fucking trash
Boomer central but on the upside there's no trannies
Better than your precious rym, trannie
>what about
kys
People still use it?
You have no defense. Not an argument
And for what it's worth anything is preferable to rym cancer, I use discogs though
For cataloging actual vinyl you own?
No just looking stuff up
Whataboutism is literally not an argument, you mentally-handicapped onanist.
Please go gape your rotting mutilated fronthole while we normal people have a music discussion here.
>Better than your precious rym, trannie
>You have no defense. Not an argument
seamless
Yeah. I actually got into the Pixies because of them
Hey fuck you BITCH
>welcome to allmusic, here's your music expert
It really depends on the writer. It's not that terrible.
this is more of a comment really
Does it have a rating feature?
>With their second album, Miles Smiles, the second Miles Davis Quintet really began to hit their stride, delving deeper into the more adventurous, exploratory side of their signature sound. This is clear as soon as "Orbits" comes crashing out the gate, but it's not just the fast, manic material that has an edge -- slower, quieter numbers are mercurial, not just in how they shift melodies and chords, but how the voicing and phrasing never settles into a comfortable groove. This is music that demands attention, never taking predictable paths or easy choices. Its greatest triumph is that it masks this adventurousness within music that is warm and accessible -- it just never acts that way. No matter how accessible this is, what's so utterly brilliant about it is that the group never brings it forth to the audience. They're playing for each other, pushing and prodding each other in an effort to discover new territory. As such, this crackles with vitality, sounding fresh decades after its release. And, like its predecessor, ESP, this freshness informs the writing as well, as the originals are memorable, yet open-ended and nervy, setting (and creating) standards for modern bop that were emulated well into the new century. Arguably, this quintet was never better than they are here, when all their strengths are in full bloom.
yeah
I used to use it, but tying album reviews to a single person's taste is not that useful. Also the ads and scripts started getting annoying
Is your point here that In A Silent Way exists?
Really well written and informative, what's the problem?
>short and actually talks about the music
>doesn't just talk about memes and "cultural context"
It's not a tranny's tumblr blogpost either
wtf I love Miles Davis now
10 years ago it was a really good way to find new music, because it lists all sorts of related artists, and you can explore music from all sorts of different genres. I found a few favorites through it.
However, RYM made it irrelevant, at least for me. RYM has more reviews, some of which are worse, but some of which are way better. It has better genre tags. RYM vs. Allmusic is basically a case study in why a controlled, single-source site is inferior to a community-based one.
>but some of which are way better
Name one (1) good review on rym.
I can already tell you're an edgy faggot, so check out the user turkeybeard
RYM used to have a lot of intelligent people with serious music knowledge and exploration like Antiwarhol and Pabanks but now it's full of idiots thinking meme rap is the peak of music and culture. Just like this board, just like last.fm, just like reddit music subs, all the internet is now full of easily pleased retards
There's a lot of shit, but there's still a lot of good stuff. Also, I have no idea what you're referring to with the meme rap fans, because I don't look at the trap rap reviews. I look at the stuff I actually like.
Those are the most attention seeking. Also the front page reviews are usually for some hip hop shit
Fair - I truly don't pay any attention to it, though. I know I have niche interests, so I pretty much have blinders on for anything other than stuff I'm interested, which is probably a big part of why I enjoy RYM so much. I've gotten good at ignoring the noise.
>Boomer central
(counting only studio albums)
>Beatles gets 11 five star albums
>Rolling Stones gets 9 five star albums
>Bob Dylan gets 9 five star albums
>Bruce Springsteen gets 7 five star albums
>Led Zeppelin gets 6 five star albums
>Elvis Presley gets 5 five star albums
>mfw Beach Boys only gets 2 five star albums
>(counting only studio albums)
>Led Zeppelin gets 6 five star albums
Led Zeppelin is a meme, their middle period of IV, Houses and PG was incredible, but they really declined by their end, and their early albums are overrated as fuck
Plant's solo career isn't notable either and Page faded away
Idk, Led Zep 2, 3, and 4 are fantastic IMO
I only really care about those three albums, though
>10 years ago
Try 20 years ago
You're telling me you were on Allmusic in 1999? Come on, now
Yes, I would spend entire evenings after school reading biographies and album reviews on there, usually looking up whatever band was playing on the radio. Discovered a ton of music. It was one of the few early internet non-porn sites that was easy to navigate.
Do you or anyone else itt remember digitaldreamdoor?
An important thing is that RYM's genre system is the only one on the internet that actually works. Discogs is missing many important subgenres and Allmusic has bullshit made up ones like "Scandinavian Metal", "Punk/Wave" and "Alternative/Indie Pop Rock"
I like discogs but the genre system is fucking retarded and makes accurate searches impossible. Only good if you're an actual record collector
3.5/4 star reviews tend to be pretty good
4.5 star reviews are wildly hit or miss
5 star reviews are predictable as hell
Anything below 3.5 more or less reads the same 95% of the time
Yep, I still occasionally look up lists on there. It's max comfy boomercore.
this. makes me wonder why so many fags here get triggered by the handful of trannies on the site
