I think it's cause they made music the Latinos you know had liked

You only know one Latino and that particular Latino likes The Strokes.

the strokes is agreeable music to everyone, including latinos

As a south american spanish speaking person i can confirm, i love the strokes

because they went to brazil

what an absurd statement

this

best regards, a guy from buenos aires

lol

as a brazilian guy I confirm it too, idk their music is just neat

and Julian is spanish, no?

i dont know bout julian but albert hammond mother's is from argentina

pretty sure drummer is also brazilian

what's even stranger is how all the mexicans love Interpol

Yeah I was here, the crowd was insane

they also like the smiths for some reason

the hispanic are weird people

South America is really into rock music. Hip hop hasn't really spread there as well as it has to everywhere else because it's hard for them to understand English when it's being spoken that fast

Also some of their biggest songs (Reptilia, Machu Picchu) sound like it has some sort of latin music influence so they're like gateways to the rest of their music I guess

Julian is third-generation Spanish, his father's parents were Spanish and went to America
His mother is a Danish supermodel

All members of the Strokes are either immigrants or sons of immigrants

Post-punkish bands got really popular. Brazil had a pretty big post-punk and new wave scene in the 80's.

Chilean crowd>Argentinian crowd

hmm
ah thanks
that's cool

My mexican friend who only listens to basic rap and spanish music also likes the strokes surprisingly

Rock music is big in latin America and Reptilia was feature on rock band years ago. Also they were pretty big globally in the emo years

South american here, I can confirm The Strokes being incredibly popular here. No other "indie" band of that time managed to get the popularity that The Strokes had here. The White Stripes (besides Seven Nation Army and Fell In Love With a Girl), Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys (before AM), all of those were literal who's

I don't know why. I kind of want to blame Guitar Hero III though.

/board

they think casablancas is latino bcos his name says white houses
