Daily reminder you will never be as good as Yngwie "The Maestro" Malmsteen. If you hate his music you're a faggot who listens to folk rock and are jealous of his superior abilities.
Currently learning Weather Report - Birdland. Any reccs for good arrangers? I'm getting sick of these Hal Leonard cuts that I've been playing since high school.
look at the circuit and make sure the middle position completes both circuits. if you post pics I might be able to say more. should be minimal work, really
Jack Sanders
first to tell shoegaze and post-rock sơylords to go back to r*ddit
>play some lydian stuff >sound like Satriani Disgusting
Levi Robinson
^ this malmsteen play fast but no EVH lightning fast tremolos.
Jaxon Hughes
No one likes you is probably the main reason. Youre not fooling anyone.
Nathan Nelson
thats not true you love me
Ayden Rivera
i own a roadstar II it doesnt have the pointy neck access which i hate like this one
Aaron Turner
Sam you know we all love you here, you're the undisputed Kin/gg/. There's only one person here who won't openly admit it but that's because you tore his ass up in three different duels, but even he loves you. He's just still a little sore because you fucked him in the ass and turned him into a fa/gg/ot, he'll come around eventually (lol, get it?).
build one using the STRATosphere to get the base model instead from there install custom shit.
Robert Ramirez
Gibson for sure. Honestly a beat up Les Paul is usually a really good one since somebody actually played it and didn't part with it easily. It will also pretty much always be worth what you paid or more.
Camden Lopez
>just build you a boat paddle shut up idiot
Benjamin Cook
way too dark to be a strat
Justin Morgan
dont you have a frozen kaka dildo to shove in your ass sam ?
Brody Foster
Im not too sure. But i added the heat treated bucker cover. It sounds great but it was a single conductor pickup. I dont know if it came off my chink dean or not. If so its probably a chinese jb copy.
Josiah Bennett

so it was just some trash you had laying around?

Does it matter if I don't learn that fast ascending run on the Sweet Child O Mine solo and just one of my own
Parker Smith
You shouldn't take shortcuts when you're still learning the instrument. You're a faggot if you're copying solos note for note once you've developed your own style, though.
Wyatt Morales
If you can get one that's the right weight you can't go wrong with a good LP Studio dawg. What color is it?
Considering you won't ever play it outside your bedroom, I'd say no
Ian Evans
I've been worried about the weight of LPs considering the last electric guitar I had was an SG but the weight didn't feel too bad once I had it on a strap. I'll just get one of those big boomer straps for max comfy. It's a dark red, the wood grain is fucking sexual on it. I started my search with the restriction of only monochromatic guitars but this red works for me.
I can play guitar and play that solo fairly well, I just never bothered to learn that part of the solo, but now I want to play that solo on Instagram.
Live it doesn't matter much but I dunno if it does for internet critics.
Tyler Rogers
But how much does it weigh? If it dosen't weigh at least 9 1/2lbs it'll sound like shit.
Aaron Bailey
Tone is in the baseball neck, every boomer knows this
Alexander Robinson
Really? How should I figure that out..? Bring a scale to the pawn shop?
Jeremiah White
this guy knows his shit
Nolan Perry
Do you know what a good sounding LP sounds like?
Mason Adams
Should I learn how to read music or is tab sufficient for guitar? I know it’s a good idea to learn music for other instruments but is it for guitar?
Brody Russell
Nope. I've played guitar for most of my life but I've always been a dipshit when it comes to gear. Mostly I've played my acoustic or deferred to my friends' gear knowledge when it comes to electric.
Liam Wright
Paul McCartney still doesn't know how to read music. Should you learn it? Yes. Will not learning it prevent you from being successful? No.
David Phillips
Considering the fact that he’s not a very good guitarist this definitely encourages one to learn to read
John Smith
Then yes, take a scale with you. At a little over 9 1/2lbs you're good to go and anything below that or past 11lbs leave there.
Oliver Davis
He's a pretty monumental bassist, though.
John Williams
Also don't be afraid to ask them wether you can enter their warehouse and weigh all models in stock there yourself
Evan Long
learn enough to be able to figure stuff by ear. the effort of that will also make you improve.
