I try not to

I think it's gay, myself.

We? Think for yourself shithead

Honestly? I think they're kind of a singles band outside of a few songs. I know it's not cool to admit this, but if you look in your heart you'll know it's true.

That said, those 15-20 singles are all some of the best songs of the 80s. Kinda like New Order in that regard.

No

Listen to Pornography faggot

>What is Disintegration

How about actually listening to their goth records instead of their top 40 pop hits

I said outside of a few songs. Pornography and Disintegration are both good albums throughout. The rest really drag.

A lot of people haven’t listened to them very closely and they’re more famous for their imagery/persona. Albums like The Top and Wish are seriously underrated. The Join the Dots B Side compilation is also really good.

Better than the Smiths

What do I think of The Cure?

Boys Don't Cry [Fiction, 1980]
The sound is dry post-punk with assorted spare wit and flourishes abounding. Everything is treated with a proper pnemonic overlay as well--nearly every song has a memorable phrase or two. Intelligent phrases they are, too. But what are we to make of a band whose best song is based on Camus's "The Stranger," a book that was holy writ for collegiate existentialists since before Robert Smith was born? I mean, do we really need collegiate existentialism nostalgia? B

What is Disintegration, Head on the door and Wish?

Pornography is garbage and boring

One of the best bands of the 80’s

This. I'm not a very emotional person but when I am I find I connect with the cure a lot more than normally.

Is anything they made after 95 worth a fuck?

Nope

Friday, I am love

No.

What will their new album sound like?

Shit

they said it's their best work. Longer tracks than usual some exceeding 10 minutes. Lots of doom and gloom. Hopefully it is good. I love The Cure.

Reckon it would be hard to see them?

When's it out?

Halloween

>We're totally not goth guys

bloodflowers isn't a bad album and the last day of summer is lowkey one of their best songs

looking at robert smith's changes throughout the 80s was unironically influential in making me take it easy on drinking and drugs
nobody wants to go from chad to nan

He just got old. He's 60. At least he can still sing.

Love em

their set at Glastonbury this year was kino

i know he is now, but his looks rapidly went to shit while he was still young, that's what i mean
this was his original gloriousness

Attached: 79-8-24-Reading-Fest-10.jpg (492x500, 29K)

I wanted to see them so bad in may but holy fuck the price of tickets I will never see the cure live I just don't got that kind of money to spare

Reckon the next time they come to >London I'm going to just go for it whatever the price.

>Killing An Arab is the best Cure song
This dipshit just couldn't stop being wrong about everything.

Their bass is based

self titled album 2004 is really good, robert smith even says Fuck on one of the songs

They're headlining ACL this year and tickets are just over 100 bucks

No more so than giving that greatest hits collection an A because he thought RS might have a cool, adventurous sex life.

Not sure I'm ok with edgy Cure

How was he so fit?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Check bloodflowers

It's shit.

one of the greatest of all time. Their influence is immeasurable. Also losts of god and great-tier full albums

Why have The Cure suddenly become tier 1 Yea Forumscore? Not that Yea Forums ever disliked them, but I don't remember there being constant 50+ post love-ins like this

We had a perfectly serious 100+ post KISS discussion yesterday so...

Disintegration was posted all the time back in 2010 or so

Okay but that was a one-off. Whereas there always seems to be a Cure thread up atm. Not complaining, I'm just surprised.

think they deserve, so maybe its a good sign

To be fair that review was written in the very beginning days of The Cure when they didn't have a large catalog to pick from yet.

They just headlined Glastonbury and did a set of all their greatest hits

it's all the "le doomer totally me" zoomers that also spam bladee and smiths threads

Pretty good. Very influential in and outside their genre.

I bet that new album doesn't come out, just like the last album they said they had didn't.

Smiths can't compete and I don't even know what a bladee is.

Their god tier glastonbury performance the other day?

Holy shit, I just looked it up
youtube.com/watch?v=KAi2hQWf7oc
How can they still sound so good 30 years past their prime?

Disintegration is the best album ever made

The dancing giraffe in the center is pissing me off

It's not as if Smith's songs exactly have demanding vocals.

