I used to be one of those hipster fags who enjoyed this and Jesus and Mary Chain, which is very similar.

I disliked it on the first listen (I even felt like my headphones are broken), then I used to enjoy it among repeated listen, giving the typical hipster mindset that this is music for a selected few who "understands it" and the rest "doesn't get it".

But no, it's actually us hipster fags who don't get good music. We are brainwashed into thinking anything nonmusical and arrhythmic is art and deep, while it's not. Real good music has a melody, a harmony, a rhythm and speaks to your soul, encourages you, inspires you.

We like Loveless, because we are used to it's sensory overloading wall of noise and musical details buried under them... so much, that we start to enjoy noise in general, which is the aural equivalent of enjoy eating shit.

If you go to any jazz concert, >90% of the audience only pretend to like it and that's for a good reason.
