That's how politics work, it's mostly irrational and emotionally based, you make up your mind before you have reasons to defend your position and arguments to defend yourself are added post hoc. Basically nobody starts as a blank slate and decide what personal politics they embrace after carefully weighing the options with facts and research, everyone are born predisposed to certain political leanings and most just go with their nature because it makes sense to them.
