Why is it that one of the most popular Yea Forumscore albums on the site is a shoegaze album, yet shoegaze in general is very rarely discussed?

Attached: My_Bloody_Valentine_-_Loveless.png (220x220, 64K)

because Shoegaze doesn't have many great albums?

The majority of people would agree this is the pinnacle of the genre and therefore it attracts all the shoegaze tourists. Shoegaze can sound a bit samey to a lot of people who don't want to dive in and they are content with listening to MBV/Slowdive/Ride. Nothing against Loveless though, it deserves most of the praise and probably IS arguably the best of the genre, but there is so much more.

Attached: 1560085596017.png (1286x1241, 1.59M)

Why this doesn't get as much love as Loveless

Attached: R-4331747-1368382334-6922.jpeg.jpg (600x600, 92K)

I see it get placed a lot in chart threads. I don't know if it's indicative of anything but hey.

tfw not on streaming so zoomers can't enjoy it. It's a great album and got quite a bit of positive acclaim, but it suffers from being in the shadow of Loveless.
youtube.com/watch?v=y2FQ3ih0MoE
youtube.com/watch?v=UUc5y1NljXI

reccing this because it's underrated desu

Attached: R-652053-1143652061.jpeg.jpg (600x600, 153K)

It's the same case with other genres as well. Discussion of genres such as emo, jazz or metal are a waste of time outside of their respective generals in Yea Forums.

It's a real shame that /emoe/ and /shugazi/ are so dead now. I remember when I did this chart in 2015. The already dying /shugazi/ general was so active back in those days in comparison to the current state.

There was a time when Candy Claws, Kairon; IRSE! and Blonde Redhead's 23 were very well discussed in Yea Forums, though.

23 is such a good album. I know their otyher projects don't have the same sound, but I should probably give them a better look.

I feel that bands like Autolux, Silversun Pickups and Deerhunter (specially on Microcastle) played on a similar vein. You should totally check them out as well.

opps. I do remember Misery Is A Butterfly being pretty good

Pale Saints is amazing as well, definitely in my top 10 shoegaze bands

I love Autolux, but I never really got into Deerhunter. They don't really feel like a shoegaze artist to me.

The final word in shoegaze

Attached: HoLV.jpg (640x640, 114K)

desu pic related isn't too bad.

Attached: SSPU_Carnavas.jpg (316x316, 15K)

For me, it's Treasure. Honestly the whole discog is great, even Milk and Kisses and Four Calendar Cafe

Attached: cocteau-twins-treasure-7-cd.jpg (800x400, 66K)

Tru, but Heaven or Las Vegas is probably the most accessible and a good way for newbies to get into shoegaze. If they don't get it when they hear Cherry Colored Funk then they're never going to get it.

Deerhunter I feel is a good transition artists between genres. Especially dream pop/neo psych

Trying desperately to find bands that do Kraus' brand of loud, dreamy sounding noiserock

youtube.com/watch?v=h_a36QFU9eM

I know these are well-known, but give them a try if you haven't already.
Whirr - Distressor
Nothing - Guilty of Everything
Astrobrite - Pinkshinyultrablast
Tokyo Shoegazer - Crystallize

One of the top 10 albums of the decade in my opinion. She found Now is so beautiful, Wonder 2 is the most bizarre of closers

Very true lol. My other normie breaker tracks are Sugar Hiccup, Blue Bell Knoll and Pandora

I'll give a hand at this
Mumrunner - Bond
>youtube.com/watch?v=FoVgxaWp9iY
Teenage Wrist - Slide Away
>youtube.com/watch?v=zKqZU2vevr8
Nothing - Vertigo Flowers
>youtube.com/watch?v=WjM0SRPXSUo

Plugging my spotify playlist. It's on the dreamier side and includes a ton of international bands. You'll find a few more like what I recommended

Check Drowse. They released a good album this year as well

Based Swirlies

2bh id bet everyone here would prefer this swirlies album to the other ones

this good? I've never actually listened past the 2nd album sadly

bumpin and reccing this
dare to say it's similar to early Cocteau Twins, but with male vocals

Attached: R-373906-1551047124-6777.jpeg.jpg (600x600, 151K)

fellas... why is this the best shoegaze album of all time

Attached: ezzezezeze.jpg (598x596, 164K)

Love Lowlife. Really like that dreary post punk/dream pop sounds. Would rec Sad Lovers and Giants, The Chameleons and THE NAMES for that same type of sound. Kitchens of Distinction is a good shoegaze/postpunk mashup as well

Attached: KoD - Strange Free World.jpg (480x360, 18K)

Listen to it.

hey that was pretty good. I'm glad to see they still had it in them post-2000. Liked this track a lot youtube.com/watch?v=y4v8GlncaO4

