can someone redpill me on metalcore?
i thought metalcore was a fag genre filled with bands like asking alexandria and bring me the horizon. im trying to find more bands that are good actual metalcore but my search keeps getting messed up with the current fag bands that call themselves metalcore

you had it right the first time
metalcore is on par with crunkcore in terms of having 0 worthwhile bands / albums / tracks
even if you find 2 or 3 you like you're still wading waist-deep in putrid shit just to find a nugget of worth
bless you kind stranger, heres some gold
not metalcore but you might like this

Metalcore is "metal" for people who don't like metal.
Hate spandex and scifi and horror and fantasy and leather and romanticized rock n' roll shit like booze and girls and all the other 70's and 80's tropes but still want the very fringe superficial elements of metal? Metalcore is for you, there is plenty of poppy shit, melodic shit, progish shit, edgy shit, metalcore and it's genres cover all of the bases for people who want to listen to metal ish music but are not actually metalheads. There is a core genre that is the diet version of a metal genre for each occasion.
My favs are Botch, Cinemechanica and (Union of) Uranus.
You Fail Me is the best Converge album.
Converge is just Metal.
The best Metal band ever
Essential 90s metalcore:
Integrity - those who fear tomorrow
Starkweather - crossbearer
Ringworm - the promise
Unbroken - life.love.regret
Earth crisis - destroy the machines
Merauder - master killer
Zao - all else failed
You're welcome
Ringworm
Starkweather
Coalesce
Zao
Rorschach
Integrity
Curl Up and Die
Cursed
Gaza
The Swarm aka Knee Deep in the Dead
Acme
Converge are not a metal band. Please leave.
Yes they are. Please leave.
Good list.
the songs are really good on this but the singing ruins it for me, it sounds like beaker from the muppets or something
Which list is yours?
Awful contribution. Please leave.
>Gaza
From SLC it's nice to see this band still has a following
dont forget Disembodied
Within the ruins - creature
August burns red - messengers
Killswitch engage - alive or just breathing
As i lay dying - shadows are security
A dozen furies - a concept from fire(yes the band from the mtv ozzfest show, its really good)
All that remains - this darkened heart
Shadows fall - the war within
Unearth - the oncoming storm
A life once lost - hunter
Bleeding through - this is love, this is murderous
It dies today - the caitiff choir
Those are all the mid 2000s rippers i used to listen to. I haven't listened to any of these in a long time.
I also like gaza. Cult leader just isnt the same
I've actually never listened to these guys but it's bretty good so far, thanks.
Awful list.
Shit i guess im a poser
OP here, just listened to a chunk of the recommended bands and i think i just like mathcore, dillinger was one of the best out of all recommended.
i liked the other stuff but it wasnt exactly what im looking for at the moment, though i will still listen to some of them again later on so thanks
bruh... most of this shit is garbage lol
zao is converge but good
Go listen to shitty black metal faggot
when humans are in despair they shriek. But yea i get why you find them off putting. Maybe you'll like this more.

