>Being a girl too—they criticize you harder than they criticize men >If I was out there making little noises like Uzi and Carti be making, they would not rock with that. And not saying that they don’t be going hard, because we definitely finna turn up to both of them, but if it was a chick, like—no >— Megan Thee Stallion
Is she right? I mean, it's not like she was making incredible music either, to be honest. I feel like she is just being arrogant
femanon here, I think women in entertainment are held at an overall LOWER standard than men. however, the few women who are high achievers in their field (i.e. Kate Bush) don't seem to get the same level of name recognition as equal or similar male peers.

No, not even close. Compare the comment sections from female guitar covers to male guitar covers, for example. Tits or gtfo.

I'm sorry you're so bothered by a woman agreeing with you. It's nice that you enjoy making it seem like sexism is real though

It's my obligation to reply to every post starting with "femanon here" with tits or gtfo.

Nobody is going to make this investment... And you don't need 5 years on Yea Forums to learn to "tits or GTFO" meme.
By looks, very much so. Apart from Merrill Garbus, Merrill Beth Nisker and Yolandi Visser, all pop artists and most indie/leftfield artists are categorically above average looking. Even the aforementioned tap in to some kind of niche or aesthetic. Sure, most male pop stars and "troubadour" types will be handsome as will many lead singers of indie bands. But if you're an ugly fucker then you'll get away with playing most instruments in the background, doing your own projects or even leading metal bands.
If you're an ugly woman then forget about being a musician.

Damn.

the industry is mostly controlled by men, and that goes for critics as well. as such, there's a bias toward male artists when it comes to awards and reviews a lot of female artists are also expected to make the same kind of wishy washy love albums, and are ignored if they don't. so they have to integrate that into all of their albums, are start off with an album focused on that to start getting mainstream attention i'm asking seriously, out of curiosity, do any of you know any legitimately popular female artists who rose up without making love music?
