't too busy unlike in trap, which gives the rapper more 'space' to carve out an interesting groove in the rhythm. There are very few rappers I've heard ride a trap instrumental and be able to actually engage in rhythmic interplay with the beat. Like 80% are just content to beat the triplet flow to death and call it a day. Boom bap instrumentals not only allow a rapper to engage with a beat with room for rhythmic variation; they encourage it.

Underground tape vol. 1

Yeah when I first tried to get into Wu Tang I just couldn't because I thought they sounded too dated. And then eventually I realized the raw grittiness is part of what makes it so good. And 36 Chambers' instrumentals are actually surprisingly detailed. Plus once u start to learn each member's style and you're able to tell them apart, it becomes more fun to listen to the album because you're constantly hit with a new flavor that keeps the tracks from getting stale

Staten Islander here. Fuck anyone that doesnt appreciate the Wu Tang. Mef still shops at the mall like a normal dude fyi

I appreciate Wu, but at same time I don't appreciate when mfos claim they are the greatest, when Bone Thugs exist, fuck anyone that doesn't appreciate Bone Thugs. Btw I was A Wu fan before I started listening to Bone Thugs so I have the right to say it!

Entry level albums are often great. That's why they're entry level; they appeal to many and are usually very good.

Interesting point of view, I can see that. Thanks for not calling me a faggot.
I'll give it another listen soon I guess.

Hip hop isn't a genre with a lot of depth or a large canon of great albums. There are very few to choose from.

Eh Big L's children of the corn is better in my opinion

wu tang is for the children

Liquid Swords being the best WuTang album is just a fact, no need for debates.

Y'all are just posting classics like Kendrick didn't surpass them already. This is the greatest album, in music history, all genres.
