Marilyn Manson is a talentless hack that got/stayed popular because of his edgy 2deep4u highschool angst shit.

I find both to be edgelord but find Trent's musings to be a bit more genuine and Manson's a bit more for shock value, point Trent

I find both kind of lame musically but find Manson's often more hard rocking albeit in a brain dead power chord kind of way, point Manson, though I find NIN music to be more interesting than that even still....so point Trent

I guess it's a tie for me, pal, but I'd much rather go see NIN than Marilyn Manson live, so actually Trent wins for me

They're both pretty shit and only appealed to edgy teenagers. That being said, Trent has actual talent wasted on edgy industrial/nu metal bullshit while Manson is just edgy for edginess' sake.

They're both really smart people. Trent Reznor strikes me as the kind of person who doesn't care that he's smart, he cares about getting stuff done, so to that extent he pumps out amazing material constantly, has an amazing work ethic, put together a fantastic life with a hot wife and an impressive little empire, and is healthy and has an amazing physique.

Marilyn Manson is the type of person who figured since he was the smartest guy in the room, he was better than everyone else, so he didn't really need to put in the work and everyone would still think his material was great. To that end, he put out some decent industrial rock/shock rock stuff, got as fucked up on drugs as he wanted, dated any hot girl that threw themselves at him, and he used them. Then his records started getting really stale and bad, so he had to put in a little more effort to make his records okay again. Now he wakes up and he's a washed up has been who's been fried on drugs, is ugly and fat, and his marriages have all fallen apart.