>metalcore fan calls a black metal fan a faggot
Pot, kettle, black
You're both faggots
yes much better
all you need
Just listen to this and forget about metalcore
>cult leader just isn't the same
agree. Also when they got relatively famous I stopped going to graywhale records because the employees brought it up like 4/5 times I would step in.
the album that turned metalcore into a meme genre
melodeath must be destroyed
converge is already good, faggot
>crunkcore has no worthwhile bands
sure thing retard
His post is actually pretty accurate though.
Let me piggyback ITT: can someone explain to me what EXACTLY is post-hardcore?
Of course it's accurate, the biggest and funniest flaw of the core faggot is that they can't accept that they aren't metal at all in any way but they know metal is their only link to relevance as absolutely nobody cares about punk or hardcore, so they want to take it over and want all metalheads to be like YOU WERE RIGHT THANKS FOR FIXING OUR GENRE, FAGGOT FROM SOME COLLEGE TOWN
No, enjoy opening for Slipknot or Behemoth or whoever, core acts are perpetual openers unless they fully take the plunge into rock and metal like your boys A7X.
Not sure how to explain the sound but bands like fugazi, unwound, drive like jehu, shellac, polvo are post hardcore
Based christbro
yeah none of that shit you listed describing "real metal" was superficial
retard
Gore, not core.
"post-hardcore" is a catch-all for any band that takes elements from hardcore punk and rearranges them/transforms them/fuses them with elements from other style of music to make music that either isn't strictly hardcore or isn't hardcore at all. There is no EXACT definition because, again, it's a catch-all term.
For example, I've seen this band described as post-hardcore:
Sorry, I meant to add: and what makes the term even more confusing is that since the genre's been around for like 30 years you have bands who aren't influenced by classic hardcore bands or even classic post-hardcore bands, they're influences by bands who were influences by bands who were influences by those bands. So the "post-hardcore" of today sounds nothing like the post-hardcore of the 80s or 90s. It's a complete shitshow.
Metal core as a genre had its time in the sun. Its over now and its not coming back. Let it go.
Yeah, that's what a lot of modern post-hardcore sounds like. You can thank At the Drive-In for that.
Orchid is tight. Good rec.
Well yeah, Converge are more of a mathcore band. I should have mentioned that in my post.
I don't listen to a lot of mathcore but there's this band called Ed Gein I used to listen to that's basically Converge-lite.
Dude...I'll try to be kind and fair here. Real metalheads know what real metal is like, because we like it a lot....same goes for hardcore kids I assume.
So, do you consider a song like this, to be punk or metal? I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt of actually being a hardcore kid mind you and not some fucking zoomer who's talking for no reason
youtube.com
Obviously this song is more metal than anything, but has a "hardcore" flair that metalheads can get into....this is a band who has gone between genres obviously but the point stands for this example.
>real metal heads
Experimental Hardcore
>not getting balls deep in scene girl pussy at Christian metalcore shows in 2008
you're clearly underage, but I feel bad for you since you missed some good times
I was getting pussy in '05 when nu-metal was still more "in" with my age group, and to this day mallgoth pussy > scene pussy
I'll take a bitch with a dyke spike hairdo and a fat ass bulging through her plaid mini skirt with just enough thigh meat showing above her tacky boots...oh jeez, yes, that. Keep your bitches who look like that.
How did those scene-core bands get called metal core in the first place?, when i listen to Converge and BMTH i obviously get they have a very different sound to them. Same shit happened to emo in the 2000's
worst taste of the day award goes to you
I'm picturing this and feeling pity for you at the fact you weren't able to lube up a qt's gauges, stick your tiny dick inside, and piss through her ears into her mouth.
>ctfl + f Misery Signals
>0 results
This board is trash. First post even mentions fucking Trivium. Don't listen to all these faggots. Get the Misery Signals discog. It doesn't get better than their debut and Controller.
And post hardcore
Because it was a variety of post hardcore mixed with metal....thus metalcore, the kind of metal just changed, they started ripping off melodic death metal like At The Gates and In Flames and adding pop punk choruses too which is still technically "punk" soooooo anything goes right
That's repugnant, but no you can think what you want, all the girls you thought were hot a few years earlier would have been dressed like the girls I thought were hot, and it was hotter. Mallgoth was hot as fuck for girls. Skimpy outfits, trashy makeup, amazing time for being a horny kid in school. And it wasn't just the fatsos or slobs or whatever you're implying, I watched the same girls who were smoking in those skirts and boots and with the early 00s hairdos switch over to gauges and pre ripped jeans and checkered vans overnight.
how do I deal with the pain of being like 13 when scene thots were at their peak
protest the hero
>Frontierer
the djenty side of mathcore, orange mathematics is pure chaos (in a good way)
>Vein
nu metal influenced, bonus points to the drummer fir using d&b breaks, error zone is top tier
>Car Bomb
mainly mathcore, slowed down on their latest album (which is absolutely god tier imo), the drumming is not from this world, the guy plays polyrythms on top of polyrythms, has a sligth djent influence
>Rolo Tomassi
they use a lot of post-hardcore and mathcore influence, also the vocalist (who is a female) is suprisingly good with the clean and the growled vocals as well
Since it seems that the metalcore-appreciating people of Yea Forums is here, give me your favourite mathcore albums
What the FUCK is this nigga even saying on this album
>RRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
>Rolo Tomassi
Time Will Die and Love Will Bury it is a 10/10
While I fucking love Converge, none of their albums stick with a consistent metal sub-genre. They’re more akin to hardcore or extreme metal, and they dip their toes into pretty much everything under the umbrella through the lens of their Boston punk scene origins, and they do it fucking fantastically I might add. For better or worse they’re kinda the Radiohead of metal as in, definitely not purists but also not tourists, and only slightly experimental in comparison to others.
Converge are a hardcore band. Cope harder.
I mean I said they’re closer to hardcore so I don’t disagree with you! Definitely not “just metal” like the user I was responding to tried to claim. But again my point is I don’t think they’re just hardcore or metal. More like something in between the two but I can’t put my finger on it.
