sonic youth sucks
Sonic youth sucks
They were OK. Definitely a band I find it hard going back to.
Why is Dirty so underrated?
I find Thurston's voice extremely annoying, and the only album of theirs I really like is Sister. However, Thurston and Ranaldo's guitar work is pretty amazing sometimes, and I saw Thurston Moore live and his guitar solo stuff is pretty mind-blowing, he's definitely a master at what he does with the guitar.
>t. nardwuar
I love some SY but i cant get in their No Wave shit most of the time
They're a bit pretentious lyrically but when you've got 2 guitar wizards of their caliber it's not hard to tune the vocals out and just focus on the good stuff.
I don't remember them being great when I listened to them in high school like 5 fucking years ago (Jesus), but they weren't bad either. Daydream Nation was an alright album. I'll probably never bother to listen to them again except out of nostalgia's sake, but it wouldn't be a terrible listen.
no
The dimond sea
>tripfag
>wrong opinion
who would have thought?
Guitars on Murray St. are amazing
Maybe if you like onions
I love sonic youth
just sayin
Production ok but not great
Little too long
Kinda middle of the road by their standards
I like it a lot though especially Wish Fulfilment
based
BASED RANALDO POSTER
anyone got a link to ranaldo's GENETIC?
where are the 1991 cassettes?
(source pedopedia)
i must be the weirdest man alive but i really like thurston vocals, i know he sounds horrible live, but i don't know, i like his voice
also, ranaldo is always on point and kim fucking ruins half of the songs with her on lead vocals; in fact, she only sounds good on the debut ep, evol and dd to be honest (her sister songs are shit)
I like Thurston's vocals too, he's not great but it just works for SY. Lee always comes up with an album highlight. Can't agree about Sister, Beauty Lies in the Eye and Pacific Coast Highway slap
This
I like some of their albums a lot but after Dirty (1992) they fell of extremely. Some good songs here and there even on their last two albums but yeah their debut to Dirty is their best stuff without a doubt.
Also I think Thurston Moore is mentally deficient
>Cheated on Kim Gordon, the perfect woman for him, smart, attractive, an artist, mother of his only child
>Says that his favorite Sonic Youth album is Silver Sessions which is LITERALLY just guitar feedback. That's it. That's the album.
precisely he, i see most of the people like those songs and i think they're are dogshit, and i like shadow of a doubt and kottom krown which are very similar
Why is Goo almost forgotten in discussions about SY?
I can see not liking Kim's vocals, but not even the guitars on Pacific Coast? That's the high point of the album for me
It's fashionable to crap on it. It's very good though. Great powerful, dark sound.
>it’s fashionable to crap on it
Why? Never met with it except on Yea Forums
I don't know, maybe because of Goo shirts. Maybe because the album isn't no wave noise or arty dissonant rock, it's more alt rock
Unpopular opinion: Goo is their best album. It’s the group’a perfect combination of experimental and pop song writing. The noisy dissonant passages don’t overstay their welcome and the songs are catchy without sounding like derivative 90s indie
its ok.
not everyone is ready to understand actual art.
but im glad you enjoy the complimentary crayons nomm nomm
Anyone who unironically takes No Wave seriously is an edge lord.
>makes post about new wave
>makes post with 2011 video
>posts interview with composer who has dedicated life to music seriously
you are a cuk user.
the guitars are always good man, also my words may sound a bit harsh, but sonic youth is one of my favourite bands, and the mentioned songs are not literal dogshit, you know, afterall those kim songs are far better than the "best songs" of several bands