Michael Gray
You think our boomers will play stuff like CHON once they are 60 and tap away on their ibeenhads or will they get converted to that blues shit on gibsons when those darn fingers just won't fly like they used to?
Julian Jones
I think you think I'm memeing about weighing the guitar but I'm not. I collect good Les Pauls. Standards, Customs, Classics, Studios, etc. Things I consistently look for >year: anything from the early 90s until sometime around the mid 2000s, Gibson went to chambered bodies at one point and chambered Les Pauls suck dick >honduras mahogany, this seems to have changed around the mid to late 2000s >quartersawn neck >weight: little over 9 lbs up to a little under 11 lbs
You don't need a heavy LP. All the ones from the 50s were lighter weight mahogany. 8.5-9 pounds is the ideal range. Go look at any custom shop LP, they're all in this weight range
Jonathan Davis
>All the ones from the 50s were lighter weight mahogany. This isn't true. >8.5-9 pounds is the ideal range. >Go look at any custom shop LP, they're all in this weight range Only because Custom Shop buying boomers kept complaining about the "excessive" weight. Go look at the weight of any pre Historic 90s 50s Les Paul reissue and it will weigh closer to the 10lb mark. This is because this is what most of the real 1950 Les Pauls weighed and what they were trying to replicate before retarded boomers who didn't actually play intervened.
Jeremiah Lewis
hmmm I wonder if this one is chambered. It was either a 2006 or 2008 model which is about when they started doing that. Is there a way for me to tell?
Anthony Gonzalez
And let me guess you also believe the 'good wood' era meme too? Countless studies have shown weight has no impact on how a solid body electric guitar sounds, so you can go buy your heavy LPs if you want but it makes no difference, at best 1%
Jacob Thomas
Don't take out the middle pickup, save it for positions two and four.
You'll need a 'super-switch', or you can add a push-pull switch to keep the original five sounds and add the bridge-and-neck sound as well as the bridge-middle-and-neck sound.
Alexander Morris
I'd stay away from that shit then if it was me. You could get the serial number and call Gibson and ask but they're shit as far as customer service is concerned. This is my personal experience talking. Try to keep in mind that I'm not asking you anything here. No offense or anything, I just don't suffer fools well.
Jaxon Torres
>This is my personal experience talking Mine too, but I really do believe the weight thing is pure cork sniffing when it comes to solid bodies and LPs. I've played several and the more important things to me are the pickups, pickup height, and the hardware, not the weight of the actual guitar in determining how good it will sound.
Chase Wood
>I really do believe Great, good for you. I don't care and I'm not asking you.
Carter Phillips
>ignores the rest of my comment Found the cork sniffer, thanks for confirming
Sebastian Rodriguez
>I don't care and I'm not asking you. maybe a private discord conversation would suit you better then? :)
Kevin Myers
If you can't stand being told your opinion has no value as far as I'm concerned then I don't know what to tell you. It's not my problem. Sorry.
I think you just described yourself user, better start collecting those 15 pound Norlin era Les Pauls, I bet your notes will sustain for 0.0000001 more seconds :^)
Ian Richardson
>I go to internet forums to ignore everyone else and only spout my own opinion Glad you've confirmed for us you love sucking your own dick
John Walker
Singing general, come here Singing general, come here
Carter Martin
I have a few Norlin era Les Pauls including one with a three piece quartersawn maple neck that's amazingly thin for a Les Paul. But 70s era Les Pauls are notoriously hit or miss as far as build quality is concerned. This goes up until sometime around the mid to late 80s and then overall quality takes an uptick across the board. They're also "vintage" now which is why I suggested he look at 90s up into early 2000s models, the prices are much friendlier.
William Cook
What do you think of roasted maple, /gg/? I just bought this guy and have mixed feelings overall. I think the best feature is the neck, although I wish it was as thin as a Wizard neck. Pickups are alright but that neck is lovely.
I think it looks like shit and I can't wait for the meme to die
Colton Morgan
I want to buy my first guitar after renting a nylon string. I want to give electric a try. What brands have you used and how do you like them?
Ayden Myers
Is it worth posting wanted ads on Craigslist and Facebook to try to find the bass I've been looking for?
