Not gonna lie, Bowie's rerecording of 'Space Oddity' from the Scary Monsters era sounds pretty damn good. I think it was meant to be a Japanese exclusive single (possibly their first domestic release of that song? I have no idea, but that guess makes the most sense to me), but I'm glad it wound up as a bonus track on the Ryko release of Sacry Monsters.

yeah, it''s pretty based
it was aired live and uses a lot of the sets from ashes to ashes. people tend to skip over the idea that scary monsters is a reflection of the entirety his 70s career, specifically with ashes to ashes. the song was aired 10 years after the original and if you notice, he's doing the ziggy thing with his legs when he sits down.
he was rerecording a lot of songs during scary monsters sessions, if i'm correct, rebel rebel and panic in detroit were also rerercorded, though the detroit cover is pretty weak

he was also rerecording a lot of ziggy stardust stuff with synths during the low/heroes tour (isolar ii) which are pretty cool, they don't get enough credit. band apparently nailed the whole album down but only around 4 songs were performed

FUCKING LAYLA

From the Depths of Darkness is one of the worst attempts at this.

Happened a lot with r&b which as a genre suffered the most from changes in production. You hear rerecordings from the 70's and 80's and it's just fucking awful. Irma Thomas, for example.

twin fantasy
teens of style

Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds

not the same thing
but I got annoyed when the basically just made a new song for 6lack(a Jessie reyez song ft 6lack) and all the faggot does is talk about how people mispronounce his name, then love. they only added him to sell, and they fucking failed.
