Why is every Nirvana fan I meet some yuppie college kid? Isn't the band supposed to be like the voice of the poor disenfranchised people or something?

No, grunge is all middle-class ennui. Punk is supposed to be for poor people

I was a fan in highschool.....10 years later, I still am.

Bite me faggot.

Nirvana went full mainstream with the nevermind album their audience wasn't poor disenfranchised whatever after that

Nirvana has always been college boy shit. The poor working class listens to Oasis.

>Everything's an image, even farmer shit. If you're not from anywhere there's a farm and you're wearing lumberjack shit, that's an image. What are you, cutting down trees for a living?

A lot of early Grunge was very glam inspired user (Mother Love Bone, early Alice in Chains)

They were glam wannabes who jumped on the grunge bandwagon.

Because Nevermind is just punk for college kids.

Alice N' Chains were glam as fuck MLB, not so much..their singer just had long hair, thats about it.

Poison might suck, but I enjoy them anyway. They're like the closest to bubblegum pop I can have, and I'll take it.

WIN BIG, MAMAS FALLEN ANGEEEEEEEEEEEEL
LOSE BIG, LIVIN' HER LIFE

>poor disenfranchised people

They never were this.

Nirvana WERE the grunge bandwagon. They were the first to get famous for it and the press coined the term "grunge" afterwards.

Cause zoomers misinterpreted "grunge"

Shit even Gen X misinterpreted grunge lol

Its so funny how the press cheered when grunge collapsed the glam/hair metal party, but grunge fizzled out wayyy faster than any MTV metal band. Where are green river now, where is mudhoney? None of these bands are relevant or in anyones conscious anymore. Bret fucking Michaels is a clown, but hes arguably bigger now than he was in the 80s.

>Isn't the band supposed to be like the voice of the poor disenfranchised people or something?
They never tried to be this your just trying to make some arbitrary point

>grunge fizzled out wayyy faster than any MTV metal band. Where are green river now, where is mudhoney? None of these bands are relevant or in anyones conscious anymore.

Most of the best bands in the genre split up before the 1990's were over and replaced by dumbed down "post grunge" bands like Creed, Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback, etc. Also Green River and Mudhoney were never popular so that's a weird comparison. Pearl Jam still headlines arenas.

>I saw Malfunkshun open for Whitehouse, that neofascist industrial band, and Malfunkshun fuckin’ destroyed them. Whitehouse was a stale joke by that point: this guy in jackboots and a black leather trench coat coming through the crowd going, “I’m going to rape you!” I was like, “No, you’re not.” They weren’t the least bit threatening or real.
>It was posturing, whereas I just saw a really unhinged performance on the part of Kevin Wood, who was on his knees the whole time with his eyes rolling back in his head, just playing the craziest shit.

>Bret fucking Michaels is a clown, but hes arguably bigger now than he was in the 80s.

Wouldn't go that far....Poison was an arena act and household name back then. He's doing "fine" these days and his VH1 fame got him some extra celeb juice, but he's nowhere as big a star as he was in Poison's prime.

Nirvana always brings the soibois out of the woodwork

>"Wahhhhh Im so wounded and edgy and nihilistic commercialisms stoooopid!!! Brb going to my million dollar house in seattle to blow my brains out."

we literally have a nirvana hate thread every day, why do you want to even talk about it? what could there possibly be left to say? you're resorting to vague assumptions about the people who listen to them, where do you get this data? I'm sure every person who listened to tupac wasn't black, why assume that yuppies can't like good music? genuinely get a life
