if you think some rap songs is 'experimental', you're 16 or below. gtfo out of here. pic related is better than srs in every way possible
If you think some rap songs is 'experimental', you're 16 or below. gtfo out of here...
Probably the worst album I've ever heard
what about shit like death grips, danny brown, and clipping? those are by definition experimental
Is anyone else doing what Earl was on srs? And if so was it before or after he released srs?
I think srs is a great album and it's unlike I've ever heard before from a popular hip-hop artist
The only experimental thing about those guys is that they make you experiment with your sexuality.
OP here, read my post. I'm not saying this is the best experimental album, I'm saying this is miles better than SRS
>death grips, danny brown, and clipping
>by definition experimental
ehh, not really. clipping's use of noise and sampling can sort of be classed as experimental at times, i guess, and death grips have a few "experimental" songs - notm particularly. but danny brown? nah man
experimental != good
shut up kraut-fag
SRS is experimental.
There is literally no other rap album I can name that sounds nearly like it.
Just because it isn't sucking dicks of IDM/Free Jazz artists dick doesn't make it not experimental retard.
Also, experimental does not equal good.
oooooooooooooooooooooo savage
>there is literally no other rap album I can name that sounds nearly like it
don't you have homework?
the daft punk album? they sound nothing alike
Don't you have dicks to suck?
>There is literally no other rap album I can name that sounds nearly like it.
Listen to MIKE's work you dickrider. where do you think he got his style from?
Yea you got me.
Forgot all about MIKE.
can someone explain to me how this is a hip hop album apart from like three rap verses?

just being aesthetically dark and heavy is experimental? not sure how they are any different than other artists whose production and sampling is from other sources
Earl was very influenced by this crew of NY rappers mostly art school students or from wealthy families like -- MIKE and Standing on a Corner (which Slauson Malone was in)
why do rappers struggle to make more than 20 minutes of material and why must so much of it be filler like skits?
i know this is bait but anyway
death grips break down the boundaries of what can be defined as hip hop

you can't read this article and not agree that these guys are very experimental, their sound is literally a deconstruction of hip hop, they bridge the gap between experimental musique concrète sound collage and hip hop sampling
these songs for example takes the structure of west coast hyphy music and construct instrumentals using found sounds and minimal synths