Charles Wood
The neck is lovely but it doesn’t really go with the pink body.
Ryan Turner
>Fender Great guitars, still more or less the same as they've been since time immemorial. Even their lower end standards are pretty good for MIM. Strats are timeless, you can't go wrong but Fender has been price creeping lately. I got a 2006 MIM off the wall for $440 back then, same shit was $850 in 2017, now the Player is $900 and the Vintera is allegedly $1000+. This is all in CAD. Sure they get better but price gouging sucks.
>Godin Like Fender, but cheaper. You can get MIA construction and quality for the same price as an MIM. They make (more or less) LP, Strat, Tele, and Casino """clones""", so pick your poison.
>BC Rich Meme shit. I guess my Mockingbird was alright for what I paid but prepare to be seen as an edgelord.
>Epiphone Avoid. Chinkshit.
>Charvel Not bad, not terrible. You could do better for the price but they're built great and have great stock pups.
>PRS Meme shit. You're paying a premium for their admittedly great finishes and tops but they're overpriced as fuck.
>Ibanez Of all my guitars, I like my Ibanez the most. Good shit, especially their necks. But prepare to spend an arm and a leg because anything below Premium/Prestige is certifiably shit. Worth the money but costs a lot.
>binding >strat shape >no pickguard >Fender logo wat
David Baker
You can just put pansy gauges on.
Eli Powell
Looks good combined with the army drab green. I liked the neck aswell but the pickup config isn't to my liking both in terms of pickup choice and wiring. I love the D profile on the socal HH or whatever it's called.
You have shit taste, you're not allowed to post on this board anymore. If anybody else see's this loser post please report him for having such trash taste.
Brayden Miller
I'll just utilize the headroom of my hot pickups. I only play at 30% normally and turn the volume knob up. I know that you only wound these things three or four times for the tone mojo in the 60s so that might surprise you and your gibson.
James Ward
Overwound pickups with the volume rolled off must be muddy as shit.
Do youtube critics care if I didnt learn the fast ascending part of the Sweet Child o Mine solo? That one when the progression changes
Ethan Morales
I was thinking of getting the one with the orange finish lol, what's your stance
Cameron Thompson
What does this even mean?
Landon Kelly
that sounds like myself noodling
Samuel Ross
My stance tends to be collapsing to my knees. Whenever my eyes start bleeding, I mean.
Aaron Jackson
>youtube critics you mean random people? do whatever the fuck you want dude you're not going to be happy if you do things just to impress other people
Elijah Cooper
What do you mean what does this even mean? I was very clear.
Nah it's been working so far because I actually impress them.
Camden Parker
I mean this:
Cameron Nelson
fuck you introvert loser, im an egomaniac

And your friend is there trashing other males and getting the support of the females in the group. Shredder incel btfo and you didn't get any pussy either.
Justin Edwards
i think you should worry more about yourself using the c* word seriously
Zachary Jenkins
yeah all sort of true sadly. however my friend is a literal faggot and turned the ro*stie down when she hit on him lmao and at least the shredder got a free beer out of it.
What is the "third" of a note? I know what are the diminished, augmented, major and minor thirds of any note, but I've seen many people talking about just the "third" of a note (same with seconds, fourths and so on).
Isaac Myers
lucky and tasteful
Bentley Murphy
lolwut, Fender's trying to compete in the superstrat market now? They forgot to put a floyd on it
Asher Young
the third degree of the key you're in?
Christian Moore
Google "beginner intervals lesson" my guy
Logan Hill
There's no "third of a note". Either you misheard or they misspoke.
Wyatt Nguyen
Yeah there is. When you harmonize in thirds, or go up a third from the note you're on. You can use intervals relatively, you know
Eli Ortiz
But degrees are relative to a scale. I think is right and I just misheard or someone misspoke.

Hey Yea Forums told me to come here because they said this is the place on Yea Forums where idiots who can't play guitar come to shit out their baseless opinions. Were they right?
I'm not going to rate this, I'm just going to reply to say that guitar case looks kinda weird imo. I have some strong opinions about things almost related to the topics in this tread.
You do you though. I'm going to go chug some onions.

Shut the fuck up. People that start at 9 learn just as fast as people that start at 29, given she same amount of effort. Stop making excuses and practice more.
