The strongest and most complete collection of songs they've delivered so far. No fat, no filler.
lol it's cyberpunk wow nobody else is doing this
Is it true that UK Decay was the first band that was called "gothic" by the press?
in the thumbnail it looks like a guy wearing a Boomer mask
Wow looks like the virgin prunes stole one of Neva's gimmicks.
it's honestly a decent album.
>Cyberpunk
It's just good old-fashioned darkwave, my dude. It sounds like Depeche Mode or Clan Of Xymox or something.
oh hey look it's Marc Almond with his dumb chauffeur
Thanks for the laugh user!
Hey dem virgin prunes are pretty good
9/10
It's good, but I like their previous album more.
I'd heard it was Joy Division. A lot of post-punk/positive punk bands were described as architectural in the press, and someone made the joke calling JD "gothic" in contrast to "bauhaus".
funny, I figured it was just to compare them with the New Romantics
>tfw /dark/ or any goth related thread dies with under 30 replies
It's just not fair.
/mug/ when
with as many people on Yea Forums claim to be into /dark/ genres it's strange that these things always die, it's almost as if people lie on this swedish macaroni forum.
>Loveless is Yea Forumscore
>Yea Forums doesn't know any other My Bloody Valentine albums
>Yea Forums doesn't know that shoegaze is a direct offshoot of 80s post-punk and goth rock
Its sad how ignorant most people on this board are about music.
being into it =/= knowing enough about it to sustain discussions for a whole day
Most importantly, have you seen how generals on Yea Forums actually sustain themselves?
Through massive autism and off-topic shitposting
>direct offshoot
Not really no. As far as I know it's a bunch of bands ripping off the Jesus and Mary Chain, who -technically- started out as post-punk but are defined by the fact that they mostly play Beatles-like bubblegum pop with shitloads of reverb and distortion.
And I guess there's also maybe influence from Cocteau Twins, but either way that's a pretty tenuous connection. And most importantly shoegaze is for timid faggots who can't into edgy aesthetics, so shitgaze is not /dark/
Shoegaze is the twee mutation of ethereal-wave and dreampop
bump
Which themselves are only tangentially related to post-punk and goth rock.
OH GOD I GET DOWN ON MY KNEEEEES
youtube.com
I may be wrong but I think it was actually The Doors
>>tfw /dark/ or any goth related thread dies with under 30 replies
To be fair that's pretty goth

Would you a Lydia Lunch?
I like some of it but it's a bit bland
My Bloody Valentine literally started off as a post-punk/goth rock band. They sounded like The Birthday Party meets The Cramps.

Also, Slowdive are famously named after a Siouxsie & The Banshees song.

Alright Yea Forums, I think it's time we discussed the most underrated gothic rock band of all time, that being RED LORRY YELLOW LORRY.

Based. I always preffered RLYL's rawer, grungier, sound to more polished bands like The Sisters of Mercy
I too find a lot of the big-name goth rock acts a tad underwhelming. The Cure has never grabbed me the way RLYL does. To me, RLYL's sound has a lot more weight and punch to it. Chris Reed's baritone voice is a lot heavier, and I also like how the mechanical drum machine influences the music's atmosphere. The Cure has always sounded very flat and anemic to me in comparison.
whats that one postpunk album with a white background with two guys and black in white, one falling into the other? I remember it being posted in one of these generals but i forgot its name
Glenn Branca - Ascension
jorge elbrecht - here lies
he produces tamaryn, drab majesty, new sky ferreira, ariel pink etc why not just get it from the source
Aggrotech is great I could chat about it all day, but im kinda new to it.
this is random but I had an account on a popular site and I'd post all my opinions and stuff, the name was drab majesty (it was a coincidence) they made a post about me stating they aren't me. I deleted it cause I felt bad.
oh, you saw the post Deb made? RIP
Reminder; Grendel predicted the existence of the Juul and or crack-posting.
do you think Michael Gira ever tapped that?
there's a collab between him and her. of course he did.
they go pretty hard on also sprach zarathustra
tenouttaten perfect
He did, and Nick Cave did, and JG Thirwell did, and Rowland S Howard did, and everyone in the no wave scene did
Best song from it!
It's well made but it's so explicitly derivative I can't see myself listening to it on a regular basis
Sleep cannot hide thoughts splitting through my mind
Shadows aren't clean, false mirrors too many people awake
If you stand up like a nail then you will be knocked down
I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else
>crazy sked moaners
good shit.
I remember discovering one of their songs a while ago but forgetting their name
also BUMP
What is your favorite Chameleons song?
youtube.com
Does this count?
The people who used to attend to those concerts are now all living with deafness
Why do they have to be so loud? I want to hear the dynamics
what one?
Out Of Sequence is song of the year.
based
noise of the void is the best track
There's like 10 versions of how the name came about. I think Peter Murphy said that it was because of some pissy art critic calling them "barbarians destroying music" and calling it goth rock as an insult
I dont like anything from about the 90s until Dead Son Rising. DSR is a fucking great album though, and the two ones after are damn decent too. Looking forward to the new one.
>most underrated
>not Mephisto Walz
