Thank you, finally. Late 2000's early 2010's pop music was especially bad, I'm getting older and liking new music more and more. Them Ke$ha, Jason Derullo, Late Black Eyed Peas, Pitt Bull were torture in high school.

Lmfao was bad but pop musif at the time was great. Especially all the EDM and big room-influenced stuff that came out. 2014-2017 was the worst time for Pop. Everything was drab and boring. A lot of Lorde copycats. We're finally getting out of that.

I hated scene music when I was younger and I'm still not crazy about it but in retrospect some of it wasn't bad. The problem with scene bands it that they thought they were edgy and tough while having no idea what extreme music already existed that would blow them out of the water. These band should have gone the pop punk/harmonic melody route, dropped the break downs and weak screaming and they might have lasted.

This should be the dream for any man.

We're going to have to agree to disagree. I don't really listen to a lot of pop music in general and I think that EDM ruined electronic music for quite a while. It's just that back then I couldn't stand listening to the radio in my car, these days I'm not immediately turning it off, I can listen for a little now.

I’m a bit older than you (born 1988) but have to agree that whatever you call that era of music starting 2007 onwards was the worst period of music of the past 50 years, maybe ever. Yes, worse than disco, cloud rap, hair metal, name it. And it sucks because the years leading up to it (hell, even the whole decade previous, 1996-2006) were awesome, maybe even debatably the best ever. Even the popular music wasn’t THAT bad on the whole. You could turn on the radio and get around okay. Then the internet pushed things forward and I started downloading music, discovering artists like DJ Shadow, RJD2, The White Stripes.. I even started really enjoying rap, my sworn enemy music genre as a kid and torrenting mixtapes the day the came out.

But then 2008 happened.

I don’t know who to blame. I joined the military that year and I didn’t have access to my computer anymore or time to follow music as much, but every time I got around a radio or another Marine with pleb ass music taste would play something, it’d be Daughtry, Shinedown, Nickelback, Trapt, Hollywood Undead, Slipknot... ugh. Then I’d go to the club and hear Taio Cruz and the bands you mentioned up there. Fucking kill me dude. It was a fucking wasteland. Every time I look back on it, I remember a bunch of dudes in Affliction shirts, shitty music, and Jersey Shore.