Alexander Sanders
...and? to this day clapton plays the same tired pentatonic licks.
Gavin Hall
Don't think about this, ever. Just play things you enjoy and you will incorporate those skills. Also this >will forever be a plebe because I started late playing guitar is not how it works
Brandon Baker
That's simply not true.
Jace Gutierrez
Yeah, people who start at 29 actually learn faster. Get any older and you actually get dumber though, at which point you stop learning new things as well
Andrew Evans
It is. Stop making excuses
Tyler Young
People are going to uni in their 80s.

You are not competing with anyone but yourself. Stop comparing yourself to others, instead enjoying the craft itself, and you will come closer to success

Rofl, I started at 18 and I guarantee I'm gonna save rock and roll and release a groundbreaking album. A masterpiece equivalent to "Marquee Moon" and I'll be as big as Jack White. Meanwhile you're groveling like a faggot. Cya loser

What you, an autist, thought happened: Musical hipsters stuck in the grunge era took over the planet and we've been stuck being miffed over hair metal ever since. Everyone 100% believes and means everything they say, after all.
What really happened: She thought your friend was hot and came up with some vapid, generic agreements because she wanted to fuck him, and if she was talking to free beer guitar man she would say he was really talented and going to be famous. Most normal men and women do this when they want sum fuk.
historically gibsons were the best electric guitars on the market, having noiseless pickups, less intrusive neck heels, flatter fretboards without issues like bends choking out, and better quality control. they were also only for rich people, ie: rock stars. and they carried the name of an influential and talented guitarist of the time, as if a guitar released today were called the ibanez tim henson.
today gibsons are pretty mediocre especially for the price. the features they pioneered were copied by some and outdone by others. and any trailer park hick can finance one through sweetwater.
This setup is more stereotypical of mediocre talent than a superstrat into two RATs into a 5150. Really,
Jacob Moore
looks like shit. it would go great with a dean
Zachary Williams
Top kek. I started learning when I was 21. I'm 27 now and willing to bet anything that I'm a better player than anyone in this thread.
Leo Moore
but you still suck so who cares?
Josiah Collins
Prove it.
Henry Roberts
There's no way for anyone to answer this question for you. Only you can know what guitars you like. None of us can fucking tell you what guitars you will like. Shop around* like a grown up until you find something that feels right FOR YOU and buy that and if you end up not liking it sell it. Don't get caught up in this fucking comparing specs internet shopping shit. It doesn't matter. Literally all that matters is what feels and sounds right TO YOU. What guitars I like it completely immaterial because we have completely different tastes.
*USED. Don't buy a fucking new guitar if you're just dabbling in electric guitars.
Thomas Edwards
*BUT if you're a naturally talented guitar player you will ultimately settle on an authentic Gibson.
they're $600-800 used. and a mexican fender is what, $500? and the vinteras now cost as much as a used AMERICAN gibson? and a japanese ibanez costs twice as much? get real. get a fuckin gibson.
Carter Davis
>zebra stripe pup covers Into the trash it goes
Jonathan Moore
because a high end epiphone is better
Nathaniel Adams
What model les paul is that? I know it’s a standard but where is it in gibson’s current range? Does it have nitro finish?
Brody James
Every authentic Gibson has a nitro finish. That's what you get when you buy quality.
Is this guy shilling or is it correct? Are most CVs or Contemporary squiers completely fine and it’s just online boards that shit on them for memes?
I’m trying to gauge if I need to buy mim here just have the real thing or should just settle for squiers. There is no point buying fender unless you go for MIA. Is that right?
Jonathan Young
>falling for the moog meme >not even for a sub37 How?
Hunter Hall
Just stick to Boss
Owen Wright
No, I just like actual guitar tone
Justin Ortiz
The Japs hate loud amps.
Lincoln Nelson
pick keeps slipping from my fingers when im strumming unless i hold it with my middle finger too any tips?
I want an ES-330 but can’t afford to buy authentic. What are some good alternatives?
Jose Cruz
You're most likely just not holding it right or angling it right. Also a thinner pick helps, for rhythm I like picks less than 1.0mm Save up for a used one or look at the Ibanez AS. Also the Studio version of the ES is really good and can be found cheap if you wait it out for a deal.
