How the fuck is no one talking about this?
How the fuck is no one talking about this?
oh well
It was discussed, a bunch of children gave uninformed opinions, and it disappeared under the memes
Just another Tuesday on Yea Forums
Not a big loss for music
Nothing is lost except a few demos and outtakes. You'll always be able to buy or stream the albums.
It’s not Tuesday kid...
Sure, but losing the master copy means no more remasters. That may not be a big deal now but 10, 20 years down the line it definitely will be
Pretty sure this just means labels can’t gouge music fans for ultimate supreme deluxe editions with 25 bonus tracks of demos the artist would never want released.
But seriously master tapes being lost means they can’t remaster albums and with new mediums or ways of consuming music it’s going to be hard to optimize listening on those platforms
>digital copies
Remasters are scams....
....and there is no need to invent another format.
Yes. They digitized The Beatles masters in the 80s. It's nothing new.
Audiophiles are like the fucking Amish.
>You'll always be able to buy or stream the albums
That's wrong though.
Once any licensing deals that are in place expire the distributor/publisher will have to renegotiate with whomever holds the rights to the material. If the masters no longer exist it makes deals much harder to put into place, as additional steps are needed to acquire the material.
Bbbut someone will just put it on youtube! Don't make me think man ow.
I already have the high quality rip in my hard drive so I don’t give a fuck lol
lol its not a loss for listeners or fans or even th artists. just the fat cat money grabbers profiting off that shit. small loss for capitalists but not a big loss for music. which is fine
We already have all the recordings, and the sheetmusic is probably very easy to find to. We haven't really lost much desu
>We already have all the recordings
You don't know what a master is do you?
It doesn't matter what happens to the master, we already have the finished product and the corresponding sheetmusic.
when an artist doesn't release a recording/song it's usually for a good reason
in 20 years remasters may allow you to listen to the master tapes as if you were in the same room with the band
No zoomer seems to understand what a master actually is
Fuckin sad
Try to convince me that masters are important without lying about its supposed superior audio quality and without falling for the super ultimate deluxe box set/remaster meme
It quite literally THE ORIGINAL RECORDING. It has 100% of the information recorded and is not plagued by any sort of data loss allowing you to have a perfect copy for re-releases and digitization. If you cant understand this then just take kurt's microphone and pain the walls.
Your brain probably doesn't hold anything of value anyways.
So does flac which you can get from dee-------
>remasters
oh no, we'll have to listen to music like the artist originally intended for it to sound like, whatever shall we do
Rick Beato has made two videos about it
I see you've fallen for the sound quality meme.
Humans cannot hear the difference. It's not like a painting.
Chill, dude. Rotational velocidensity is not real
SHOW ME THE MASTERS
um, no sweatie
>hurr it sounds just like my mp3
seriously imbecile, get out of the gene pool
This topic always brings out the clueless literally 60 year old boomers. Go back to the Stevehoffman forum.
still better than clueless 12 year olds.
Oh no 300 miliseconds of some 15kHz overtone got deleted when it got converted to FLAC. How will I ever recover.
Still clueless.
Eh. . .whatever.
This is such a stupid thing to say. Most albums aren't recorded live. They're usually done track by track. Not to mention the double layering of vocals and other instruments. Even if it was recorded live you would need some crazy setup of surround sound speakers in a room to feel like you were watching a band play live in a studio.
not an argument kid, no gold star for you
why dont you just stick with
>hurr it haz no valu cuz it haz no valu to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
More like butt somebody will put it on soulseek
>Elto John
>Nirvana
*yawn*
Wake me up when something good is lost.
Why is Yea Forums like this? Both are undeniably good artists
Enjoying your first day on Yea Forums?
Good being dead.
Both will be totally forgotten in less than 50 years.
You should go back btw ;))
You'll be forgotten in a lot less.
>2008
that's what UMG gets for hiring shills
remasters suck who fuckin cares
