Has anyone here had any experience with the Duff McKagan signature bass? Or the Jazz Special it's based on? I'm thinking about maybe getting one down the road.

Also recommend me some other good basses that can be found for less than $1,000.

I have the first and second gen and both worked fine, though the second gen is far superior.
They were a little pricey, and the app is less than stellar, but the tuner/winder itself works fine