Austin Harris
A casino obviously. They're the same guitar praise of aesthetic differences.
Carter Rogers
Outside of*
Connor Ward
Has anyone here ever tried a 7.25 inch radius neck with a shredder thin neck profile? Thoughts?
Cameron Thompson
Yup. That's why the Japs hate loud amps: they live in a single room.
Noah Turner
It might work, but it would need a competent setup. I like a 7.25" radius with a medium neck, ultra comfy.
Oliver Morgan
What would be so hard about the setup? I don’t shred so I’m not really concerned about fretting out, I just think thinner necks are comfier
David Evans
Do you bend?
Hunter Allen
Hendrix and lots of other players did fine on a 7.25" radius. Unless you're going for ultra crazy bends you shouldn't have any problems. You can still get a low action that is more than playable
Parker Foster
Why is a more curved radius supposed to make playing chords easier?
Parker Hill
It lets you be a bit more sloppy since the the neck is rounder which lets you not angle your fingers as much as a flat radius. A flatter neck you need to curve your fingers more to make up for the lack of roundness. Its all just a practice thing though, you can get used to either one
Aaron Adams
I don’t bend to the point where fretting out would be an issue. I’m more wondering if there’s anyone here who thought they would like that neck radius and profile combo but was disappointed when they tried it
Sebastian Cook
Will we see Gibson end as a company in our lifetime? I think they already filed for bankruptcy last year.
Jack Mitchell
>and willing to bet anything that I'm a better player than anyone in this thread.
Go on then.
Levi James
You'll be fine, then. You really need to be hitting three-semitone bends above the twelfth fret for it to be an issue. Mine's very well set up at the moment, so it can handle it.
Can't say I've tried a wizard thin neck with a 7.25" radius, though, so sorry for the tangent.
Elijah White
Until people stop talking about them, no they'll be around. They gotten a ton of free advertising lately, which is what all the low IQ individuals don't understand. To get emotionally offended over the recent marketing ploy is hilarious and goes to show how girly modern men have become. I actually respect Gibson more now for putting the boot down, it was a smart move to create controversy just like the President does.
Matthew Jackson
If you're not Pink Suhr, get ready to have your ass handed to you by Pink Suhr.
Angel Walker
We can only hope so. Young players already don't know that brand anymore.
What is that effect he is doing in the first fill? Is it pinch harmonic or normal harmonic? I can’t get it to sound like that. I’d like to learn to do that.
Gavin Nelson
I'd like to see Pink Suhr participate in a guitar duel.
Jace Sullivan
I mistakenly bought an acoustic, and an eight string electric ibanez. They are far worse than even a "starcaster" (cheap newbie) fender. The frets aren't spaced properly, meaning you can never get all the notes in tune. On the acoustic, the width of the fret board is just barely too small which makes it so you are likely to accidentally bend the high string off the board. Both guitars have a horrible built-in electronic EQ that sounds terrible if it's used, putting them thru even the cheapest amp gives you better eq. The way both guitars came, the strings are just barely too close to the neck, which means fret buzz and weird harmonics. The acoustic's body doesn't resonate properly with standard E tuning at 440hz A. There are other problems like knobs and pickups that break. Overall, Ibanez makes money by mass producing guitars that "look cool" but either aren't tested well, or their quality control sucks. The issues aren't very apparent in a guitar shop but become obvious after you've put some hours into playing the guitars.
Jonathan Gutierrez
Do whatever works. most good guitarists i've known don't really know either, they just go based on sound and feeling.
personally I use normal music for reading and writing. nearly every tab i've looked at (unless it was written by the original guitarist) has been very poorly formatted and tends to make major mistakes about things like what string a note is played on or where a chord is played (meaning the tab format is actually worse since you get a fret and need to mentally convert to a note then decide what fret to play, whereas music just tells you the note and you can play it wherever it works best) sheet music of course conveys way more information than tab.
Logan Thomas
I don't get how people play like that, i've gotta keep the guitar close to my chest with the neck more vertical or else i end up with RSI problems
Grayson Scott
I'm fucking sick of changing strings on my squeir. Fuck it, I'm buying a les paul, hail Yui
Jayden Thompson
Does it break in the same spot every time?
