I like every album up to Back In Black, after that...it becomes a situation of cherry picking songs for me and ignoring a lot of others. But yes I like them.
Why? They still played same shit
They're terrible
Powerage it’s probably their most underrated album. Also, Highway to Hell its a 10/10 for me.
Nah, after Back in Black they started to sound like they were stereotyping themselves.
Dirty Deeds is classic af
Whole Lotta Rosie is a jam
That’s about as much as I can stomach though; if you’ve heard those two songs you’ve heard everything they’ve ever done.
more metallic pop music, I can't picture Bon singing "Who Made Who"
Nobody wants to admit it, but Brian Johnson was a huge improvement over Bon Scott. I can't even listen to a lot of their early stuff because of him.
Maybe on a technical level but Bon is just way cooler.
>Nobody wants to admit it
that's cuz it's solely your opinion. but it has less to do with Brian & the fact that AC/DC is the definition of a band that intentionally paints themselves in a corner by limiting their style. Creative expansion would be a betrayal so they have to recycle everything, another example is slayer/ramones/motorhead
Nah because they were popular and Yea Forums only circlejerks C-list bands that nobody gave a fuck about back then with music so shitty the pretentious Yea Forums faggots call it unique and revolutionary
the only exception being The Beatles at least half of this board likes them
No, all their songs sound the same to me. Very boring band.
>No, all their songs sound the same to me.
So you like transitions in style like And Justice For All, to The Black Album, to Load/Reload, to St. Anger.....?
Because most people hate when bands change style.
Same
I don't even like metallica.
But I'm not talking about such style changes. You can still have distinct sounding songs within a style and within a single album. Most AC/DC songs sound too similar to me. Often can't tell one from the other.
I guess my brain is too big for such simple music. Brainlets love it of course. To each their own.
Disagree, but I can differentiate music by more than just timbre.
This. They're fun to listen to but once you've heard about one or two of their albums you don't really need to explore them further.
>My brain is too big
*tips oversized fedora*
See, this is the problem with the argument. I'd be willing to bet you don't even play the guitar, which is the main appeal of AC/DC music, god knows it isn't the drums, and as for the vocals and lyrics, they have an appeal of being dirty raunchy and etc etc but it's not Geoff Tate, so people obsessed with story telling lyrics or pristine vocals won't likely be too impressed with the feral cat vocals and simple lyrics about having fun, the glory of rock, and sexual innuendo, however the meat of AC/DC always has been and always will be the guitars...and I don't trust anyone who claims to like guitar music but doesn't like AC/DC or that all their songs sound the same. If you really like guitars, AC/DC is a band for you, because it's fucking nothing but great riffs and grooves and solos, that's all that matters in AC/DC world, and anyone with a true appreciation for riffs doesn't think it's all "the same" or "can't tell the difference", maybe if you think 50 songs done in the same style of music about similar topics are all the same, but at that point you're listening to AC/DC wrong, which is about feeling, not thinking. It's not art rock, it's just rock. They have catchy groovey distinct riffs for days in their catalog brah, but only if you truly love riffs.
Wew, so wrong.
I do play guitar and live and breathe rock and metal (mostly metal).
I'm not saying the guitar parts are bad (some are indeed quite iconic), but there's so little sonic variation in it that it all sounds pretty similar to my ears. Not that I ever dove really deeply into AC/DC, or cared about the band enough to pay close attention to the guitar parts. There's so much other music I can listen to, why bother with a band that doesn't make me feel anything?
>Not that I ever dove really deeply into AC/DC, or cared about the band enough to pay close attention to the guitar parts.
Well there's the problem, and a problem with many people on this board. Opinions are formed on a surface level without an actual understanding of a body of work. I do it too (though rarely and usually only in circumstances where I find an artists personality so repulsive or annoying that I just do not want to go deeper, usually rappers), won't even be pretentious guy and pretend I never have, but it's not a good thing and not something I generally practice, if I shit talk a band it's because I've spent time doing some digging and full album spins and just decided I didn't like it.
>There's so much other music I can listen to, why bother with a band that doesn't make me feel anything?
I mean I'm also not going to front and pretend EVERYBODY on the face of the Earth needs to or will love AC/DC, but I will stand by what I said that I don't believe any true lover of hard guitar rock can't see what the appeal of AC/DC is, they're shallow in a lot of ways but it's basically just riff city and solo city, I could understand if someone hates the blues rock template and prefers like idk neo classical shit or prog or something, but in general AC/DC is one of the best for just pure ripping riffs and rocking solos. Someone earlier ITT made a good comparison and that's to Ramones, AC/DC is basically the Ramones of rock and Ramones the AC/DC of punk, I am not a huge punk fan but I do think of Ramones to be a band that I can't understand why anyone who likes punk wouldn't like, it's what it's all about personified, three chord shit played fast and catchy and without any regard for musicality or pretension, which to me is the whole idea of "punk", just like that, AC/DC to me is the whole idea of rock n' roll.

yes but only for a few albums. listen to that niggers recent (past decade or so) live shit and he sounds like a dying rat ffs. i think if bon had screamed as hard as brian did for those first few albums his voice would have turned to shit VERY quickly.
do you enjoy being a faggot?

I said this yesterday but for ever I only listened to ‘intellectual’ music. I was listening to Bad Religion sing about the difficulty of producing a volume of significant work as a scientific researcher and you sit there and you start to wonder who the duck needs a song about this or moral epistemology?
ACDC is very good because they have the ability to play a simple song with simple ideas and make it catchy and fun. Many bands suck and use ‘depth’ of lyrics or technical wankery to mask the utter lack of song writing skill.
I obviosuly still listen to BR but ACDC is still one of the greats even if you only listen to greatest hits it’s good music that almost nobody else could pull off despite how simple it is.
Ask, Bon Scott sucked i agrée but he had charisma and rock attitude so it worked.
Anyway, I’d say they are up there with the Beatles in terms of song writing ability. Ultimately they were able to master simplicity in a way that few have. If they wanted to (they don’t) they could try to do some fancy progressive Music but Metallica did it and everyone hated it. Let other bands evolve on ACDC and let ACDC just their thing. It’s nkt like you need to listen to their whole catalogue.
Maybe as a singer, but AC/DC under Bon was more adventurous. They stagnated with Brian Johnson.
They're fine. I saw them in concert ten years ago and they were seriously good.
Shit and gay, listen to The Soft Machine.
