As we all know, britney went on to have a nervous breakdown because of the expectations that were placed on her to keep up this façade and to always act as both a sex symbol for adults and as a child friendly role model. Mileys vid throws that out the window and instead embraces the oversexualised nature of pop music in a more self aware way, making light of social issues surrounding it, which are reflected in day to day life.
It'll go down as another underrated piece of work just because it's Mileys though, no doubt.
