Beats The Rolling Stones at their own blues rock game

>beats The Rolling Stones at their own blues rock game
>beats the Velvet Underground at their own art rock game
>beats Bob Dylan at his own poet game
>turned psychedelic rock into something tough instead of a bunch of hippy flower child shit
>every member is exceptionally good at their instruments, further relistens increase enjoyment
>last great rock singer to not have a squeaky girly voice, instead singing in a booming baritone
The Doors are definitely the single greatest American band of all time, and are serious contenders for the greatest band in the world

>>beats The Rolling Stones at their own blues rock game
Yeah, probably
>>beats the Velvet Underground at their own art rock game
TVU was more varied, though at their best the Doors were on the same level
>>beats Bob Dylan at his own poet game
Definitely not
>>turned psychedelic rock into something tough instead of a bunch of hippy flower child shit
There were plenty of "hard" peych groups at that time
>>every member is exceptionally good at their instruments, further relistens increase enjoyment
True, though hardly unique to the Doors
>>last great rock singer to not have a squeaky girly voice, instead singing in a booming baritone
No, there were good post-Morrison baritones too
Great band though

He was good at all of these but he didn't beat any of them in it.

Can you give examples of these? I like the Doors a lot and would love more music that sounds similar :)

Am I a pleb if Light My Fire is still my favorite Doors song? That organ solo is just oath

Not a pleb at all, friend! :)

based.

its not pre-Doors but Mad River s/t is good.

why hasnt there been a band all these years that sounds like them, or have even tried to copy their style? doors were once in a lifetime kinda band.

I like the Doors but read a book

Michael Yonkers, Amon Düül II, Captain Beyond

I’m actually reading one right now, it’s great!

>Band doesn't have a bassist

idk if they beat VU, other than that totally based

The romantic macho nietzschean thing is impossible to pull off without looking like a pompous ass. Jim truly lived it so it worked with him.

Reminder that The Doors and psychedelic music as a whole were a CIA-backed psyop. Jim Morrison's father was a Navy commander during the Gulf of Tonkin incident.

Nick Cave is like Morrison, but somehow crazier. None of his or The Birthday Party's music sounds much like the Doors outside of that, though.

>>beats Bob Dylan at his own poet game
lol no

He's right you know
Frank Zappa's father did MKUltra stuff too btw

Could you give some examples?

It's discussed a little bit here: whale.to/b/zappa.html
There's no indication of what Zappa's father did specifically, and of course it isn't like anyone else would know (especially since he was apparently just a scientist, not someone particularly important).

>game
i would have complained about art not being competitive but this is 100% accurate