Landon Roberts
Not always, but most of the time a piece of the string get stuck inside
Henry Lopez
Honestly. what's wrong with an Epiphone Les Paul?
Gabriel Rogers
is it okay to use inverted fifth two-finger chords, for example A and D? Am i allowed to do something like that?
Andrew Hall
Found a Gibson Les Paul Studio 2014 on craigslist for $650. Hopefully not too good to be true
Brody Peterson
Just use coated strings (Elixirs, for example). I sweat like a pig in heat and play hours every day, but a set lasts me six months.
Mainly the poly coating finish, its just sticky/cheap feeling compared to the nitro on a Gibson or a satin finish even. Just too thick and heavy, basically plastic. Otherwise they're not that bad Nah thats about right. The only shitty thing about the 2014s is the stupid 120th anniversary inlay
Robert Baker
I don't care much for the inlay, but do you think it would have any 'collector's item' appeal in the future?
Cooper Phillips
You are allowed to do that.
Andrew Mitchell
>wake up >see this The pain to grows stronger, watch it burn
Anyone here have experience with these Fender Precision Special basses from the '90s? I just found out about them and I'm definitely intrigued. They look sharp, imo.
What makes him have that chilled out smooth sounding composition. What note repative to the root is he playing. For example even the first chord contains the tonality carried in the whole song. Is it augmented stuff? Can you explain to a retard why it sounds good? youtu.be/PV14OgmngJw
Jack Flores
Remember when you would make fun of your dad when you were a neet?
Evan Morris
nah i just listen to popular genres
Blake Murphy
no
Carson Fisher
Who the fuck cares what a pick looks like?
Austin Murphy
anyone have schaller strap locks? im worried about the screws being too big for strap button holes and damaging my guitar. Should I just get washers or something instead?
Cameron Gonzalez
it looks like it's one scale that sounds like that and he stays in that scale's key all song
Aaron Watson
these bends aren't perfectly intonated and he doesnt evervibrato
As far as I can tell, he's just playing a d natural minor, the backing goes to a five chord (a minor 7) on a few places, but so there is a bit of tension there, but it's almost not noticable, I guess you just like the sound of that scale, he can play the shit out of it though.
Oliver Jenkins
that very first chord is dissonant tho, how can it be in a minor key? did you figure what chord it is?
Sebastian Ortiz
Also, he emphasises the 9th (e) a lot, maybe that's what you hear?
Elijah Moore
I didnt hear anything augmented, as in sharp 5. It sounded suspension-y to me, if you know what i mean, like when you add a note to chord that doesn't really belong there and you get a dreamy sort of sound.
James Powell
Thanks for replying.
Jason Nguyen
Fuck off retard. You obviously dont know what the fuck youre talking about.
Chase Gray
No, I'm 99,9% sure it's a d natural minor, it think he some how bends to the 5th in the starting chord, that dissonance is the flat fifth, going to a normal fifth, but I'm not sure how he's doing it, the following chords sound like they are affected by an effect, maybe something like a ring modulator, that is set to the fifth.
Charles Russell
He's just improvising in D natural minor.
Logan Hill
I've had a few squiers, an MIM, a korean metuhl guitar (ltd), and a gibson LP. I also noodled for an hour on a friend's USA strat with EMGs.
Out of those the ltd and gibson played and sounded the best. A tie, but if I had to pick one I would pick the gibson and just swap in the ltd's emg 57/66s, just because it looked so much nicer. $1500 nicer, for sure. The ltd was almost embarrassing to be seen with not because lol metal but because if you were close to it you'd think it costed $300 and not over $500 by the quality of the finish. The USA strat was second place but I didn't like playing near the nut. I kept accidentally bending it out of tune. The squiers and MIM all felt the same and just sounded a little bad compared to the other three. Not terrible but just a bit dull and weak even with new strings, probably because of cheaper pickups. And one of the squiers just wouldn't stay in tune - neither would the MIM.

Aren't you voicing fourths then

Can you elaborate for me? How am I wrong exactly?
