just listened. this was surprisingly good actually, you're using current trap trends pretty well but in a unique way. not gonna lie, you sound retarded, but it works for the song. it gets a bit too cluttered at times, but you could prob do a lot with this

Wow! You really nailed the retarded part of the critique, not so sure about the rest.
really weird atonal stuff, no idea whats going on, but i would recommend for you to use a bit more reverb on your voice, and make it more into the surrounding landscape you have here
I liked this yesterday, but didnt recc it but ill like it today, it reminds me of the good parts of the sorta indie-landfill of 2010, without the annoying car commercial part, plus you made it a bit darker which is nice
sorry dude you kinda just sound like danny brown but without his charm but more obnoxious and with more mic clipping, whoever made the beat did a good job though

thanks for the reverb tip, gave me some more mix ideas
really like the lowkey sound of the drums with the pretty, kinda sad piano. with a track like this i imagine the drums sounding a bit more muffled though, more of a rainy mood with the high cut filter turned down a bit
the organs are cool, i don't know what you're going for but it's a nice ambient track

Weird as hell never heard anything like it. Sounds like modern version of joy division or something ... would like to hear it with the vocals tuned slightly
Any feedback on this beat appreciated:

Loving this. Lo-fi hiphop beats to rec to
Really unique take on vapor, I've never heard anything like this. Really trippy, reminds me of 2814 but a bit more eerie.

I can't rec this enough. I'm a huge math rock fan and this is exactly what I like. Really intricate and noodly guitar rifts, great vocals and lyrics, and the production sounds wonderful without sounding too overproduced and CHON-y. If you dig math rock, highly recommend

worked on this for a few months while processing my closest friend moving away. it has been a lonely time, and making this has helped me through it. the release is very personal and important to me, and i would love for someone to actually hear it.
returning all and any feedback!
sparkle is a great name! i have a scrapped EP by the same name, bu tthe name was probably the best thing about it.
this song is really groovy and it makes my head bop. i find the lo-fi synths to be really engaging and fun, it's especially pleasant in the the left ear because there is just so much space! the sound is overall really lovely - your use samples and rythmic delay is super nice too.
i feel like this is an aesthetic choice, but the muddy low end that's mostly present on the first beat sorta takes me out of it though. a more present, consistent low end would probably help the groove, and allow for more headbops.
the hard panned percussion in the left ear is sorta annoying to me. i feel like it's quite distracting how it's the highest sound in the mix and also hardpanned. i think you could pan it inwards a bit and add slight low-pass for a more comforting sound.
all and all, this great though
you have a cool sound. i also enjoy the lyricism a lot - it's fun and slacker-ish. did you every see that linklater movie (slacker, 1990)? for some reason i feel like that's your vibe.
i listened to the whole ep, and my only broad critique is the vocals. the mixing of them is cool, and fits the vibe. they often sound out of key though, and their melodies are often quite weak. being occasionally out of key is fine, and would add to your aesthetic, but this is too much for me. i guess you have sing-songy vocals by like pavement, built to spill or gbv on your mind, but let's remember they have sick vocals melodies too
track 2's my favorite
though i don't much like ambience a lot (my bandmate does a lot more) i really enjoyed the packaging of this project more then anything and the first five minutes made for wonderful background music while I did my morning shave.
really nice artwork and i enjoy that you took the time to share something that was so emotionally gratifying for you, take a follow!
anyways here's my song.
>post-post malone
>soft nu-metal i guess
>some person said we weren't trap or lofi but we use trap drums and are pretty lofi
Nice trips, also I appreciate the kind words and actual constructive feedback Most of the low end is a stylistic choice, I guess my main excuse would be my cheap headphones haha,
My name comes from the movie Donnie Darko, it's my favorite movie and it takes place during the 80's. When my friends and I were joking about what out vaporwave names would be, Sparkle Motion is what I picked, and it just kind of stuck.
youtube.com
It's not delay I use, but the grossbeat vst from FL studio. I used to chop samples by hand before I figured out how to use it haha.
Love your track! Super comfy and calming...with a bit of unease towards the end. The loneliness you felt transferred into your music quite well.
i'm here: the reverby samples sound great. the overall sense of rhythm they add is really impressive, gives the beat a great groove.
i have nothing to critique here - nice.
your stuff is always comfy and cute. do you by any chance enjoy z-tapes a lot?
your song sounds good. the mids and low end are quite full, which means the song sounds a bit muddy. i think this could easily be improved by more exact eq-ing on your synths. there's nothing wrong with your current sound though, and this might even be intentional.
the break before the final section is fantastic btw. it's such a small, but beautiful thing btw

RECS
ayy thanks, i get a lot of joy division comparisons. i do need to work on my voice tho
i like that faded synth you've got going on in the background, but the drums feel a bit copied and pasted to me, like they could be a preset. i like it when the drums get muddier, and go down in volume, but they take up such a large part in the mix most of the time that i feel like that's where you should focus your attention the most. i like everything else
Thanks man...actually not a preset at all...all drums programmed from scratch...all synths played as well
.
Thanks! I’m trying to improve my mixing skills. I’ve never heard of z-tapes before, I’ll have to check em out!
Check me out here This is good man...I’m into ambient stuff like this like Brian eno and aphex twins ambient stuff...in the first half in terms of a critique I could hear it even more simplified...the way I like to listen to stuff like this is almost different than regular music...like it calms me but I barely notice it and I can do other stuff like read or whatever...it’s really cool tho and I dig how it progresses...really like the element of white noise in it..great job keep it up ..,The part starting at 9 min I love...really soothing this section is sick...dope how u bring back the motif at around 10:50...love where it goes around 11:45 too...all around great job man
Dig this really different and u can rap...keep it up bro

this was better than i expected it to be. it could all be a bit cleaner i think, but you might be going for the more distorted raw style. really cool, really interesting production. maybe get some more confidence in the vocals, it always seems to go downward a bit at the last second
