Probably Modern Sounds of Country and Western by Ray Charles in the sense that it essentially does what Ulysses does by essentially retelling other songs in a novel alien style. For an elderly mexican cowboy at the time who never ever listened to black music before nor understood english, but was very familiar with the original country songs on the album this truly would have been the Ulysses of music...
Shoenberg's late string quartets.

Late Coltrane, e.g. Ascension

Music is a lesser art than literature, so it's very unlikely that there's an actual equivalent to Ulysses.
Ulysses is full of joy and life, whereas Schoony made music that sounds like pain and resentment.
correct
