not particularly. i just threw this together.

why do you think im asking Yea Forums

there's not any more melancholic album than pic related
and is not even trying to being sad but, god it works so well

Attached: 365982-main.jpg (800x800, 31K)

cant believe i forgot sigur ros

just razzing ya. i'll bump with all of my favorites

Attached: Ghost Tropic.jpg (1200x1200, 46K)

Add Low - I Could Live In Hope
The Morrissey album of your choice (Probably Vauxhall And I)
Red House Painters - Down Colorful Hill

actually just added down colorful hill, but ill add the other two, thanks

thanks king

>those albums
oh boy

Attached: the-widest-smiling-faces-me-and-my-ribcage.jpg (1200x1200, 381K)

this better be the saddest album ive ever heard if youre gonna talk down on the others

Put some James Taylor on there. Whatever album Fire and Rain is on.

Really? You're not gonna include this?

Attached: TDaGaRIM.jpg (630x630, 92K)

its more of the approach to sadness. im looking for albums that have a sad for sad sake atmosphere. the reason im not including more angsty stuff like brand new and mcr is because its more of an angry for sad sake style

theres a lot of tongue in cheek songs on sweet baby james too. a song doesn't make a sad album. i want something cathartic from beginning to end

Attached: A9ECA39A-2FE4-46FB-B5F0-782E24FB6465.jpg (600x594, 106K)

got any other recs? already added this

why isn't Kid A on this list?

i think amsp blows all the other radiohead albums out of the water in terms of sadness, but i guess i could see the argument for kid a

gotta have some crywank on there surely

any album(s) in particular, user?

switch The Wall for The Final Cut and Let It Come Down for Ladies and Gentlemen.

you could add:
Leonard Cohen - Songs of Love and Hate
The Smiths - Meat Is Murder or s/t
Untitled ( ) is much sadder
Godspeed - F#A#
A Silver Mt Zion - Horses in the Sky
Alice in Chains - Unplugged
Joy Division - Closer

+more daniel johnston
all of these
then:
giles corey > deathconsciousness
flatsound
dandelion hands
teen suicide
this empty northern hemisphere
king krule
hood
dave bixby
bark psychosis

TINYAEIS is the one that gained the most attention (and in my opinion the most representative of their style) but Narcissist on the verge of a Nervous Breakdown is pretty good as well.

Attached: crywank.jpg (960x960, 61K)

AMSP is grief whereas Kid A is so hopeless it almost becomes "optimistic"

honestly added it before you even replied haha. couldnt help myself when i started considering the apocalyptic vibe of the album

itt: fake depression core

idk the wall is pretty sad and a grim look at mental illness, isolation and addiction even if it has a 'happy' ending. i could just have more than one floyd record. thanks for the recs, though. cant believe i forgot gy!be

certainly could be, though i dont see why actual depressed people couldnt listen to the records in this thread either. they're all cathartic.

what would you suggest?

>expecting to be taken seriously with that name

Attached: 1555458581477.png (912x905, 1021K)

no it absolutely deserves to go on there, they just have different kinds of sadness

>another pathetic tripfag desperately fishing for (You)s

>TryHard Philosophical Hipster of MynKind
what class of fucking name is that? Even for tripfags that's depressing
r/radiohead tier

Add pretty much everything from this

Attached: 0390cadba491c4c28d9918cd25de2620a552622f961004472d49079d0d9ae134.jpg (2400x4992, 1.83M)

or

and hear me out here

im just looking for sad albums, which is pretty believable when ive been going through all the responses in this thread and adding certain albums

actually dont agree with a lot of these, but some are definitely interesting tyvm

wtf? most of the albums from that chart are upbeating as hell
>Stankonia
>The Chronic
>Hissing Fauna
>Emergency and I
>Oddelay
>Rust in Peace
>RATM s/t

Those are just bad albums that you should kill yourself to if you listen to them

>le funny contrarianism xd

Attached: 1560733334319.png (632x756, 44K)

this is my chart from like half a year ago. Almost every album on here qualifys. Enjoy

Attached: favorite_albums (2019_06_24 16_41_56 UTC).jpg (1487x1400, 313K)

I mean, it's just what the creator of the chart means by putting them on there, not my opinion

don't suppose you have a version with names?few on here i dont recognize. thanks, though

prove it

this is bullshit

Attached: 3A89E2F6-A543-455D-A7C8-9110840C1E01.png (2234x913, 321K)

I don't dislike any of the albums mentioned,
(Except maybe the RATM s/t)

Attached: topsters2.jpg (2647x1400, 491K)

This is just my chart wtf

>Long Season
>V:D:C
>The Moon and Antarctica
I get that those have a slightly wistful, dreamy vibe to them, but nowhere near sadcore. Drukqs, STFTB and Sunbather are more angry than anything else.+

but good taste, also checked

appreciate the recs, but could you give me specific albums from these artists?

serious question, do you guys think that pic related is happy or sad? I'd say its one of very few things that manages to be both at the same time ("Let Down" being another)

Attached: 81MgZQboVmL._SL1448_.jpg (1448x1448, 222K)

Katatonia - Discouraged Ones
Joy Division - Closer
Low - I Could Live In Hope
Dead Can Dance - Spleen and Ideal
Angelo Badalamenti's work for David Lynch films

that's why I said almost everything bucko. Also tmaa is fucking sad, listen to the lyrics man

It's on the same wavelength as Fishmans - Long Season
It's happy or sad depending on how you're feeling

i think you misunderstood what i was looking for, but i appreciate the thought

tysm

>Oh Angelo! My heart!