Angel Perry
A to D is a fourth, not a fifth, and no you're not allowed to do that. We could get in trouble for even talking about it. I hope you're using a proxy.
Nicholas Gray
Or rather the 4th and the 5th sounding together, something in that range.

no that's a mic'd acoustic
Luke Roberts
Where's that Dean fag with the JCM900? Did he ever learn how to properly mic his amp and record some decent riffs?
if you learn any and do your home work the others will be easy
David Wilson
if you learn electric first you will have an easier time with all three acoustic first will curse you with sloppy technique on electric bass first will either develop your musical genius or help you become complacent with retardation, there is no in-between
John Murphy
I'd stay start with an acoustic and decide whether you want to keep going
Nathaniel Sanchez
Bass is the most boring instrument in the world if you aren't in a band or improvising to backing tracks. Otherwise it's the most fun.
Guitar is good if you want to learn existing works also.
Most bassists are also guitarists Not so true for guitarists being bassists
Christopher Lee
I would like to learn flatpicking and fiddle music. Anyone know any free guides or websites can get on internet to learn? Only other problem is I only have an electric fender guitar. No acoustic. Had a semi-acoustic epiphone but donated it to my catholic music group. Do you need an acoustic to play this kinda music properly?
Thomas Gonzalez
i saw a pic on Yea Forums once of a guy that had his dick stuck between the strings and neck of a guitar does anyone have it?
Brandon Powell
>Most bassists are also guitarists >Not so true for guitarists being bassists not true
Jacob Gonzalez
actually start with an ibanez, you can play with less string tension and not sound like shit, and the fretboard and fingerpicking ergonomics are similar enough to switch between the two fluidly
acoustics are physically difficult to play and sound good on for a beginner and also it's a little disheartening to only have an acoustic because there's not a lot of range and tonal versatility to play around with if you're bored. violinists have more fun than that. electric is more versatile and more expressive in how it's played, acoustic must be expressive through what is played so it's generally regarded by electric-exclusives as a hardcore option.
ibanez RG: 43mm nut, 15.75" radius, thin neck though taylor acoustic: 44mm nut 16" radius, thick neck though
the difference in thickness is not much of an issue for normal good technique (no thumb fretting silliness) but the radius and string spacing will trip you up a bit if they're too far apart
lolfender: 42mm nut, 9.5" radius, maybe even 7.25", made because regular guitars were too hard for people with arthritis to play chords on i guess?
gibson, the force of balance: 42mm nut 12" radius
Ethan Sanchez
The best bassists were never guitarists. Jack Bruce was a cellist and John Entwhistle was classically trained on horns. Just because they involve a guitar doesnt mean they are the same instrument. Very different.
Camden Diaz
they were bass guitarists! lmao got baited there!
Jaxson Barnes
So what do you play on buddy?
Hunter Richardson
your mom's ass lmao
Justin Bell
Yes I know they were bassists... Well if it was a bait you won so well done user. Hope you had fun.
Noah Sullivan
go to a music store and play the instruments get a vibe from them decide on that feel.
Ryder Fisher
Yeah real mature fuckin guy. I oughta smack yiu a new one.
Hudson Harris
Thanks so I'm gathering it's probably a good idea to start learning electric guitar or bass and not acoustic. I liked the appeal of acoustic sound for some music but I'm sure I can get a somewhat similar sound through a modelling amp right?
I see how bass and guitar are different instruments and I would actually like to be able to play both eventually but I'm not sure which to start with first unless learning both at the same time could be an option since I'm split.
I'm planning to learn with online resources if it makes a difference. I like a lot of music with both bass and guitar so I don't think I will dislike either.
It's simple in that since I'm divided between the two, I want to spend X budget. I can try to choose the one (able to spend more on this) and hope it was the right choice or just buy a low end guitar and bass to learn on at the same time.

norifumi shima is better
Aaron Ward
Learn guitar first for the simple fact that you wont have to learn chords afterward.
Jordan Morris
Also guitar has 2 more strings to learn about so better learn them first.
Hunter Roberts
thanks, so both at the same time isn't really an amazing idea since they are pretty transferable in knowledge? I'll be able to sink around 3 hrs a day into whatever I choose to begin with which I hope is enough.
