I think one of the goofiest examples is Ed Hunter, which was a Iron Maiden greatest hits album that came with a PC game where you play as the band's Mascot, Eddie.

I was looking at a blogpost for a game called Alice: Interactive Museum that features music from Kazuhiko Kato (famous in Japan), and art by Kuniyoshi Kaneko (Momus wrote a song about him, he also painted the album art for many of Kato's records). It has a bunch of links at the bottom to other music related games by guys such as Peter Gabriel and Prince.
I like these sorts of adventure games, so I guess I'll be busy for a while.

there was an old computer game i had as a kid where you were in a spaceship and had to play guitar vs demons. it was hard and i never understood what was going on.

i don't think it was licensed. the demons you had to battle looked kind of like megabyte from reboot. you started in a spaceship and there were a bunch of rooms.

Blank Banshee released his albums on USB a while back, which I always thought looked cool. a little impractical considering it contains music that is available for free online but a cool medium none the less.
