I listened through the whole thing since it’s so short anyway, I think there’s a lot of interesting ideas but they need more formatting and the mix needs polishing because the digital manipulation has left some harsh transient noise, second track was my favorite
listened to inside, I thought it was a very successful track, the drumming in particular gives great drive to what’s otherwise a melancholy tune

You should experiment with making slower
music. Don't pussyfoot around around
your style.
Finish setting up your account
Not bad overall, but bro heres a tip
for getting your guitars to actually
sound heavy:
Turn knobs marked "gain" or "overdrive"
all the way up. Turn other volume
knobs down to get the loudness
you want. Once you've proved
you can get heavy distortion,
dial things back to find the tone
you want. Focus on being LOUD!!
Some amps won't distort at low
volumes, mainly because that's
dumb as all hell LOL. If yours is like
this, either just play loud or give up

It's alternative rap cause it isn't normal generic rap. Ie alternative

shut the fuck up dubbi. we don't need to post 6 paragraphs like you do

I thought the point of these threads was giving feedback?

i didnt really have nothing to say to my recs, i what i did do is follow them and liked their respected pages. i did as much as i could havee done.

that's only like one small reason. but either way, dubbi doesn't give feedback

Wow you might aswell just quit music now.
Just fucking do it because if you genuinely believe it's all about plays just go and get an office job, THEN you can get clicks for money because all you are is a stain on the artistic industry that needs to be wiped off.

How do you expect to have propper kick

Put some effort in your posts,
Show some personality!!!¡¡¡
Yeah I'm amazing
This is good, but be careful about sampling
The problem I have with 99%
of "musicians" who sample
other people's work is LONGG.
The big thing is with these digital
sound sampling devices, back
in the day my sh!t was ANALOG
bro, do you even know what
analog means? Whatever,
anyway these digital systems
are, we are told, music mimics
par excellence, able to render
the whole orchestral panoply,
plus all that grunts, or squeaks.
The noun "sample" is, in our
comodified culture,pre-fixed by
the adjective free, FREE. as
in STEALING. So now you're
lying about being an artist and
if one is to consider predicating
this subject, perhaps some
thinking aloud on what is not
allowable auditory appropriation
is to be heard.
Some of you, current and potential
samplerists are confused, I KNOW
you're confused, and it's about
the extent to which you can
legally borrow from the ingredients
of other people's sonic
manifestations. Is a musical
property properly private, and
when and how does one trespass
upon it? Like myself, you may covet
something similar to a particular
chord played and recorded
singularly well by the strings of
the estimable Eastman Rochester
Orchestra on a long-deleted
Mercury Living Presence LP
of Charles Ives' Symphony #3
and you're thinking "Oh no,
welp here's another song down
the DRAIN".
You REALLY need to boost your bass.
I'm 100% adjusted to my meds, they're
working great.
...and what's your problem with clowns?¿

This post is dumb. Doing either or both of those will 100% get more people to check out your stuff, in and out of these threads. It's a basic factor of promotion.
Vocals sound like they still need some work, but the first verse and 3:17-3:38 have catchy moments. Not a fan of the instrumental but then again I'm not a fan of DeMarco. Seriously do not quit your day job since you can still improve and both job and music can coexist.

Sup dude. I'm the guy you called shit. at the end of the day, most of us are music hobbyists that won't really end up with a career in this shit. Here's what I think of all 4 of your tracks on SC: They're pretty good i guess. Pretty middle-of-the-road rock tunes that doesn't leave much of an impression on me, but I can see some peeps having a pleasant time with those tracks. It doesn't excite me, that's all. The track you uploaded from last year are more thrilling than the stuff you uploaded two weeks ago. Keep going. the reason I used the word shit and didn't give you an explanation is because it was shit. shit i didn't have the patience to listen to for more than 10 seconds, therefore no thorough critique or analysis could be made due to it being so shitty that I wouldn't even go there.

you're not a hobbyist, you are trying to share your art. a hobbyist builds model cars and puts them on a shelf in his basement. you are sharing your art with the world and you can say you don't want a career in it all you want, but one way or another you're looking for attention just like me and everyone else in this thread.

Attached: FB_IMG_1563410250522.jpg (472x537, 60K)

you are totally right, good on you

be careful when people tell you they like your stuff here... most people here are cock suckers hoping to get follows by being mr nice guy and "hey i love ur sound dude" when its like owls screetching on repeat for 4 minutes

Any tips to add more “power” in the instrumentation through either the arrangement or production. I’m not trying to be passive aggressive I’m just legitimately asking for advice regarding recording/producing/making music because god knows I need it
I’m by the way

Nah Dubbi, the worst thing you said to me ITT was 'plunderfart'. That shit made laugh for real. Totally dismissing an entire genre to a fart joke that works. Anyway, yeah. Most peeps here either sperg out or ignore the criticism entirely. Had to swallow the little pride I had left to give a level-headed response.

