99% of EDM out there is all cookie cutter. That's why people hate my music, Im a legitimate EDM artist and they're jealous that I'm actually trying to change the genre up instead of pooping while listening to kicks hit on 1 and 3 saying "yup! that's finished!"

You need to boost that sub bass big time. Here's a tip
EQ your bass as fully sub with the high end turned up enough for the bass to be recognizable on small speakers.
Next, EQ your kicks to be at the highest LOW-end frequency (right between bass and mid) that way it's distinguishable from the bass and isn't muddy in the mix. Your welcome.

dubbi please don't tell people to "Turn up ALL the knobs on your fuzz pedals and distortion pedals". That actually makes them sound less loud. what you should instead be saying is roll back the gain and turn up the volume.

I was being lazy LOL but nah you're wrong too. THIS is what I should have said:
Turn knobs marked "gain" &/or "overdrive" all the way up. Turn other volume knobs down to get the loudness you want. Once you've proved you can get heavy distortion, dial things back to find the tone you want. Focus on being LOUD!! Some amps won't distort at low volumes, mainly because that's dumb as all hell LOL. If yours is like this, either just play loud or give up.

distortion equals compression. compression equals less dynamic range and that means there is less percieved loudness. heavy distortion gives most amps a garage sound and in some cases results in the strings being audible, while double tracking and restrained gain usage is the way of the dragon.
