I don't actually believe anyone likes free jazz

I don't actually believe anyone likes free jazz.

Merzbow? sure. I get that. I can see why people like it. but free jazz is literally a bunch of skilled jazz musicians doing their own fucking thing in their own time and energy creating an absolutely cacophony of shit meaningless baby-like noise. it's childish.

and it sounds fucking awful. no one unironically prefers to sit down and listen to Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor or, John Coltrane. when they could be listening to Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk or Herbie Hancock.

it's a brainlet genre for brainlet egoists who think listening to it gives them character and makes them interesting and unique. listen to real music like a real person you fucking fake faggots!

there's no way you can prove free jazz is good. because it isn't.

saged

It's a snapshot of pure and uninhibited expression. It's not something you sit down and chill to - you listen to it when you want to experience unfiltered creativity.

>no one unironically prefers to sit down and listen to Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor or, John Coltrane
imo these guys are the acceptable non tryhard face of free jazz
had you said peter brotzmann or something then I'd understand. you just need to listen to more jazz

but merzbow is influenced by free jazz

exactly. it's not something that you sit down and listen to and enjoy. therefore it's not real music. I can chill out to Bach, Merzbow, Ramones, Death Grips and fucking Rob Leeravald. but not free jazz. there's nothing interesting or even really musical about it. it's random noise. no one listens to that thinks "hmmmm I can't wait to listen to this again."

Cecil Taylor is more abrasive than Brotzmann though, Brotzmann is just noisy, but not even near as complex and cacophonic as Taylor

eh Brotzmann is more difficult to digest than something like Unit Structures imo

Damn now this is a pleb post right here lol. Fucking philistine.

Actual retard

I think that's subjective because I find the contrary. But i'm a guy that before getting into jazz I used to listen to a lot of black metal, especially raw and dissonant stuff, so Brotzmann was easy to get into, but Unit Structures for example was really tough, although I really liked it on first listen I used to constantly find myself completely lost and with no clue of what the fuck was going on.

I dunno jazz structures become more apparent when you listen to them a few times over, as with any music

Thanks for taking the time

yeah see this is exactly what I'm talking about. I said in my post that you can't prove me wrong. and you can't because you're a brainlet who can't even think for himself.

no u

That's why they call it "free" jazz, as in completely worthless.
You get what you paid for.

Tell me where the free jazz touched you

Treating music like background noise is retarded

Free jazz isn’t random, and you’re a brainlet if you think that. It’s true, the pattern is intentionally kept loose, but that’s not the same as no pattern. Relisten to Free Jazz: A Collective Improvisation and play close attention to which instrument is playing when

yeah see you're not even trying to prove me wrong, because you literally cannot. you don't have the mental faculties to even defend this shit genre. you're deficient.

> improvisation

> Free jazz isn't random

go back to school kid.

>hurrdurr I don't know music theory and can't recognise basic musical patterns
>so what if it has rhythm and melody, it's literally not music because it's improvised
a thread died for this
admittedly that thread was probably a picture of soiak with >aphex twin, but still

there's no need to defend any genre, you only need to acknowledge there are genres that appeal to you and genres that do not.
that you do not have the slighest capacity to savour boundless creativity is your own problem, it has and will keep inspiring generations of experimental musicians.

fucking pl3b

yeah keep telling yourself that mate. inspiring generations of talentless hacks who think they're creative geniuses because they play a few notes and keys at random.

you are literally fucking retarded if you've been fooled into thinking you can 'savour' this shit music. hahaahahahahahahaha listen to some fucking Beethoven you sheeple.

there are no patterns it's improvisation you mongoloid.

>it's childish
whereas ROCK music is so adult

Miles Davis has made enjoyable free jazz though.

Pharaoh's Dance is kinda meh but I'd say it picks up heavily on the title track onward. just sit back and let your imagination run wild and experience the sounds. it really is something unique.

the way it's played is childish.

hitting random keys and notes is litereally what children do. therefore it's childish. not hard to understand.

whereas no child can play guitar like Jimi Hendrix could. that Jon H Benjamin jazz album shows you how shit and comedic free jazz is.

it's literally like watching a monkey try and play piano.

Imagine getting this butthurt about a musical genre

>there are no patterns it's improvisation
yeah, totally no phrases to be found, no chord progressions as well
all jazz since bebop has improvised fragments, doesn't mean they're completely random chimp-outs

What if I enjoy listening to hitting random keys and notes?

get schoofed

>there are no patterns it's improvisation you mongoloid.
my man you have no fucking idea what you're talking about

it's understandable

>he doesn't know about the improvisation theories by jazz musicians
Go read more before making your opinion, kid.

or buckethead is an entirely uninventive but well trained monkey . . . ..
really makes you think

What do you call a mediafire link of John Coltane's Kind of Blue?