Fair enough.
You know what, you're a lot more wiser than me as I can guess that you are 2x older than me, so you've lived far more life experiences that I have yet to endure. I used the word 'hobbyist' loosely to make this whole thing not seem that serious an endeavor. Thank for the honesty.

also, that's not me. Agreed with that sentiment.

As a relative newcomer but old fuck generally, I don't think most of you give yourselves enough credit. Ever hear 85% is just showing up? More like 99%

Good material, nice flow & such, but the mix & master could use some more work!

Maybe ease up on the compressor a bit, you're squashing it more than 90's radio dj's.. Musically it's ok I suppose, not really my cup of tea genre-wise.

I just got home from a music festival, and I think your track killed what was left of my hearning, heh.. It sounded interesting though, I'll give it a proper listen later on if I can remember it.

Attached: Coalbiter-1200px.jpg (1200x1200, 1.15M)

So are you going to do what I said?
>plunderfart
That's one of my favourite jokes!
I have a few suggestions (keep in mind I
don't 100% know what your song is built
out of, depending on how many layers
you have in the song will affect these
suggestions)
1. EQ every instrument to a different
frequency range. That way nothing is
on top of eachother sonically, if
multiple instruments are "stacked" they
will squash the loudness when you
master the track,
3. Mix. mix everything now after the new
EQing, and wile mixing, EQ the master
track with each section (bass, mid, high)
you should be able to have each
section really shining to their maxamumm
now that no instruments will be squshing
the power.
2. Mastering, after you have everything
EQd and mixed, master the song by
compressing (not too much!) the master track, and slowly turn up the gain- not all
the way. adjust the any EQing in the
master track now if you've noticed
any issues but you shouldn't be EQing
all that much (if at all!!!) Slowly turn up
the gain again until the master volume
is hitting 0. Tada! a perfect LOUD mix.
You're welcome.
Good point. The important part is the
act of going thru the motions! If you're
actively creating art and showing it even
to just ONE person, that's more than the
people who gave up. Who said "screw it"
to their artistic endeavours and gave it up
for a 9-5 job and Netflix.

>Fair enough.
>You know what, you're a lot more wiser than me as I can guess that you are 2x older than me

its my belief that the older we get as artists the less we know about making pure art and the more we know about what consumers want, and so we capitulate to that vision rather than our own

i am supremely guilty of this, because people here listen to my music and it sounds boring to them, but of course I'm looking for reach, and the people here are on a "different spectrum" if you catch my drift...

the key to creativity in music, is doing what you think wouldn't be appropriate and not compromising this

the key to success in music is finding a balance between that and peoples expectations of what you -should- be... what you -should- sound like... how that next chord -should- be resolved... what that next verse -should- say... where it -should- rhyme next... etc.

your music right now is 100% by you, for you. If that is your angle, then that's why I don't like it, and how could you expect otherwise (not saying you do, in fact, I believe you don't by how you said it's more of a hobby for you)

But if you expect other people to like it, you gotta give them something... a snippet, a morsel... some kind of brief moment of shelter from the shitstorm. How much of your music is the shitstorm and how much of is the pleasant shelter safespace is a ratio determined by you. How difficult a listen do you want to make it for the listeners? Do you want them to work for it? You want them to search for it? Like a game? Or do you want to just give it to them all the time... some artists are very difficult to listen to, but the reward is all the better when you stick it through and have the patience to listen to it in totality. Some just give you shallow pleasantries the whole way through and however fun or happy the vibe may be, it is much more shallow.

just my 2 cents

Well, your two cents is perhaps the most valuable thing I got from these threads for the 6 months I've been attached. That balancing act of the conventional / experimental or simplicity / complexity where it almost seems entirely original is where the most critically acclaimed works of any type of media / art ever come from. In my mind, there's a lot of cerebral noise that isn't being expressed externally & for engaging potential listeners without alienating them, I have yet to act that out since I don't share my music outside of here + I mostly make music for my own enjoyment instead of the consideration of others'. That's a pretty autistic trait to have desu. Anything that seems to be for a predictive aesthetic that I've seen wore out before many times just tunes me out because there's like this disconnect between the artist & the listener with what the artist's preoccupation of what the potential consumer wants. It's like 4:20 in the morning, my eyes are drooping & I'm not the quickest typist out there. I don't think a lot of what I said made much sense to you. Sorry to cut it short. Not said everything I wanted to add. Really interesting perspectives being shared. Take care.

I don't always do it in the threads, a lot of people don't. A lot of it is in the cloud.
