What is the single best song of all time?
Some propositions, Fishmans’ Long Season. CAN’s Bel Air. King Crimson’s Starless.
Note that long does not necessarily mean good, but a lot of good songs are long — as is the case with the songs I proposed.

Good suggestion
Long Season isn't even the best Japanese song over 25 minutes, that's X Japan's Art of Life
There is no "single best song of all time." It's an exercise in futility to so much as suggest it. What there is is *favorite* songs and commercial hits. People have songs they really like. And we can look up which single record sold the most ever. Whatever that song is, most of /mu would disagree with naming it as the best-ever song. So, we get back to this being a *favorites* situation.
Gackt - U+K
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Nick Drake - River Man
This is unbeatable
While you most certainly are correct, entertaining and discussing the idea is still fairly fun. It’s a shame that people just list a song without further explaining what makes it better than any other song (although that, once again, mostly comes down to subjectivity).

>thread is single best song of all time

I was listing my favorite songs of all time because I can’t choose one between those. That’s pretty easy to understand, but I guess you are just a dummy.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Spans almost the entire gamut of Western music from Gregorian chanting, classical opera, to progressive rock. Incredibly innovative editing techniques. Virtuoso vocals. Has a colossal emotional range from tearjerking ballad to possibly the best head banging fist pumping rock riff in history. You can all stop posting in this thread now, because this is the objective truth.
Bohemian Rhapsody
Van Morrison - Madame George
I'd go with New Grass but good choice
