What’s the Cowboy Bebop of music?
What’s the Cowboy Bebop of music?
the Cowboy Bebob OST
Something overrated by everyone and their grandmother? Neutral Milk Hotel comes to mind.
the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack
Death grips
Overrated but still good
The only good hip hop just like cowboy bebop is the only good anime
Nobody likes you.
Heavily stylized, ahead of its time, everyone copied it, doesn't quite hold up today but still great nonetheless?
Bathory maybe?
Uhh Bebop Jazz?
>ahead of its time, everyone copied it, doesn't quite hold up today
you're thinking of neon genesis evangelion, sir
This Duh
or
Something that is aesthetically amazing but not very deep
So, something that manages to be really great despite largely being style over substance

First answer what does Cowboy Bebop represent exactly in anime. Then we can try to find a parallel in music
Fucking tripfag
second that
bebop too... maybe to a lesser degree but still
welp for starters the anime was directly influenced by lupin III, and both series had strong western aesthetics. bebop had a spectacular fictional world but tended to focus on character development and backstory, although many episodes simply focus on a goofy situation. the crew always comes close to pulling off a high-reward bounty and it doesnt usually work out for them, making the crew very desperate as funds remain low. very high emphasis on nihilism and tragic heroes. beautiful animation oozing with style. I've watched a lot of anime (not a shit ton) and it remains in my top picks.
Cowboy Bebop is top 10 best anime of all time.
With that out of the way, I have many possible Cowboy Bebop’s.
Charles Mingus - Let My Children Hear Music
Tom Waits - Heartattack and Vine
Björk - Vulnicura
Nina Simone - Pastel Blues
John Coltrane - Giant Steps
Janelle Monae - The ArchAndroid
Since I’m a huge fan of CB, I’m going to explain the choices that aren’t that obvious (like jazz and Tom Waits)
Vulnicura could be perfectly the past of a Cowboy Bebop character, since it’s a similar thing. A recurrent theme in CB, escaping from our past is the main focus in Vulnicura. In fact, I’d consider this anime 3 Björk albums: Debut (pure fun, mainly Ed), Homogenic is a mix of fun and drama (the terrific tales of Hunter and Unravel could perfectly be part of Jet’s tragic past related with love) and then there’s Vulnicura (a tragedy, and a representation of Faye’s character).
On the other hand, The ArchAndroid is what I’d consider a damn ride. Episodes such as “Mushroom Samba” just remind me so much of the run from “Dance or Die” to “Locked Inside”. “The Cold War”-“Tightrope” combo is something I picture as the soundtrack to Spike’s stylish moves. And another example of something in The ArchAndroid that reminds me of CB is “Wondaland”, that reminds of Ed’s playful personality.
Would you have sexual intercourse with any of the Cowboy Bebop characters?
No. I enjoy anime but I’m not mentally ill.
not him but is that even a question
of course
fag
>t. assmad weeb
Probably same-fagging
>something that manages to be really great despite largely being style over substance
90s Beck maybe
thinking particularly of mellow gold, odelay and midnite vultures
to make this Yea Forums, I honestly don't know what music this points to.
>strongly influenced by the biggest first anime
could be transcribed to a band influenced by 60s invasion rock
>nihilism and tragic heroes
maybe something with darker themes
>interesting world and strong style
?
>soundtrack is a diverse mix of jazz and blues
yeah my imagination isn't strong enough for this. I wanna say us maple or sonic youth but it doesn't really click in my head
Lana Del Rey
except lana sucks and no one likes her anymore
ok
how about just the Born To Die album then?
Maybe the deluxe version = Cowboy Bebop series + movie

why are you still stuck on a dead waifu from 2014 lol embarrassing
the intro of Cowboy Bebop says: "Thework, whichbecomesa newgenreitself, will be calledCowboy Bebop.” You guys got it wrong, the "Cowboy Bebop of music" is not just bebop and other jazz subgenres, it's anything that mixes genres to the point that it becomes something new and a bit hard to classify. An example would be the Gorillaz self titled album. Hip hop in a childish cartoon world, dub mixed with trip hop, pop using an old telephone, a sad Cuban son singer with a dark tone and a drum machine , dub with Morricone Western influence (you could even call it Cowboy Dub) and a lot more I didn't mention.
Meme grips isn't hip hop just cause it has a black guy you ultraretard
>popular among weebs and people who don't like anime
>popularized a genre
>contrarian say it's overrated just because it's popular
either Loveless or ITCOTCK
This called also apply to this
Calling Cowboy Bebop overrated is like calling The Beatles overrated. It's retarded.
But the beatles are overrated too.
Retard.
you're the retard, sorry
Cowboy BeatBop
Both the beatles and cowboy bebop are highly overrated within their communities.
Eva and The Rolling Stones are more overrated than Bebop and Beatles.
don't bother with these imbeciles. I don't even like Beatles that much but it doesn't take a genius to understand why it's impossible for them to be overrated. They completely changed music as we know it
