Enya, Robert Wyatt, Björk, Brian Eno

I’ve been listening to this shit pretty much nonstop for the past week. I had heard Froosh’s solo stuff was godly but I never bothered to try it out. I was a big fan of RHCP in high school and I’ll still defend about 75% of their discography but this shit is off the hook. Not at all what I expected. Running Away Into You is fucking awesome. I listened to To record Only Water as well and I like it a lot but the more unhinged vocals on Niandra are addictive.

Elliot Smith

I would say the first Roxy album is superior

P-Model really wasn't a bad band at all. It's just that Hirasawa really seems to execute his ideas better by himself than with a group of people tbqh. Aurora, Technique of Relief, Blue Limbo and Byakkoya are pretty much all the proof you need of that fact.

fuck yeah

Just revisited it last night and was pretty blown away. Also was a big RHCP fan as a kid but it’s funny to think about what your average fan of the band would make of this album. Also any comparably experimental solo album probably doesn’t benefit from the ability John has as a guitar player, something they definitely makes it all the more fantastic. There’s no substitute for his style.

I bet most of the people who know about him don't even know he had a band. He had two bands actually (if we don't count Shun)

I guess it depends where you're from. P-Model members were literally made into cute Japanese school girls forming a rock band in K-ON and even before then they were ridiculously big over there. Yet, most people that hear of Susumu Hirasawa in the West heard of him through anime soundtracks (albeit good animes and good soundtracks) like those of Berserk (probably his most famous one), Paranoia Agent, Millennium Actress and Paprika. They barely even know of anything he made before Aurora tbqh. Also, I thought Shun was more of a solo endeavor than a band, sorta like Kaku P-Model

Another huge RHCP fan in highschool here. I actually listened to this album earlier today and got on here to start a thread about it. Wowee wow it's good. I guess that's three chili peppers fans that like this album but I don't think we count as the average fan because we are incels on /mu.

my ex in hs was really into rhcp but she hated his solo stuff. she thought he was overrated