Head Over Heels is my favorite. Garlands also for it's more gothic/post-punk sound
youtube.com/watch?v=tNk-mlgXRp4
Been listening to this a lot lately

Obligatory Delaware post

This is a classic

Oh hey it's another one of these.
I'm sure most of you have listened, reminder that:
Sweet Trip, Lush, Lilys, A Sunny Day In Glasgow, Pale Saints, and Alvvays are essentials if you learn on the dream pop side.
Also that Loveliescurling is a mediocre band that people rec for whatever fucking reason.
Also, anyone listen to Tennis System? Been interested in getting into their smol discog and want to see if anyone with taste has given it a chance

Attached: Screenshot_20190404-152756__01.jpg (512x625, 42K)

new westkust is basically alvvays with the twee, dying p4k indie "rock" bullshit traded in for proper pre-ymmr MBV happygaze

Quique is soooo good

My favorite Seefeel track
m.youtube.com/watch?v=9nD4_gNEC1Y

Their album Teenagers is good. I like the guy’s voice, it has powerful a post punk quality to it

pearlty is defintely one of the strongest albums on this along with drowse, looking forward to more from knifeplay

Agree, Knifeplay and Drowse at the top. Probably enjoy Tijuana Taxi and the new Westkust the next most.

Reccing this. Good 90s indie-pop with a more abrasive twee-punkish sound

Attached: Crayon - Brick Factoruy.jpg (650x650, 160K)

For Against is also some good post punk/dream pop cross

Attached: 1560904757057.jpg (600x519, 102K)

Agreed, listened to that and Technicolor, which is just a summerwave mix that's worse than Sunny Day in Glasgow. Namesake track and Such a Drag were pretty good

based

Of all the albums I have listen to so far on this chart. Mass of Fermenting Dregs is the only one I like.

Check out Skywave if you haven't already

Have you tried Kinoko Teikoku, tricot or My Dead Girlfriend? You might like these if you haven’t

New one is pretty good too

Yes but which one?

She Found now is one of their best. Top 5 for sure. For me it's their best song.

the contrarian's choice

Attached: bailter-space.jpg (600x600, 37K)

I prefer They Spent in all honesty, Blonder Tongue has some standout tracks but it's less enjoyable as a full album.

What shoegaze do you listen to on a run?

bump

For runs, Trellisaze by Slowdive is perfect for a good "life is fading nd I gotta run" feeling

Attached: Stereolab - Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements.jpg (1200x1200, 244K)

Depreciation Guild for me. It’s pretty upbeat with more chiptune and electronic elements. Sweet Trip as well for the same reason

I stopped browsing Yea Forums around the time the shoegaze general changed name to /shugazi/ because of that one moron, so I don't know how often "Weed" is shilled. Their debut "Deserve" is still absolute gold and I highly recommend it to any fans of Nothing - Guilty of Everything.

>Weed - Silent Partner

continued

I can't believe that fucking faggot "Goslings" managed to shill his garbage music so hard that it hasn't been removed from the charts.

man i kind of like you guys but most of the time I wish all of you were dead
yeah

Good running music is basically good dancing music imo. Shoegaze isnt usually very danceable but the same rule applies, whatever shoegaze makes you want to dance is good running music. Here's a shoegaze track/album that i liked running too:
youtu.be/GLHZ98Alk4Q
This too:
youtu.be/CNbd8srJBTA
And get some Soundpool (and Stargazer Lilies) in your life:
youtu.be/OvuiklhLoog

>Soundpool
not him but that sounds really good. nice!

Soundpool is nice and pretty unique. Slide reccing The Veldt and the 3rd Chapterhouse album for more strange shoegaze/alt dance combos

I always say repeat on Yea Forums, If I Am is one my favorite songs from this decade and probably my favorite by them
youtube.com/watch?v=e1rTrglSUk4

also, this

it's the best rock record of the decade

>Also that Loveliescurling is a mediocre band that people rec for whatever fucking reason.
hey bloweyelashwish is a masterpiece!

I've posted it before and it looks like I'm posting it again.

Attached: Screenshot_20190709-232251__01.jpg (1080x378, 61K)

I'll give it a listen, I stopped actually browsing here in 2015 so I feel your pain. Goslings was a complete fag

pic related? Didn't realize it was shilled by him hear lmao

any rockish shoegaze album with no overwhelmingly loud music?

nah it was me (not him) i used to spam it a long time ago

>Swervedriver
>True Widow
>Whipping Boy
>Sun Dial
>Hum
>Catherine Wheel
>Smashing Orange
>Catherine
>Ride
>Starflyer 59
All of these artists I'd say blends rock and shoegaze to some degree
