I know this album isn't unknown but imho it should be talked about way more. It's one of the best rock albums of the decade, if not the best.
>ITT: albums you can't believe aren't more well known
>irrelevant "shit" albums
If you wanted to make a thread talking about how much you liked that Mercury Rev album and how you wish it was more appreciated, you should've just done that. Instead, you open the discussion up to albums that aren't well known, then get pissed that people actually follow the thread premise instead of acknowledging your newfound music that you like.
Try again in about a week OP. Find something better to do with your time by then than shitting on random people's music, it's sad
Cosmic Intercepcion by Von Lmo
mercury rev is a pretty fucking successful band, what are you on about?
I can't believe this isn't a staple of 80s post punk
>rhp
>not well known
never got the appeal, might need a re listen
I didn't love it at first but it grows on you a lot. i like it because it's so many things. it's dark but warm, it's angular but catchy, it's psychedelic but sobering, it also flows incredibly well from start to finish. definitely give it another try.
This album is fuckin incredible. Idk why it seems to slide under the radar in their discog. When the breakdown hits on Data it sounds like a bomb exploding, the production is so good. Great for blasting through cities at night.
>Idk why it seems to slide under the radar in their discog
most likely it´s because the album itself isn´t bad at all, just that the others overshadow it. Repetition, New Plastic Ideas, Leaves Turn Inside You and Fake Train are huge titans to beat so Challenge ends up looking like a subpar work in comparison.
This overlooked beauty
Jokes aside tho , definitely check out Boces, the first track on that album is probably at least top 50 songs for me
holy shit all of their albums 2bh
It is the best.
Just a great early prog/hard rock record. These guys worked with Bowie too, really surprised how overlooked this album is.
I agree, I’m surprised Cardiacs aren’t lumped alongside bands like XTC and Devo, Tim’s songwriting is fantastic and influential
are-my-headphones-broken-or-is-it-supposed-to-sound-like-this-core
For the longest time I thought this was a Bon Iver album judging by the thumbnail. Only now do I realize my sad mistake
kek, can totally see where your coming from
