You're acting like there isn't millions and millions of bands to choose from and more than half of them don't have less than a thousand listens.
It's almost as if it's just a platform to put music, regardless of how obscure you are.

I don't know about spotify but a local band of me made up entirely of teenagers was able to get their grunge album on Apple Music last year. less than 300 people even know they exist, i would say thats pretty obscure.
