What's your favorite quote in a jazz song? Mine is A.T. doing the 20th Century Fox intro on Donald Byrd's Off to the Races.

What's some good big band stuff? I know next to nothing about it
I only know free jazz big band albums
John Coltrane - Ascension, Africa/Brass
Ornette Coleman - Free Jazz
Sam Rivers - Crystals
I think Mingus has some albums that have big bands too.
Peter Brozman - Machine Gun
Yeah, I mostly know some free jazz ones too. I was looking for a more traditional swing sound where it's just a lot of guys with a lot of brass playing standards and having fun.
But thanks anyway, I'm gonna check out some of these albums I didn't know yet.
came here to post this

Benny Carter Further Definitions is really nice. Also check out Clarke / Boland, they have many great albums together.