I'd rather watch it, thanks

I think you're underestimating how badly voices, especially men's voices, and especially rock stars' voices, go with age. They might not be the most demanding vocal performances but the fact that he genuinely sounds as good as he did 30 years ago is nothing short of a miracle

30 years mate, he is 60 now. His performances are outstanding and truly godtier

What's your favourite Cure song lads?

The caterpillar, jumping someone else's train and this version of fire in Cairo youtube.com/watch?v=2jBbZDDUHhY

man these people are insufferable, call me an incel or whatever but I genuinely don't understand why anyone enjoys live music

Lullaby probably, or maybe A Forest

Plainsong

Fascination Street has the best baseline in all of music

they were crazy disciplined when they were starting out, hours rehearsing every day, he could shred
then the success the touring food and coke and booze etc

you are more insufferable than people go to live shows. shut the fuck up faggot zoomer

He sounds exactly as he did 40 years ago, no vocalist ever managed that and especially not if they gained weight

fun fact: Fascination Street is the lowest rated single from Disintegration on rym... with a rating of 4.00
literally a perfect album

One of the few bands that can go between pop singles and emotionally cutting music like it's nothing

Great but not as good as The Smiths.

I just like this song really

Based

Sneed

Holy fuck, this triggered a lot of people hard. They indeed know this is true, but will not admit it.
I've listened to every album they made up to Disintegration and can confirm that each one of their albums is like 3 or 4 good songs and the rest are filler. But those 3 or 4 good songs are 10/10s.

If Robert Smith wants his legacy as one of the greats to be ensured, he needs to kill himself. If he doesn't, he will never reach Ian Curtis or Kurt Cobain martyr status, and will never reach the A list of the rock immortals.

He knows this, but he never had the balls to do it.

Are you retarded?

No I'm just trying to be edgy. But there is some truth in what I said.

Seek help

I don't think they've put out a bad record to date. A few middling ones, sure, but nothing I'd truly find abhorrent. The only outright awful songs of theirs I can think of off the top of my head are Screw and Club America. Everything else is at least a 5/10.

>Club America
this song is based, will never understand the hate

What do you have against Screw? For me, Head on the Door is a perfect album

The Love Cats is a terrible song.

>Boys Don't Cry

you should retry seventeen seconds and wish

He said "Fuck" on the intro track to Kiss Me

This is a real review. He actually wrote this. And got it published.

The composition of it all is an absolute mess. Nothing about its riffs, melodies, or really general instrumentation is compelling. It's a trashy 5 minute rocker that's not even entertaining in its trashiness, it just drags on and on unrelentingly. It sounds like a shitty drug fueled freakout that somehow made it on the record instead of being promptly forgotten once sobering up.

Mostly the production. The Japanese Whispers era stuff doesn't sound too much better but Screw has too much of that unbearably cheesy 80s quirk that nearly all of their other material deftly avoided, including the rest of HotD. Always stuck out like a sore thumb to me.

I don't think Lovecats is any worse than Friday I'm In Love to be honest. I can maybe see Let's Go To Bed being an overrated single in retrospect but Lovecats is fine.

>he never listened to Seventeen Seconds

this is true

I like Seventeen Seconds but I never saw it as a complete album. For every killer track it has there's another that's a little too skeletal for its own good, nevermind how they literally ran out of tape while recording The Final Sound. For my money, Faith is their first truly great album but Seventeen Seconds absolutely showed their potential off in its highs.

The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea
also this

the cure is just the smiths except instead of being good they were like "lets be bad" and everyone was like "ok"

Cold

the smiths are boring

Impeccable taste. Best song on both albums.

i reckon the unreleased songs from the last few years are pretty good, don't know if they'll make the album though since apparently they came up with a surplus of material for it in the studio
youtube.com/watch?v=-mXTg825C6Q

but anyway that makes me a bit optimistic about the album

holy fucking based

Can we make Disintegration part of the essential Yea Forumscore chart?

Pictures of You for me

No, and it's arguably in a better position as closet Yea Forumscore. All of the appreciation but none of the memes.

you're right

this

disintegration > pornography

Stop saying "we" you collectivist sheep
