Iggy or Bowie mix?
Bowie for me personally, the Iggy mix is all fucking fucked up, no dynamics at all and it hurts my fucking ears, it sounds like shit.

agreed, but the bowie mix is also kind of retarded, instead of having no dynamics it has really awkward dynamics and sounds paper-thin. I don't like either desu but I like the song. a tragedy

I prefer Iggy's mix because I like it loud. But yeah, no mix does this album "true" justice. Still one of the best albums ever, right next to Fun House.

I like the Iggy mix for the same reason I prefer Funhouse to the Stooges' s/t. The Bowie mix sounds so subdued, with all the power taken out. With iggy, it sounds much more lively and human, honestly. I like that it sounds like they left everything in the mix they could.
Listen to Rough Power, the Raw Power demos before Bowie did his mix. It honestly sounds just like the Iggy mix from '97, demonstrating Iggy's mix was closer to the original vision.
I suppose the Iggy vs Bowie mix debate is really symbolic of philosophies on music recording. Do you prefer the raw sound of the Iggy mix? Then you probably prefer genres like hardcore punk, black metal, garage rock, etc. Do you prefer the Bowie mix? Then you probably prefer a more classic, conventional rock record sound.

Bowie's mix isn't downright awful... in fact, it's probably the more "correct" version. Iggy's has more intensity and is a punishing brick wall of noise. Why would you listen to a album titled Raw Power without the raw power?!

The double LP remastered reissue from 2014 is the best version of this album. Both Bowie and Iggy's mixes sound as good as I can imagine them sounding.

Bowie mix sounds awful. Way too thin. No low-end, quiet drums. Just doesn't fit the ferocity of the music. Iggy mix sounds awful but is way more fitting. Dirty, muddy, loud ass mix. It's definitely bad but it kind of adds to the charm.
