What type of album is this?

What type of album is this?
It's obviously not Midwest Emo.
It's not quite Pop-Punk influenced to be Emo-Pop, Deja Entendu certainly is closer to that.
It's obviously not the early type of Emo record, fairly too clean for that.
Is this emo? The more I think about it, the more I realize this has almost nothing to do with it.

what is emo?

Emotional Hardcore, the early Emo and the first iteration of it has roots in Hardcore Punk Rites of Spring.
You had Midwest Emo, whom combined the punk rock background with cleaner vocals, Indie Rock influences.
Emo-Pop takes Pop-punk influences.
Brand New's Devil And God doesn't really fit much of into any of this, sounds like a fairly straight-forward Indie Rock/Alt Rock album.

It’s melodic alt rock influenced by post-hardcore and emo.

>mainly
alt-rock
>secondary
emo, post-hardcore, indie rock and noise pop

>It's obviously not Midwest Emo
Uh, okay

I mean, the truth is we need more catagories. "midwest emo", "screamo" and "emo pop" are not sufficient to cover all of the bands that play emo ("emocore" is a dead style that basically only existed for like 5 years).

But saying Brand New is "obviously" not midwest emo is ludicrous. Which of the two remaining emo styles are they, then?

>melodic alt rock
"alt rock" is melodic by definition.

Point please?

Only "midwest" emo song on Devil And God is Jesus Christ, honestly.
The closest they've gotten to Midwest Emo is on Leaked Demos.

....are you dense?

>I mean, the truth is we need more catagories
I agree, Brand New specifically show why this is so difficult.
Deja Entendu is ever harder to categorize, what Emo album is this? It's far too aggressive to be tagged Emo-Pop, but it has obvious Pop-Punk influences in it still, mixed in with the Indie Rock influences, it sometimes has the Math Rocky guitar solos (especially in its second half).

What was the point of telling me that

Bum

2000s standard indie/alternative rock with emo influences.

Rapist rock

Just say alt rock

ITS EMO

>if they don't put me away, we it will be a miracle
What did they mean by this?

>standard
name another record that sounds like TDAGARIM

Why do you care? Brand New's music isn't good and it never has been.

>why do you care
it's interesting
>brand new's music isn't good
it is
