What does Yea Forums think about Frank Sinatra? I always hated this guy because normans like to say he's jazz when he's really just Pop, but I'm wondering if that hate is irrational. Does he have any good shit to listen to?

I've listened only to his pre-1954 stuff. It's mediocre tradicional pop.
That's Life is a great song. youtu.be
>tfw I didnt realize till yesterday he didnt even write "My Way", lyrics or music

Watertown is a great album
>dude fedoras
Frank Sinatra only continued to be popular after the mid-50s because his mafia connections.
I can't stand that smug asshole.
>normans like to say he's jazz when he's really just Pop
You have autism
explain how
Terrific singer with top quality orchestras. Those recordings were all done live in the studio, no editing and shit. Just wonderful stuff, especially the capitol recordings.
he's pretty comfy, I grew up listening to him at every family gathering with my grandparents.
my papa told me the story of his tour in italy that failed miserably. all of the papers heralded sinatra as "americas great baritone" so when he started singing all of the operettas booed him off the stage. he then went to france where they loved him. but italy, no. I can't find this story anywhere but he said the mob paid off the reporters to hush up. he tells the story all the time but I still don't know if I believe it. if your looking for singers that have italian lyrics, jerry vale is your guy.
woah just noticed dem quadruple dubs
great post user, i like your story, tell me more stories

> I always hated this guy because normans like to say he's jazz when he's really just Pop
Jazz is the pop music of the past. Not all jazz is bebop stuff, that is an occurrence that began around the late 40s and 50s. Try listening to more music around the 1930's period, and you'll realize this more easily.
He's incredible. Miles Davis used to listen to him for melodic phrasing. Powerful voice and fantastic arrangements.
Check out his album with Antonio Carlos Jobim.
>I always hated this guy because normans like to say he's jazz when he's really just Pop
So you don't hate him because of his work as an artist or even as a human being, you hate him becouse of what the rest think of him.
You have worrying levels of autism
you should call my papa up, all he does is tell stories like that. me, not so much
I'm not a fan of his personally even though I love vintage music. But I would not say he's bad.
This. Cant stand much else by the guy
he has made jazz, particularly swing and big band, but he's mostly a traditional pop artist
>he's jazz when he's really just Pop
it doesnt matter. he just is a killer singer. his voice, phrasing, delivery...all extraordinary. Not to mention the vibe and swagger. Check out his live stuff.

patrician taste
Been liking this song lately; you've probably heard before it in movies or commercials but that shouldn't take away from how good the song is.
Dean Martin was a better singer and entertainer IMO.
