The Rolling Stones really didn't do anything the Beatles were already doing. Sure they have great songs but nothing innovative. Genres such as post punk or gothy dark atmospheric music can all be traced back to the Doors.

The Doors are unlistenable garbage. If I want good blues rock I'll listen to Zeppelin and Rory Gallagher. If I want artsy rock and good instrumentalists I'll listen to 70s prog. But not this shitty band with terrible faux-poetry and that God-awful organ sound.
