What's your favorite Rush album, user?
Levi Torres
Christopher Hughes
Grace Under Pressue
Jonathan Allen
Moving pictures nigger
Colton Campbell
Even as a Rush diehard, it's still this
Jayden Rivera
Some days signals, some days 2112, some days clockwork angels
I can’t pick just one man
Justin Sanders
Permanent Waves
such a comfy album
Christian Moore
A Farewell to Kings
Joshua Diaz
Fly By Night
Jaxon Thompson
While we're here, what's the WORST rush album? It's Hold Your Fire right?
Colton Jones
Signals
Elijah Bailey
2112
Julian Morris
Lol, no. Hold Your Fire is underrated as hell.
Test For Echo was their lowest point, but even then it's still just kinda meh. They never really put out a "bad" album per se.
Sebastian Allen
I really enjoy Fly by Night.
Brandon Lopez
Going though their discography at the moment. I'm listening to A Farewell to Kings right now. Not sure if it's my favourite yet but so far i like Fly By Night and Caress of Steel the most
Adrian Long
I'm doing the same. Just got done giving Fly by Night a couple of listens and about to go into Caress of Steel.
Thomas Fisher
You should enjoy it. It's more progressive than Fly by Night but is still a hard rock record all around
Liam Hall
Thinking it might actually be the Show of Hands live album these days. Absolutely stellar set from what (imo) is their best era from 82-87
Brody Perry
I always notice the dislike of Test For Echo but I thought it was fine. I find Hold Your Fire really boring. On my last listen through it was the only album i couldnt find any songs that i really liked
Ryan Turner
underrated
Austin Murphy
Strange, I'm doing the same now.
So I used to really like Moving Pictures but I overplayed the shit out of it and now I can't really enjoy it. 2112 is also very good but just like with Moving Pictures, I overplayed it.
Right now my favorite Rush album is Permanent Waves. Freewill, Jacob's Ladder and Entre Nous are really great tracks.
At the risk of overplaying Permanent Waves, I've moved on to A Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres, both which are 9/10s for me. 2112 is a really great record also. Not as complex as AFTK or Hemispheres but the story line is epic.
Then moving on to post Moving Pictures, Grace Under Pressure has some solid tracks. Significantly less prog and more keys but makes for a great poppy record.
Signals is a hit or miss for me with Power Windows ranking slightly higher due to the hook in Manhattan Project being super catchy.
In conclusion;
70's Rush
1. Hemispheres (1978)
2. 2112 (1976)
3. A Farewell to Kings (1977)
4. Fly By night (1975)
80's Rush
1. Permanent Waves (1980)
2. Moving Pictures (1981)
3. Grace Under Pressure (1984)
4. Power Windows (1985)
5. Signals (1982)
Overall
1.Permanent Waves (1980)
2. Hemispheres (1978)
3. 2112 (1976)
4. Moving Pictures (1981)
5. A Farewell to Kings (1977)
6. Grace Under Pressure (1984)
7. Power Windows (1985)
8. Fly By Night (1975)
9. Signals (1982)
I apologize for the aspie post, just haven't had the chance to talk about Rush before
Isaac Morales
This, it's a perfect album in my opinion.
Luke Lewis
It's just a perfect balance of everything they had done up to that point.
Jackson Carter
Hold your fire is an objective 0/10 and you know it's true
Joshua Gonzalez
Open secrets and force ten are 2 quality tracks. Everything else is poor. 4/10
Landon Miller
the thing here, Mr. OP, is that both books of Cygnus X-1 are not included in one (1) album, so such decision is impossibl
>'objectively' speaking tho, it's definitely Moving Pictures
Connor Wood
you posted it.
Xavier Green
>Lock and Key
Gabriel Robinson
I listened Rush a long time ago, and i liked thei stuff like 2112, but i know almost nothing about them and all of you are saying that like 90% of their discog is underrated. So, are they really worthy? I'd like to know more of them
Ian Sullivan
Start from A Farewell to Kings (the album after 2112) and then go chronologically until you reach Power Windows which would be where you end.
Dylan Jackson
Thanks user :) Rush wasn't fav of mine when i was into prog but now i'll give em another try
Jacob Thompson
the working man is a fantastic song, how does everyone feel about the debut?
Carson Rivera
S/T
Jason Mitchell
Lock and Key has the most garbage lyrics of any Rush song that's an indisputable fact.