A few that come to mind

Joy Division - Closer
Leonard Cohen - Songs of Love and Hate
Cindy Lee - Act of Tenderness
Fishmans - Kuchu Camp
The Cure - Faith

I think "Your Funeral...My Trial" works, too. You've got Skeleton Key, don't know if you've got a limit per artist.

I'll be checking out a lot of stuff on here when I can.

>Fishmans - Kuchu Camp
Maybe I'm remembering wrong but to me this is their happiest (and best) album wtf
Uchu Nippon Setagaya seemed sadder to me

Attached: 81kWYp3d2BL._SL1200_.jpg (1200x1200, 353K)

Its always given me a melancholy, yet hopeful vibe just on the music only.

Had my lady translate the lyrics for me. It's pretty sad stuff. Mostly about being alone or missing a chance a girl he loved, from what I remember.

If just based off the music, maybe Uchu Nippon Setagaya works better. Don't know nippon to translate the lyrics myself.

>giles corey > deathconsciousness
Cringe, I love both tho

Attached: El jardin de los presentes.jpg (220x220, 19K)

>Katatonia - Discouraged Ones
Came here to post this, really bleak and dark album

Attached: 391.jpg (500x500, 43K)

Attached: a0996355960_10.jpg (1200x1200, 431K)

>their happiest (and best) album

Attached: plebs.png (832x968, 420K)

Hi, How Are You by Daniel Johnston

Not him, but other than 98.12.28, what else could it be?

Xiu Xiu's A Promise is the saddest record ever made you can't change my mind.

i dont have a limit and actually already added it haha, but ill def check out the others, thanks

og Long Season and Uchū Nippon are both way better. Night cruising is a masterpiece tho

>Cindy Lee - Act of Tenderness
Based, very good and often overlooked noise pop record, might bump it to an 8

Long Season has a shitty climax compared to the first 4/5ths and Uchū Nippon is peak contrarian
98.12.28 is the culmination of everything that Fishmans does right and is objectively one of their best

>Uchū Nippon is peak contrarian
You're retarded, In no way is that even a remotely "contrarian" pick. Kuchu is the contrarian pick here
>98.12.28 is the culmination of everything that Fishmans does right and is objectively one of their best
I agree, but I thought you explicitly stated other than 98.12.28

David Kauffman; Eric Caboor - Songs From Suicide Bridge
Elizabeth Anka Vajagic - Stand With The Stillness Of This Day
Anenzephalia - Projected Void
Ramleh - Hole In The Heart
Various Artists - Slutstationen

William Plebinski - Melancholia
光の緒 - [untitled]
Agathothodion - Traum Von Gott
The Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra And Tra-La-La Band With Choir - "This Is Our Punk-Rock," Thee Rusted Satellites Gather+Sing,

Do you have anything else similar to this album?

Can't think of anything extremely similar but you might enjoy pic related. Also check out: Black Tambourine - Complete recordings

Attached: dogs.jpg (600x600, 57K)

wasn't directed at you, bud

tysm anons, great recs

Does genre matter? Cause pic related

If you're telling me Keaton Henson - Dear or Mono x World's End GirlFriend - Mass Murder Restrain isn't the shit that you listened to when a girl pulled your heart of your chest and held you down when the boy she told you not to worry about shit in the hole then you've never truly been sad.

these are great additions, thank you

How's the progress looking, friend?

unironically at 69 albums currently

any xashtur album. start with song walker of dissonant worlds

xashtur approaches their music with a a really dark philosophy, but they seem more angry or indifferent about it than sad

Please post that whole comic either or an Billie Eilish or an Idles thread, please we fucking need yo

youtube.com/watch?v=MoKWnUO5Zrg

Many of the songs go well with the Silent Hill OST

bump

crowhurst.bandcamp.com/album/black-funeral-atmospheres

ty

i do love them both but giles corey is way sadder for me, might help that i can understand the lyrics because im a brainlet

Here are some of mine
>Joy Division - Closer
>Carissa's Wierd - Songs About Leaving
>Mineral - Endserenading
>Red House Painters - Down Colorful Hill
>Teen Suicide - dc snuff film / waste yrself
>Flatsound - Sleep
>Jackson C. Frank - s/t
>The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
>David Thomas Broughton - Ambiguity

I get really fucking angry when my definition of sadness doesn't fit with other people's. How am I supposed to feel sad while listening to fucking Songs About Fucking? What am I missing here? Do I unironically have autism or what? For fuck's sake.

happen to have any more albums up your sleeve?

lotta good ones here, cheers

incels would be sad about not having sex obviously

>I get really fucking angry when my definition of sadness doesn't fit with other people's.
Nigga other people have different thoughts and opinions, grow up
