Hi everyone, loving the orchestra in the magma record.
Really like the song 'C'est pour nous' of this album. Offering was a side project of Christian Vander dedicated to John Coltrane.
Also theres and incredible live performance of Frumpy - 'How The Gypsy Was Born' on youtube, I'd recommend giving it a watch.
:o]
you guys like italian prog?
pic unrelated
underrated album, as most anatolian rock is
of course, based music scene
Where do I go next with Zeuhl? I've listened to Mëkanïk Dëstruktïẁ Kömmandöh and Eros already and loved them.
the rest of Magma's discography
Eskaton - 4 Visions is a must
picrel for another entry level classic
and ofc more magma
This one, 'Pictures' by Island from 1977. Really complex, heady stuff, kinda zeuhl and vdgg influenced, but very unique
you talkin Zess my man? cause Zess is hot fire
Try the rest of the Theusz Hamtaahk Trilogy. also check out Weidorje if you haven't already youtube.com
much as i have become obsessed with magma, i have yet to come around to Offering. I think I just prefer Klaus over Christian's voice? But then I love Attahk and Zëss, so idk
Thanks anons.
Soleil Zeuhl label is a great little rabbit hole, I'd reccomend Corima as a starting point
they're the Aztec one yes?
The piano tone on every zeuhl release I've ever heard sounds so grating, as in way too soft sounding for the mood of the music. I've never heard anyone else say this but it really bothers my autism.
mdk?
this has made my morning a million times more pleasant and i thank you
I haven't listened to that one yet. I heard the first two Magma albums and the first Eskaton single, but that piano sound really bothers me. It lacks any punch and sounds way too soft

punch
the first couple magma albums weren't quite 'zeuhl' yet
I'm gonna buy the live Magma box set and nothing will stop me except maybe my inner Jew.
superb
Curved Air has some real gems

Who hyped for new IQ
Can anyone recommend me some sad/depressing prog?
Porcupine Tree
Riverside

Is fucking great
I quite liked Hundred Sights Of Koenji, and I'm not usually into Zeuhl
Hell yeah man, Road of Bones and Frequency were both great, pretty sure the new one is another double album.
The Tea Club also has a new album coming out at the end of this month, get hype
Was unironically just about to post TTC, kind of went over my head and discovered them a week or so ago.
Early Anekdoten is also kind of underappreciated.
am I wrong or is Renaissance not really well known here? never saw it discussed in a prog thread, maybe I've just been unlucky though
youtube.com
when you say hundred sights, do you mean the album or the band?
Ruins
they used to get discussed every now and again when i first came on Yea Forums years ago, but the general consensus were that they were a bit on the corny side of prog. but at the time, most people here only gave a shit about Canterbury Sound bands and their affiliates as far as prog was concerned
The album. I haven't gotten to the rest of the band's albums yet, but from what I've heard they're a pretty consistent band quality wise.
i'd say their first two albums are definitely a little different from the later ones in that they maintain a much more loud/distorted dynamic throughout. all their albums go there for sure, but stuff like angherr shisspa or dhorimviskha has a lot more muted moments and generally clean piano tones as well
Third isn't obscure by our measures, but it's is the epitome of prog-rock excellence and deserves mention. Moon In June is a masterpiece on its own. What lesser known works are similar?
The Lasagna Boyz - Pasta Party
Art hoes fear the /prog/
Egg's first 2 albums
just record yourself making fart sounds.
rare chiptune prog

Bondage Fruit
1001 centrigrades, kohntarkosz, k.a. & rerospective vol. 1 & 2 are the best magma albums
Where's all the good new prog?
pic unrelated, i hope
camembert electrique and joy of a toy both have their moments, idk
>chiptune prog
>rare
literally every JRPG boss battle on the snes was a prog masterpiece

A thousand times better than the shelf of Yes rip offs that just hit you with thousand synth driven melodies with no climaxes
doesn't make it prog
That’s not prog.
Posting a god tier krautrock album from the last five years
Shit this is really cool thanks for the rec user
just because it's better than a turd doesn't mean it's good
Did you mean to post this, the prog Kairon;Irse album?
wobbler
>album is one song
The guy who plays guitar on this was only 18 or 19 years old when this was recorded, pretty impressive actually.
Zao, Abus Dangereux, Potemkin, Blue Effect, DFA, Fermata, Pekka Pohjola, Atoll, Edition Speciale, One Shot, Heldon and Sloche Id all consider hidden gem discoveries.
Need to check out more krautrock and italo prog.
Cool concept but did it have to use gameboy esque sounds like literally every other chiptune release? Makes what could of otherwise been an unique album boring.
Also this. Every old jrpgs ost was basically symphonic prog, be it Ys, Brandish, Langrisser, Sword of Vermillion or Ogre Battle.
Good new prog doesnt exist. All the good modern prog is avant prog and zeuhl stuff.
I found this chart a while ago, it's for avant-prog/post-punk fusions like This Heat for example, maybe it's helpful for someone else too
Fucking great album, based my man
it's nes sounds from famitracker. he has a very unique sound anyway, despite the common format
bump
>Unique sound
>something Tim Follin has done better on actual hardware restrictions
An album composed purely of genesis/x68000 fm synth sounds would actually be unique.
Been listening to Triumvirat a lot recently. shit's glorious
Focus 3 finna dab on Moving Waves
>listening to a prog album
>it turns out to be a jazz-fusion album
i'm looking for a prog album from the late 60s or early 70s. the cover is mostly black and yellow, with a big title at the top. the art looks a lot like the Grammaphone classical releases. if you find it i'll DM you an upvote. thanks.
That Officer album is great. I know nothing about it though. haven't heard or thought about it in years.
this
and pic related
their styles aren't similar at all. might be my fault as I posted probably his most traditional sounding prog song though.
I don't think those sound chips have tools as advanced as nes/gameboy do
