Why is PRS so famous for their "premium" bodies and finishes when they use 2 piece bodies even in their top end guitars like pic related which costs $4200? Which companies make one piece body guitars nowadays?
It's a 2 piece top, not a 2 piece body. All book-matched tops (which are 99% of the figured tops) are 2 piece. Hince the name "book-matched". I know you're trolling, but at least try harder.
Christian Gutierrez
>try harder >putting effort into something ain't happening
Ayden Thompson
And that's why you'll always be here.
Julian Gomez
What are figured tops and are there any one piece tops available nowadays? I don't like this so called book matched look.
414CE I dropped my bonus on it after using some shit $200 epiphone for 4 years and it's amazing
Eli Sullivan
Yes. To check and see if it buzzes. And also as an exercise to be a completionist. I could also see myself using some of that register of the string for tapping.
Anthony Cook
I'm not asking for checking for buzz or anything but for playing, like in a song. Okay. Do you ever use the low E string beyond the 22nd fret, so on the 23rd and 24th fret?
William Peterson
Yeah, like if I'm playing a solo and I end on the E, at the 12th fret, I'll just reach over with my right hand and whack the string right at the 24th fretwire to get a sick harmonic.
Thomas Barnes
are there even good reasons to have frets on a bass guitar?
Isaiah Perez
Well if you're playing bass instead of guitar it's because you probably sucked so much you had no ear for pitch so yeah you kinda need the frets desu
Camden Rivera
Are mexican fenders that bad compared to american fenders?
Andrew Brooks
Someone tried to tell us that the shape of his hand meant he couldn't play an open E chord recently.
Logan Brooks
is paying 1000 euro for good condition "10 for '15" Limited Edition American Vintage '52 Korina Telecaster worth it or nah? please help
I want to learn bass, is it a good idea to start with a fretless one?
Kayden Powell
Are there any Floyd Rose users in /gg/? What are the negatives or other problems with it I should know of before getting a guitar with one in it?
Adrian Gonzalez
It's a pain in the ass to change strings.
Camden Reed
No clue, I play guitar, but I tried a fretless bass once and I couldn't understand what the lack of frets took away, while you do get that immediate extra level of expression available to you
Jason Powell
It's like learning to drive stick when you've driven an automatic your whole life.
Jordan Cruz
its less aesthetically pleasing than other alternatives
Noah Torres
Why? Is it hard to setup?
Jaxon Cook
Floyd bridges are just more annoying than string through because the tension changes on the bridge as you change the strings so there's various things you may have to do to keep it level like wedging a wire cutter in while you work on the strings
Aiden Nguyen
if you have to ask why you should really get your shit together and just research how the thing works, you moron. how hard is it to type two words into the youtube search bar?
Sebastian Morris
They use two piece bodies in their korina guitars.
And it's because they are very well made despite the wood autism and they compete directly with gibson which makes a run of the mill guitar with a four piece body (two piece maple top two piece mahogany top) and a shitty finish for the same price.
Xavier Reyes
The mega link is no longer available
Jack Richardson
But it works really well.
A guitar that doesn't play in tune is trash
Logan Ramirez
fuck bookmatching. it looks like shit.
one piece tops > *
i'd rather have thinner veneers instead of maple caps (fuck off tonewood fags) and a bunch of non-bookmatched guitars than bookmatched shit made as wastefully as possible (making the top thicker adds toan bruh -broscience pro)
if you have a small penis, you may feel the need to buy a gibson if you have a small brain, you may go through with it afterwards, you will have a small bank account
you are now aware that you can buy a top end gibson at any guitar store, take it off the wall, try it, buy it, take it home, give it a chance, and then return it for a full refund
even if you don't actually have the money and do it on credit you can try an authentic gibson les paul for no actual cost to you
only third worlders think gibsons ($1000 guitars, $3000-4000 at the most) are unobtainable golden instruments that only rich people can afford
How you can have these as facts? It happened with you? Or your friends? Maybe dad?
Samuel Hall
My friends dad actually
Can confirm from a sauna session and his unhappy looking wife that he carries the dicklet gene, which is why he owns a les paul "custom shop" (gibson doesn't actually build custom guitars) and a marshall half stack.
Seriously anyone with more than a 1x12 and 50w or lower amp (100w or lower for SS) who isn't playing stadiums is probably a dicklet
Okay, listen guys. These aren't fucking expensive.
But I'm not buying this because I hate skinny frets and I hate gloss necks and just anything nitro finished in general unless it's going to hang on a wall for its whole life
>80s >fundie Christians/Moral Majority had tons of power and were in a panic over metal >rockers were partying with strippers in a hot tub in LA >2010s >Tumblr landwhales have tons of power >no you can't do that--only acceptable music is some dreampop girl singer with nu male musicians Fuck, I'll take the Christfags. Rock and roll was better when they were in charge.
Liam Powell
numale dreampop really is for numales and girls. cool people still listen to loud, aggressive music.
i heard death grips being played at a party a while ago
I'm not buying another guitar unless it checks all these boxes
>Neck through, smooth heel >X-Jumbo frets >Locking tuners >Multi-piece or otherwise reinforced neck >Arched top >Slim body with a treble side scoop that can actually accommodate a man's hand (many superstrats don't do this, PRS bodies do) >SD blackouts, or EMGs other than the godawful zack wylde set >Volume/Volume/Tone >Six strings >hardtail or floyd rose works Or >Jazzmaster but with a modern neck (slim C compound radius X-jumbo frets and locking tuners)
Gibson SGs do come pretty close sometimes but I'm not buying a $2000 guitar to have to modify it.
And above all >Thin urethane finish >Entire guitar must be matte, no gloss
I played one of those at a vintage music store sounded like shit
Luis Peterson
hey lads, i want to get into guitar, i plan on buying a used acoustic, probably from a pawn shop or music store because i'm poor. but what should i look for brand wise?
Jayden Howard

