Whats went wrong?

Bono became obsessed with getting a peace nobel prize and that ruinned his songwriting.
As far back as Rattle and Hum they had a tendency for cringe music.

Bono's wig.

Zoomers thinking they're bad without actually listening

Is the edge bald? I've never seen him without a stupid hat.

What a stupid question

it's a prescription hat like bono's glaucoma sunglasses

They formed a band

Pop

From a capitalist perspective, nothing

who does bono think he's fooling
he doesn't have glaucoma

A mole, digging in a hole
Digging up my soul, now
Going down, excavation
I and I in the sky
You make me feel like I can fly
So high, elevation.

Woo hoo.

they got old plus they never were too good to begin with

>An extremely controversial band because of factors that go beyond their music, U2 are arguably the most important, most popular and, indeed, "biggest" band of the last 25 years. The true heirs of the big 70's groups (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc), U2 are probably one of the few bands that can be considered to be at the same level of those giants in terms of popularity, sales, worldwide massive reach and quality. At least two of their albums are considered as "classic" and "masterpieces" in almost every music critic (and a lot of fans') list. Their style is always recognizable and enjoyable. Genres and trends come and go, but their music has proved to be of the present and relevant. History will probably put Bono on the same pedestal as John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and all those men and women that have changed the way music is today and will be tomorrow.

All bands have a lifespan of being good, it’s fine. Go on tour etc but why keep taking the corny band promo photos? Looks like a bunch of grandmas going to a funeral in the desert.

Not breaking up after achtung baby

Weird how they went all ironic immediately after Negativland put out theIr single

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yea
yeah yeah yeah yeeahh

but then we wouldn't have Zooropa or OST1. After Pop would have been good because then it'd have this interesting story about the label pushing the band to release an unfinished record for the sake of tour dates despite their endless tinkering and requests for delays, until finally they couldn't take the pressure and broke up over a rough, unfinished album thag could have been fantastic had it not been for those shitty execs.

but now they're just so safe, bland, and corporate it hurts.

Except ever since the mid 00s, they haven't made a single good album compared to even the 80s or the 90s

This is a good take. You are my friend user