Adrian Gray
Not much to expect from plastic, although I assume they’re very durable
Joseph Wood
If you can find me one good guitar that checks those boxes up to the price of that les paul I will buy it.
Probably not the JM, though.
Color has to be blue, because blue guitars sound better. it shouldn't need any customization or repairs. Figured top can't be bookmatched because that's ugly.
Benjamin Taylor
you should bring a guitarist and make sure you get a case and guitar-specific humidity control devices because acoustics are finicky things

Is a 2016 sunburst P-bass for 400 a good deal? Should I ask for less? It doesnt have the tone or volume knobs and the listing says it has light scratches. I play mostly psychedelic rock, heavy metal, stuff in that vein.
Ryan Evans
Yeah thats a pretty good deal so long as its got no major flaws
P-basses are the best basses for classic rock, Roger Waters used them all throughout the 70s as did Geezer Butler
Logan Butler
So they do rub kaka all over those high end instruments, that weirdo wasn't wrong

No. You're just gonna pay more for something you'll barely use. A fretless anything is honestly just for when you already own an instrument you love and just want to expand your collection or skills. Just make sure it's the scale and type of pickups you want. Also if it's a J or P bass but that's minor desu

Matthew Baker
Peavey makes a few good ones that you can get cheap on craigslist.
Michael Smith
Part of owning a gibson is having to hang it from the wall when not in use because floor stands are too risky, and traveling with a form fitted case with extra padding added by yourself to further negate the risk of the neck snapping if the case is jostled. And then having it break anyways if you ever leave your house with it. Maybe even if you sneeze. Remember strap looks are very, very essential to gibson ownship. But yeah it'll break anyways.
Guitars that "resonate" have less sustain. The vibrations traveling through the guitar cancel out the vibrations from the string. They don't "feed" it, they kill it.
A lack of resonance is why electric guitars sustain so well in the first place compared to acoustics.

I believe you when you say you are sick, as I can hear your mid/throat voice straining, but I also believe that you can sing better when you are at 100% health.
I think it's good, wish I understood the words but your voice is nice. Waaay better than mine thats for sure.
rec me a good anime girl guitar. i like active pickups and mostly play metal and jazz fusion. i think technique matters more than anything and soul is a meme so it has to have a smooth speed demon neck and big ass frets. having frets below the fifth doesn't matter, that's djent territory so you can kind of just wing it.

>If you have to pay more to get what you want you're just bad at it
or maybe you can afford to have a preference instead of suffering as long as you can make a sound on it
$70 strats with necks literally made out of recycled baseball bats can be made to work too, you know, especially if you can do basic luthier work like fret leveling and keep a truss rod wrench and a tuner handy for use between songs. hell, chinesium fridge magnet pickups don't even sound bad. you just have to set the amp EQ right. if you like that, fine, but you're not bad at it if you would rather play something that costs money.
you're also not bad at guitar if nothing tickles your pickle except a certain line of cheap guitars. but, you know, most people who are good at guitar have no problem with the $1000+ ones and usually buy custom shop.

Electric guitars are super easy to market to players because everyone's looking for an edge that will somehow make them better players or inspire them to practice more, plus they come in an almost infinite variety of variations that satisfy our monkey brain and make it go "oooooh shiny".
New outerspace supernova burst with curly roasted maple neck and platinum frets! Hand crafted by artisans pushing buttons on a machine! Graphite reinforced neck so you don't have to worry about truss rod adjustment when you tour the world! Locking tuners so it's more convenient when you change strings every six months! 20" radius so you can be MONSTER shredder you were always destined to be!
I found a 2004 mij mustang with racing stripes and matching headstock on reverb. Id get it if I hadnt already bought a guitar and amp this year

I think you may be overdoing the effects, yeah. As for soloing, do you know your scales and modes and what context they should work in? Your soloing sounds off key so you may need to do some more looking into theory. Other than that, it's just a time game. You keep playing and it will just come naturally at some point. Eventually you won't need to think about the scales and worry which note to hit next. Happy playing user. Keep it up. I can't help with the recording issue though.

Thanks for the feedback. I think it's a combination of a few things. There is latency between when I pluck the string and when the note sounds through the PC, this throws my timing off so I'm never fully playing on time. I think I am going to turn down my levels when I record the guitar next time. I then try and scoot the .wav file around to where it "fits" on beat but it inevitably doesn't... Gah, I'll just have to mess with it more. Thanks.
Lincoln Morales
Too many bends. Listen to jazz first dumbass. This was so dumb and shitty i bet it was the favela freak
The elite has a better neck heel for better access on the last frets and modern block saddles which are much better for palm muting, it is objectively the best strat you can buy outside the custom shop
Ibanez are shit guitars that will never be able to fulfill a strats role. Closest one is the andy timmons sig. My strat is perfectly comfortable. How about you get good enough to use the notes past the 12th fret then use a american pro and tell me if its uncomfortable then k?
Stiff it doesn't bend, and they last months if you don't lose it first.

Nobody ITT plays metal, they just lust over metal guitars to be contrarians around all the wannabe-boomers trying to emulate their dads
Elite is for literal babies. Real men don't need a fucking meme access heel and humbucker single coils. A true Strat with proper single coils aka American Pro is the best one and its $500 cheaper with the exact same case. Anyone who buys the Elite fell for the meme
Anthony Phillips
you think they're using it wrong because it's done really poorly on most guitars
Andrew Price
So what youre saying is you have bad form and technique Also speak for yourself vocaroo.com/i/s02W5z5IBlur

if real men want a meme access heel they don't buy a fucking fender, for one. you buy fender for brand image.
and if you want noiseless single coils EMG makes ones that are actual single coils, not lying humbuckers
What I have is stubby fingers so playing the lower slung thumb-over neck style wouldn't work anyways.
David Collins
No. Most here have no idea what an actual book matched top is and just assume it has to be muh flames to be 'bookmatched'. They've never owned a guitar with a proper carved top and just have shitty veneers which are always a 1 dimensional illusion of a proper carved top.
If you pay for some shoddy natural finish instead of a matte solid color, you're a retard. If you care about what wood it's made of, you're a retard. If you care about how many pieces of wood it's made of, you're a retard.
A bookmatch is two like pieces of figured wood picked to create a symmetrical appearance.
You're supposed to use the same piece of veneer flipped over but gibshit is either too cheap for that or the pieces are too thick for the other side to have a better matching grain.
Look at this poorfag seethe
Henry Stewart
Musicians are people and I hate musicians I hate people everybody is fucking annoying Disgusting people get out of my fuckin back

>Bookmatching is the practice of matching two (or more) wood or stone surfaces, so that two adjoining surfaces mirror each other, giving the impression of an opened book. >As applied to wood, bookmatching is usually done with veneer >rs. Blake Sanchez
I just copied them from the last thread. I didn't think anybody clicked on them anyway. People complain when they aren't there, though.
usually when people say soul they mean a guy playing slow blues with a lot of bends and vibrato. to me that is the peak of a soulless animal trying to imitate soul. it's so over the top and forced
so any time a guitarist tries to say anything about soul like they know what they're talking about i disregard everything they have said and everything they say after. only pianists are really qualified to say anything about soulful playing.
Hunter Jackson
I am jcm900fag retard Yeah open the book so if it was a piece of wood you would cut it in half on a band saw and when you laid it out the wood is lain like how a book is when open. Thus both sides naturally match. That is a true bookmatch. So if the figured cap is 3/4ths of an inch then the original slab was at least 1.5 inches originally. Make sense? Any other process is just matching up wood.
